EXPERIENCE
Centre for Biocomposites and Biomaterials Processing May – Oct 2024
Research Intern · University of Toronto
• Developed a novel method of producing graphene-based nanomaterials for reducing heat generation in automotive Li-ion
batteries. Achieved >150 S/cm conductivity at a total cost of $1.22/g – up to 50% cheaper than existing processes.
• Saved 20+ hours of productive time by creating versatile data processing tools in Python and MATLAB, enabling automatic
statistical analysis, outlier removal, and 2D/3D visualization for data from 300+ trials.
• Increased production rate by 7% by designing quick release fixtures to minimize material handling and set-up times.
• Quantified results by performing and/or interpreting ATR, contact angle, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, and XRD experiments.

DESIGN TEAMS & PROJECTS

University of Toronto Formula Racing Team Sept 2022 – Present
Senior Suspension Member
• Eliminated 340 g of rotating unsprung mass by redesigning the front wheel hubs in SOLIDWORKS for the 2025 car. Utilized
DFM principles to efficiently optimize the stiffness-to-weight ratio while ensuring cost-effective 4-axis machinability.
• Lightened the Ackermann steering linkage by 45% using generative design and topology studies. Validated the final design
using static structural FEA in ANSYS to ensure a 2.0 safety factor and fatigue lifespan of 10⁵ fully reversed cycles.
• Sped up the pre-drive setup by 10% through designing a tool-free jig for measuring and adjusting the wheel toe angle.
• Saved $800+ USD after recalculating the strength and longevity criteria for the car’s 56 rod ends and spherical bearings.
Airliner Landing Gear Redesign Sept – Dec 2024
Simulation Lead
• Increased the extended height by 38 cm to facilitate large-diameter engine retrofits by integrating a new slider-crank
mechanism. Ensured cross-compatibility by matching the existing design’s actuation time, load capacity, and retracted size.
• Validated performance and physical feasibility by implementing numerical force and kinematic analysis in MATLAB.
• Facilitated real-time visualization of the resulting kinematic data by creating custom GUIs using MATLAB App Designer.
High-Speed, Low-Cost 3D Printer Design Sept – Dec 2023
Team Lead
• Exceeded 20 m/s² print head acceleration goal by creatively relocating non-essential components off the moving gantry
and lightweighting essential ones while maintaining <0.05 mm nozzle deflection to ensure acceptable print quality.
• Verified print head safety with SOLIDWORKS heat transfer simulations, ensuring all ABS plastic parts stayed below 105 °C.
• Led the writing of a 40-page report explaining the team’s objectives and design process, earning a perfect overall grade.
