You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive
restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The
restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a
resolution.
Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-
200 words. Your email should do the following things:
State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
Complain about the service.
Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your
satisfaction.
Dear Sir/Madam,
Last friday I went with my family to Le Café Bistro, known as one of the best restaurants in town,
which was supposed to offer an amazing gastronomic experience. I have no words to say how
disappointed my family and I were when we left, and there was no way to contact the manager,
in order to get the compensation we deserve. Then I decided to sent you an e-mail.
First, we had a reservation for 8 p.m., and we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. We were
already starving and the waiter came fifteen minutes later, just to give us some water. We made
our orders, and after one hour waiting, your staff mixed everything up. We specially told the
waiter our children were vegan, but their salads came full of bacon. Our chicken was raw and
even the roasted vegetables weren't edible.
As for the gastronomic experience we were supposed to have, even the desert, which was
supposed to make things better, was not up to the standards. I have to say that our sweet
expectations were let down and we left with a bitter aftertaste. On a lighter note, the chef gave
us his excuses for some of the mistakes. Though, the staff was really rude and they charged us
for all the food. I hope we can find a way to find an agreement, and get my money back.
Best regards,
Signature.

City Development Survey
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of
town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what
residents would like to have built in that area.
Choose the option that you prefer. Why do you prefer
your choice? Explain the reasons for your choice. Write
about 150-200 words.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a
large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a
large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern,
First, I believe our town needs more recreational spaces for our children. That's why a
Recreational Park is an excellent idea to develop this area in a way that doesn't affect our
environment. We are in a middle of a fight for survive in our planet, and we have to learn to use
our spaces, in order to keep the resources for another generations, and to stop global warming.
Considering the seriousness of our situation, and the commitment to the ecological causes that
our local politicians affirm to have, it's unbelievable that our leaders and business men can even
think of constructing another shopping mall in the last spot of forest we have.
It's clear that we don't need another place to praise our consumerist culture. This capitalist
order in which making profits are more important than our lives, and our well-being, this has to
end. And yet we can't make a whole change instantaneously, we have to start by our city, our
neighbourhood, our houses.
In addition, a park with a sports complex will encourage our children to engage in social
acitivities and it will be a place of loisirs that empoverished people need. It will help us to
prevent crime, as the experts say.
Thus, I support the recreational park.
