Prom Camp
STUDENT REFLECTIONS
Camp was amazing. I loved all the views and nature that was
there. My favourite activity would definitely be surfing. The
waves were just perfect and everyone tried their best and did
so well. Surfing is one of the best things I would love to do
again. My second favourite activity would be the Mt Oberon
hike even though I complained the whole way through, I
managed to push myself and get up there and loved to watch
the view and get some cute profile pics for social media. I
would for sure go back some time with my family.

– Mia Brighton

The 8H crew were heading down to Wilsons Prom on 16th of

March. We were going there for 2 nights and days. On the
way there we had a blast on the bus, we stopped at Leongatha
for a quick 30-minute break. When we arrived, we had to
unpack and set up our tents. It was stinking hot when we got
there so we decided to head down to the beach which was
great. On the second day we got up bright and early to hike
up Mount Oberon, the views from up there were amazing. For
the second half of the day we went and saw some sand dunes.
There was a really steep one that all us boys ran down into, it
was so hard getting back up. That night we cooked pasta on
fuel burners which was a great experience. The last day we
got up and started packing up all the stuff. This last day we
had a surfing lesson. It was great fun. The instructors where
really nice and well spoken on what we had to do. The bus trip
home was a quiet one. When we got back we did the unpack
which wasn’t too hard as there wasn’t much food left. Glad I’m
back at home now.

YEAR 12 FORMAL
We finally did it! Formal 3.0 went ahead for the
Year 12s on Friday 18th March after the event was
rescheduled three times and it was well worth the wait.
The night was amazing, everyone had a blast with super
yummy food to enjoy, perfect weather and awesome
music that everyone got up and showed their moves too.

Everyone looked incredible, in their fancy dresses and

suits. We also had an award ceremony which gave
everyone a bit of a giggle as they read out who was
the most likely to be asked for ID at 30 and biggest
teacher’s pet. Let’s just say there were no surprises with
the winners.

To finish off a great night we danced and some even

sang to what people are saying to be the best playlist in
the history of formal dances.

We thank the Drouin Golf Club for their ongoing support

during our time planning the event and we also thank
them for enabling us to make the night possible with
hiring the venue. As a Year 12 crew we would like to
thank all the staff that made this happen and to the staff
that attended. A very special thank you to Mr Thorpe
and Ms Stanton for working so hard with the VCAL team
to make sure it happened.

Students organised a BBQ, bake sale, popcorn, fairy floss and lollies with profits to go to CanTeen to support young people

On 17th March, twelve of our swimmers went to compete
in the Gippsland Regional Championships at Sale. On
the back of some valiant efforts from our students, Drouin
ended up placing or winning a staggering total of 14 events
throughout the day. Well, done to everyone who participated
and a special congratulations to Riley Griffin, Patrick Griffin,
Sam Wells and Cailean Thomas who will be advancing
and representing the school in the State Secondary School
Championships on 28th April.
On 25th March, Drouin had 4 teams competing in the Junior
Interschool Summer Sports, specifically in the Volleyball and
Tennis. All our students gave it their best efforts but sadly
couldn’t advance to the next rounds after a couple of second
places and other results in both sports. Still, they displayed
great sportsmanship and for that we give our athletes a pat on
the back.
In Term 2 we have some exciting new sports coming into
