MoU to Bring Job Opportunities


⇢ The Ministry of Labour & Employment has signed an MoU with FoundIt to bring 10 lakh
jobs annually to the National Career Service (NCS) portal.

Fort William renamed Vijay Durg
⇢ Fort William in Kolkata, the headquarters of the Eastern Army Command, has been
renamed to Vijay Durg.
⇢ Kitchener House inside the fort has been renamed to Manekshaw House.
⇢ The South gate (formerly St George’s Gate) is now known as Shivaji Gate.
⇢ PM Narendra Modi described the initiative to remove colonial vestiges as “gulami ki
mansikta se mukti (freedom from the mentality of slavery)”.

Conference on human trafficking


⇢ The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) organised a national conference on
combating human trafficking in the digital era.
⇢ The conference was held in collaboration with the Hidayatullah National Law University
in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
⇢ Justice V Ramasubramanian, Chairperson of NHRC inaugurated the event.

Promotion of Indian art and culture globally


⇢ Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that the Ministry of Culture (MoC)
signs Cultural Exchange Programmes (CEPs) with other countries to promote Indian art
and culture globally.
⇢ The MoC implements the “Global Engagement Scheme” to promote India’s cultural
heritage and its global image.
⇢ It has empanelled 627 artists/groups for various art forms to perform in the Festivals of
India abroad.
⇢ The MoC also organises Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsavs (RSMs) in the country.
⇢ Since 2015, the MoC has organised 14 RSMs and 4 Zonal Level RSMs through ZCCs.
⇢ The government has set up 7 Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) to organise cultural
programmes at the national level and protect, preserve, and promote various folk art
forms and culture.

AI University for Maharashtra


⇢ Maharashtra is set to become the first Indian state to establish an Artificial Intelligence
(AI) university.
⇢ The university aims to advance AI education, research, and innovation.

RBI-DPI index rises
⇢ According to a report by the RBI, the digital payments index (DPI) has increased to
465.3 in September 2024, compared to 445.5 in March 2024.
⇢ It was increased by 11.11% on Year-on-Year.
⇢ The DPI, launched in 2021, indicates the extent of digitization of payments across the
country.
⇢ It has March 2018 as the base period.

SEBI to Pair MF with Life Insurance
⇢ SEBI is planning to launch a combo product that combines mutual fund investments with
life insurance.
⇢ A consultation paper will be released soon.

Sunita Williams breaks spacewalk record
⇢ Sunita Williams, a NASA astronaut, has broken Peggy Whitson's record for the longest
spacewalk by a woman, clocking 62 hours and 6 minutes at the International Space
Station (ISS).
⇢ She performed the spacewalk during a mission with fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore.
⇢ It was the 92nd US spacewalk and a part of the 'Expedition 72' mission.

ISRO unveils FEAST software


⇢ ISRO has launched the latest version of the 'Finite Element Analysis of Structures
(FEAST) software' at the 8th national finite element developers’ meeting at IIT
Hyderabad.
⇢ Developed by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) of ISRO, the software is used for
analysing the behaviour of structures under various loads in fields of aerospace,
automobile, civil, mechanical, and marine engineering.

CDSCO licensure for Biolumpivaxin received


⇢ Biovet, a firm under the Bharat Biotech group, has received license from the Central
Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO) for its lumpy skin disease (LSD) vaccine
named “Biolumpivaxin”.
⇢ The vaccine is developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agriculture
Research (ICAR).
⇢ It is the first Differentiation of Infected from Vaccinated Animals (DIVA) marker
vaccine for LSD in the world.

Oxygen and fuel produced in space


⇢ The Shenzhou-19 crew aboard Tiangong space station, China successfully produced
oxygen and rocket fuel ingredients through Artificial Photosynthesis.
⇢ This is the first-ever in-orbit application of this method.
⇢ The crew consists of Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze, launched from
Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center (JSLC).
⇢ The experiment produced ethylene (C2H4), a hydrocarbon usable in rocket fuel.

⇢ Tshego Gaelae has won the Mrs World 2025 title.
⇢ She is the first Black women from South Africa to win the award.

Wriddhiman Saha retires from cricket
⇢ Wriddhiman Saha, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter, announced his retirement from all
forms of cricket.

⇢ He also represented Bengal and Tripura in domestic cricket and played 49 matches for
India across all formats.
