• Do you believe Plato’s theory or do you not? Write an explanation as to why.

I am not an advocate of Plato’s theory of forms.

First of all, everything is relativistic. An object might seem to be perfect to many people,
but imperfect to others’ perception. It is not an exception for the forms of things;
especially, they are so invisible that no one can ascertain whether they are perfect. The
“real world” also relates to the uncertainties of experience; despite leveraging our logical
interpretation, the presumption about its invariability and eternality is not reasonable.
In addition, the world we live in should be perceived as the true “real world”. This is
because scientists have discovered many principles that constitute the real existence of
anything, such as physical, chemical, to biological terms. Even though the scientific
characteristics of an object might change over time (such as cells), this change makes our
world so real. If it is motionless, the world will have no signal of existence.
• Do you know the difference between the material world and the world of the Forms?

• Could you explain why Plato says the world we live in is not the real world?
• Could you give a definition of a Form?
• Do you understand Plato’s Theory of the Forms?
