Installation Instructions for InPower

1 Introduction
Snapshot functionality is used to createthe snapshots of the configured parameters. These snapshots can
be used for analysispurpose in case of failure and verifications. The utility helps to choose the parameters
for snapshot configuration.

1.1 Administrator Rights


Administrator rights are required to install InPower.

1.2 User Guide


The InPower User’s Guide is installed on the PC in the InPower program group.
After installing this product, use the Start button to access Start Screen and then down arrow at the
bottom of the start screen to view Apps Screen.

1.3 Apps Screen


The Apps Screen has an InPower group where you can select and view the following:
• GenSet-ATS User Guide
• Registration Help
• WebInCal User Guide

1.4 InPower Registration


Following a successful InPower installation, the user is prompted to register the product the first time
InPower is launched. This applies to all users, including those who have previously registered the product.
For more information about registration, click Help in the InPower registration wizard.

2 Snapshot Functionality in InPower Pro and Engineering

• An IBM PC or 100% compatible PC
• Supported Operating Systems: Windows 10 or Windows 11

InPower does not support Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows
XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1.

• Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8.0 or later


• SVGA (1024 x 768) color display
• Windows compatible pointing device and 101-key enhanced keyboard
• CD-ROM
• One free serial communications port or USB to serial converter
• Windows compatible printer (optional)

Security Hardware Lock


The dongle is not required in InPower.

3 Installation Procedure
The installation procedure is the same on all operating systems. The examples in this section are
from Windows 8.1.
During installation, pop-up messages may be displayed behind an open window. If the installation program
is not responding, check the taskbar, or press Alt+Tab to display hidden windows. Review and close any
pop-up messages. For help at any time, click Installation Help.
1. Close all other programs, including those docked to the taskbar.
2. Open the folder in which you downloaded InPower, and double-click the file you downloaded.
3. If the PC asks for an administrator password, provide the required information. Otherwise, the
Electronic Tools Install Wizard appears.

4. Click Start Installation.
5. If a previous version of InPower is installed on the PC, the InPower setup wizard notifies you have to
remove it. If you do not want to remove it, click No, and the rest of the installation is cancelled or
click Yes to remove the previous version. If there are no previous versions of InPower on the
computer, the installation proceeds to step 8.

6. Click OK to confirm the removal of the previous version. The InPower setup wizard removes
previous version of InPower. If you do not want to remove the previous version, click Cancel, and
the rest of the installation is cancelled.

7. When the removal is complete, click Finish to proceed with the installation of InPower. The License
Agreement window shows.

8. Review the License Agreement and select “I accept the terms of the license agreement.” Click Next.
The Choose Destination Location window shows.

NOTICE
If the Destination Folder is changed to c:\Program Files, an error message is displayed.

9. Select the folder in which you want to install In-Power, and click Next. The Choose Destination
Window shows to select the location for the Strip Chart and Monitor data files.

10. Select the folder in which you want to store strip chart and monitor files, and click Next. This folder
will not be removed when you uninstall InPower. The Start Copying Files window shows.

11. Review the settings. Click Next to continue, or click Back to change them. When you click Next, the
setup wizard installs InPower. When the installation is completes, the following window appears:

12. Select View ReadMe if you want to review the release notes now. You can also review this File later.
Click Next to continue.
13. If you selected View ReadMe, the readme file appears in the InPower setup wizard. Otherwise, the
InPower setup wizard skips this step.

14. Click Finish to close InPower setup wizard.

15. If the InPower version is upgraded, existing data such as TPL files, Capture files, and Reports will be
moved to a new installed location so that the data will not be lost.

4 Un-Installation Procedure
The un-installation procedure is the same on all operating systems. The examples in this section
are from Windows 8.1.
Administrator rights are required to install InPower. The uninstallation procedure does not remove the
folder in which you store strip chart and monitor files.
1. Open Apps Screen Window and go to Power Generation Utilities Program.

2. Select Uninstall.
3. If the PC asks for an administrator password, provide the required information. Otherwise, InPower
uninstallation wizard appears.
4. Follow the directions in InPower uninstallation wizard to remove InPower from the PC.

5 Service and Support


If you have a problem with the software, follow these steps.
1. Take a screenshot of the error message. For example, press fn + prt sc, open Microsoft Paint, paste
image and save the file.
2. Copy the latest installation log at:
<installed location>\Program Files\PowerGeneration\Installation Logs

3. Send the screenshot and latest installation log to your distributor. If you are a distributor, contact
Cummins Power Generation using standard channels.
