maintenance of VRP10 pressure regulating valve.
VRP10 pressure regulating valve works for low pressure and fits natural gas, air, propane and
industrial use.

FUNCTIONING

VRP10 pressure regulating valve has been planned to be use in pre-heating systems, the action
bottom is placed underneath the diaphragm. This valve works as the closed ones.
When necessary, pressure acting underneath the diaphragm prevails against the opposite strength
of the range spring and opens the valve by removing the shutter from its seat, and allowing the fluid
to run.
2. INSTALLATION
The installation must be carried out only by qualified staff.
WARNINGS REGARDING THE USE OF THE PRESSURE VASSEL IN POTENTIALLY
EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE DIRECTIVE 94/9/CE

 The valve meets the requirements of group II category 2 G related to non-electric

devices suitable for Zone 1.
 The device is provided with a threaded connection and a screw for the link to the ground
equipotential connection which should be carried out according to CEI applicable
norms.
 Moreover, all the components of the set which will be joint through flanged or threaded
connections, as well as other systems, (piping to be connected to the device, interception
and security valves, the insulation covering and other accessories) will have to be
effectively linked to the ground equipotential connection according to CEI applicable
regulations.
 Connections must be carried out by qualified staff, who will operate according to CEI
applicable norms and regulations. In addition, you’ll have to draw up a checking report
of the electric continuity of the ground connection.
 The disconnection, even temporary, of the equipment from the ground equipotential
connection is not allowed.
 It is essential that, even during maintenance operations, both the equipment and the
bolted or screwed components remain effectively linked to the ground connection
and that convenient equipment is used, in order to avoid any danger of electrostatic
discharge.
 Electric continuity throughout surfaces of bolted or threaded components should be
assured even after maintenance operations (there shouldn’t be any trace of painting on
communicating surfaces).
 It is forbidden to use free flames or non-suitable electric equipments for the device
installation zone.
 Maintenance staff will have to be properly trained also for facing risks deriving from the
device arrangement in a Zone 1 and Zone 2 potentially explosive atmosphere. Moreover,
the staff will operate according to security regulations with reference also to the area
classification.
 Prescriptions deriving from Directive 94/9/CE and related Decrees of accomplishment
will have to be carried into effect; furthermore, Legislative Decree 626 and applicable
regulations will have to be observed.
 The valve, particularly its non- stainless steel parts, will have to be protected against
rust formation. Do not damage the protecting painting.
 The system is provided with a vent with a 1/4NPT threaded connection in order to carry
methane emissions in a safer place, in case of diaphragm damage.
 Inspections provided in current regulations will have to be carried out.
 Duration of the equipment: it is specified in the instructions and maintenance section.
Do not use the equipment after the specified dates ( referring to the activity period and
to the maintenance period), in order to avoid the risk of the UNI CIG 10702 – 9571
diaphragm breaking.
 Do not ever tamper with the provided devices.
 [Link] Crosta Srl firm disclaims all responsibility in case of the non-observation of the
warnings enlisted above.
VRP10 valve may be oriented at any direction, connections being marked by inlet and outlet fluid
arrows.
Before installing VRP10 valve it is necessary:
- to find the leading pipe and discharge it
- pipe must be cleaned and free from dust
- to install VRP10 valve by screwing the connection marked by the inlet arrow
- To connect the ventilation hole to the vent to channel the discharge in case of diaphragm
rupture.

The valve has been provided with a range spring suitable for the requested area, or, when needed,
already ranged and tested to the requested pressures.

- After the installation, please verify that all operative conditions are in accordance with the
regulator features.
- Open the on-off valve upstream very slowly and regulate ranging pressure using a
manometer, and its regulating screw if necessary.

A very simple maintenance is one the main features of this valve.
Before any maintenance operation, be sure that the piping upstream and downstream on-off valve is
intercepted and discharged; the same should be done with the pressure of the regulator.
Maintenance durability is related to the quantity of gas used (impuryty, humidity, etc.) and it refers
to the use of the device which, in any case, doesn’t exceed 2 years.

Before beginning disassembly operations you’ll need a set of spare parts to hand.

The assembly and disassembly of the system do not require specific equipments. Do not tamper with
the VRP10 valve before the pipe has been intercepted and completely de-pressurized. The non-
observance of these instructions may cause anomalies to the product integrity and dangers for
operators.

DISASSEMBLY

- Switch off the downstream on-off valve and discharge the pipe acting on the downstream valve;
-Loosen nut and unscrew regulating screw;
-unscrew the cap and remove the spring;
-Loosen position screws;
-remove positions screws;
- slip off the shaft after having screwed the nut;
- remove the diaphragm and the shutter slipping off the plug;
-replace overused parts with the spare kit.
ASSEMBLY

-Install the plug and assembly the shutter to the shaft;

-slip the shaft into the flange and fix the diaphragm using the nut;
-screw the screws and fix the cap;
-insert the range plug and screw the cap;
reset the range acting on the regulating screw.
