SECTION 3: HAZARDS INDENTIFICATION


Route of Entry: Skin absorption, skin contact, eye contact, inhalation, ingestion.

SECTION 4: FIRST AID MEASURES


Ingestion: If the victim is convulsing or unconscious, rinse mouth, administer plenty of water
to drink, ensure that the victim’s airway is open. Refer for medical attention.
Eye contract: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If redness,
itching or a burning sensation develops, have eyes examined and treated by medical
personnel.

Skin Contract: Remove all contaminated clothing. Wash with plenty of soap and water for at
least 15-20 minutes, including hair and under fingernails. Call a hospital or poison control if
symptoms develop.
Inhalation: Immediately leave the contaminated area to fresh air. If not breathing, give
artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician and prepared to
transport the victim to hospital of symptoms developed.
Note to Physician: Atropine sulfate is the principal antidote, repeated doses may be necessary.
Pralidoxime chloride (2-PAM or protopam chloride) may be effective as an adjunct to
atropine treatment. Artificial respiration also may be needed.

SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES


Flash point: Not available
Extinguishing Media: Water spray, powder, carbon dioxide.
Special Fighting Procedures: Keep out of smoke. Keep people away. Fight fire upwind
position. Eliminate ignition sources. Keep out of low areas where gases of fumed can
accumulate. Consider use of unmanned hose holder of monitor nozzles. Use water spray to
cool fire exposed containers and fire affected zone until fire is out and the danger of reignition
has passed. Contain runoff by diking to prevent entry into sewers or waterways.
Positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and protective fire-fighting
clothing (including fire-fighting helmet, coat, pants, boots, gloves). Avoid contact with this
material during fire-fighting operations. Equipment or materials involved in pesticide fires
may become contained.

SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES


Isolate area and keep unauthorized people away. Do not walk through spilled material. Avoid
breathing dust and skin contact. Remove sources of ignition if combustible or flammable
vapors may be present and ventilate area. Wear proper protective equipment. Dike
contaminated area with absorbent granules, soil, sand, etc.
If spill large, material should be recovered.
Small spill can be absorbed with absorbent granules, spill control pads, or any absorbent
material. Carefully sweep up absorbed spilled material. Place in covered container for reuse or
disposal. Scrub contaminated area with detergent and bleach solution and/or detergent and lye
in water solution. Repeat. Rinse with water. Use dry absorbent material such as clay granules
to absorb and collect wash solution for proper disposal. Contaminated soil may have to be

removed and disposed. Do not allow material to enter streams, sewers, or other waterways or
contact vegetation.

SECTION 7: HANDLING AND STORAGE


Handling (Personnel): Avoid contact with eye and skin. Avoid breathing dust. Do not eat,
drink, use tobacco, or cosmetics in store area. Washing thoroughly after handling.
Users Should: Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the
toilet. Remove clothing immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on
clean clothing. Remove personal protective equipment immediately after handling this
product. Wash the outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly
and change into clean clothing
Storage: Store in well-ventilated area out of reach of children and animals, store in normal
condition, the period of guarantee quality is two years. Keep container tightly closed and out
of reach of children. Provide storage with automatic extinguishing system. Dot not store or
consume food, drink or tobacco in areas where they may become contaminated with this
material. Wastes resulting from the use of this product may be disposed of on site or at an
approved waste disposal facility.

SECTION 8: EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION


Users or anyone who has to handling or contacting with this product should firstly read the
personal protection. While handling, using and fighting fire of this product, cleaning
equipments, mixing or loading, following personal protective equipment should be used.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Inhalation: Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Skin: Protective gloves. Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Eyes: Safety goggles, face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
Ingestion: Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.

SECTION 10: STABILITY AND REACTIVITY


Stability: Dimethoate is relatively stable in aqueous media at pH 2~7.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.
Instability Conditions: Hydrolysed in alkaline solutions, decomposes on heating, forming the
O,S-dimethyl analogue.

Oral: Acute oral LD50 for female rats >300-2000 mg/kg
Skin: Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats >2000 mg/kg.
Irritating to eyes and skin (rabbits).
Inhalation: LC50 (4 h) for rats >1-5 mg/L.
Skin Sensitization: Skin sensitizer to guinea pigs

Birds: Acute oral LD50 for mallard ducks 42, bobwhite quail 10.5, Japanese quail 84,
ring-necked pheasants 14.1 mg/kg b.w. LC50 for mallard ducks 1011, bobwhite quail 154,
Japanese quail 346, ring-necked pheasants 396 ppm.
Fish: LC50 (96 h) for rainbow trout 30.2, bluegill sunfish 17.6 mg/l .
Daphnia: EC50 (48 h) 2 mg/l; NOEC (24 h) 1 mg/l.
Algae: EbC50 (72 h) for Selenastrum capricornutum 90.4 mg/l; ErC50 (72 h) for Selenastrum
capricornutum 90.4 mg/l; NOEC (72 h) 30.5 mg/l.
Bees: Toxic to bees; LD50 (oral) 0.15 μg/bee; (contact) 0.12 μg/bee.

SECTION 13: DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION


Container disposal: Empty container retains product residue. Observe all hazard precautions.
Container must first be decontaminated and then crushed and buried below topsoil. Care must

be taken to avoid subsequent contamination of water sources. Decontamination of containers
in order to use them for other purposes should not be permitted
