INSTRUCTIONS

ABOUT THE BRUSHES

Thanks for purchasing the Vintage Engraver! The pack contains a set of seamless vintage
engraved patterns which have been incorporated into the grain of the brushes.

The brushes have been saved into two grouped sets (‘.brushset’ files). One with the patterns
at 0 degrees and one at a 90 degree rotation.

You will need Procreate 4.1 or newer to install ‘.brushsets’.

Technical information: The textures used in each brush measure 2048 x 20148 px in size. As
they are seamless you can easily use them over larger areas.

HOW TO USE THE PACK - A BRIEF OVERVIEW

The textures are designed to overlay one an other, building up tone and texture. Add
multiple texture layers aligned at different angles to create darker tones (as shown below).

UNZIPPING THE BRUSHES

Before you can load the brushes you must unzip the brush files. Follow these steps:

ON A COMPUTER (MAC):

1. Double-click the ‘.zip’ file.

2. Locate the file or folder inside and move it to the location of your choice.

ON A COMPUTER (PC):

1. Right-click on the ‘.zip’ file.

2. Click ‘EXTRACT ALL’ and follow the instructions.

IF YOU DON’T OWN A COMPUTER:

Depending on your OS you may need a third party plug in to decompress a zip file on Ipad.
LOADING THE BRUSHES INTO PROCREATE

Once you’ve unzipped the brush file you can install it by following these steps:

1. Transfer the ‘.brushset’ file/s from your computer to your Ipad. Using a cloud service such
as ‘Dropbox’.

2. On your Ipad Open the Dropbox app and locate the folder into which you saved the
‘.brushset’ file.

3. Tap the ‘.brushset’ file and click the ‘...’ icon.

4. Click ‘Export’, ‘Open In...’ and then tap ‘Copy to Procreate’.

5. Open Procreate. Your new brush set will appear at the top of the brush library.

Please note: if you have MacOS 10.11 or newer, you can use ‘Airdrop’ to transfer and install the
brushes in one go.

IMPORTANT: Don’t use Procreate’s brush panel import function – this is designed for single
brushes only and won’t work with .brushset files.

DRAWING WITH THE BRUSHES

To draw with the brushes simply select a brush from the ‘Brush Library’ and draw.

You will most likely want to fill large areas with vintage texture quickly. To do this use a brush
at 100% size and draw continuously until the area is filled.

The patterns have a transparent background so you can easily layer up contrasting textures
to create tone.

The textures have been supplied in zero and 90 degree rotations. To create texture at other
angles please follow the instructions below.

CUSTOM TEXTURE ROTATION

The textures have been supplied in zero and 90 degree rotations. To rotate them at other
angles please follow these steps:

1. Fill an area with your chosen texture by drawing with a brush.

2. Click the ‘Transform’ arrow icon at the top of the screen.

3. Click the ‘Freeform’ icon then rotate your texture by moving the green anchor point.
