Write Some Words, A Phrase or A Sentence


A sentence expresses a complete thought. It begins with a capital letter and ends
with a period (.) or question mark (?).

A phrase does not express a complete thought. It begins with a small letter and does
not end with a punctuation mark. Try to complete the sentence below by adding the
given phrase above.

III- Activity

A. Can you help Catherine feed their animals? But first, see what the animals are
doing. Look at the pictures. Try to make a phrase and rewrite the sentence correctly.
Begin the sentence in capital letter and copy the punctuation mark. Copy them in
your notebook.

B. Read and copy the sentences in your notebook. Encircle the capital letter at the
beginning of each sentence and box the period or question mark at the end of the
sentence.

1. My name is Ephraim.
2. Thirdy has a new toy car.
3. What is your name?
4. Where do you live?
5. Children always read books at home.
C. Look and study the picture. Complete the sentence by adding a phrase in the
blank. Write them in your notebook.

D. Complete the telling sentence by adding period (.) and asking sentence by adding
question mark (?) at the end of each sentence. Copy the sentences in your note book.

IV-Assessment
Draw a red apple if it is a sentence and a yellow flower if it is a phrase
before each number.
