formation with two examples for each.

2. Describe how foreign roots and affixes contribute to English vocabulary. Give five roots with
their meanings and two example words each.

3. What are acronyms and how are they different from abbreviations? Discuss with ten suitable
examples.

Module 2: Basic Writing Skills

4. Define and illustrate simple, compound, and complex sentences with appropriate examples.
Transform five sentences from one type to the other.

5. Discuss the use of phrases and clauses in sentence formation. Explain how they help in
building narrative and cohesive writing.

6. What is coherence and cohesion in paragraph writing? Explain with two sample paragraphs,
one coherent and one incoherent.

Module 3: Identifying Common Errors in Writing

7. Identify and correct the errors in the following areas with examples:
a) Subject-verb agreement
b) Noun-pronoun agreement
c) Articles

8. Define and illustrate misplaced modifiers, redundancies, and clichés with examples. Rewrite
faulty sentences correctly.

Module 4: Nature and Style of Sensible Writing

9. Define and differentiate between descriptive, defining, and classifying writing styles.
Provide one example paragraph for each.

10. Explain the importance of providing examples or evidence in technical or academic writing.
Illustrate with two sample paragraphs.
