School Facilities Observation Checklist

Office of The Principal

- The office of the principal has a good atmosphere. It is neat and clean,
the documents are well arranged and well-organized.
- The office of the principal can contribute to student’s learning through
raising queries comfortably.

Library

- There are plenty of books which are arranged well. The area is well
ventilated and spacious for the students to stay and read.
- Learners can make their research at ease. By having access on the
library, the learners can widen their knowledge through reading
different books relevant to their studies.

Canteen

- It is clean and wide for students to occupy. They are serving healthy
foods for the students and also for the school staffs.
- With the facility of canteen, it can help students fill their empty
stomach.

Covered Court

- It is wide and covered. It is also have a good ventilation to make it


more comfortable for students if there are events in the school.
- This can be used for activities related to P.E.. Students can also show
their talents in sports by practicing or playing in the gymnasium.

Garden

- There are different plants and flowers. It is clean, has nice view and
relaxing.
- Cleaning environment can be developed to students. They can also
refresh their minds in garden after an exhausting class.
Guidance Office

- The atmosphere is pleasing. It is clean and neat.


- Personal issues of students that may be affecting their learnings can be
assisted.

Comfort Room for Boys

- The comfort room for boys is located at the back of the stage. All the
toilet are functiononal.
- The comfort room provides therapeutic environment where boys can
calm themselves.

Comfort Room for Girls

- The comfort room for girls is located at the back of the stage. All the
toilet are functiononal.
- The comfort room provides therapeutic environment where girls can
calm themselves.

An Observation Guide for the CLASSROOM VISIT

1. Describe the community or neighborhood where the school is found.


- Observing the community where the school is found, where it can be
easily seen because it is only on the side of the road. Our school has a
big arc In front of the school and there are stores around it that provide
the needs of students and teachers.
2. Describe the school campus. What colors do you see? What’s is the
condition of the buildings?
- The school is compose of old and new buildings, a wide space for
interactive activities, accessible facilities, offices and services. The
color that dominates the campus are white and blue. Although not all
buildings are good as new, they are still functional and useful for
students learning activities.
3. Pass by the offices. What impression do you have of these offices?
- The offices are structured and organized. They are located
conveniently so people would find them easily. They have bulletin
board displayed outside their offices to keep people informed of the
latest announcements and memos.
4. Walk through the school halls, the library, the cafeteria. Look around
and find out the other facilities that school has.
- The school halls are clean, there are students in the library silently
reading their books, some are working.

Classroom Facilities Matrix

1. Teacher’s Table
- The teacher’s table is placed in center in front facing the students. It
looks used but still functional.
2. Learner’s Desk
- There are about 40-50 desks that are arranged 5 each side and rows.
The space is enough for the students to feel comfortable sitting and
writing.
3. White Board
- The white board is almost as long as the width of the wall. There are
white board markers and eraser placed in the center. The board is good
as new.
4. Lightings
- There are four fluorescent lamps and all of them are functional.
5. Fan
- There are 5 fans
6. Shoe Rack
- Found outside beside the door.

1. How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the
learning of the students to school? What are your conclusion?
- The school campus and the classroom are the learning spaces of the
students. Everything that makes up the school and classroom influence
the result of the student’s learning whether it is effective or
unsuccessful. If the school and classroom are well-organized, the
students are willing to learn.

2. How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent


development/How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating
learning?
- If the school is well and properly managed, the students must give
positive input and must help the students in shaping their values and
help them grow.

REFLECT

1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed?
Why? Why not?
- Yes, as I was observing I noticed that there are still many who hope
and are willing to learn through us future teachers. I want my students
to access the learning facilities and resources that are significant for
their learning and development. And I also want to give them
opportunities for the students to develop their performance and the
value of quality education.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?


- Schools that are safe and secured, clean and eco-friendly, free from
any type of distraction and the most important is it allows students to
learn effectively by encouraging them, be independent and be leaders.
And also helps in developing values among students and apply it in
everyday life.

3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?


- Classroom that is organized, functional, near and clean, where
students allows for comfortable space to learn effectively, feel the
sense of belongingness and appreciation and positivity.

- School is a place where we study and learn. It is where we learn new
knowledge, gain valuable experience, build social relationship and
develop meaningful values within ourselves. But to achieve all of
these, school must be safe space for learning, quality education, allow
easy access to learning resources and provides opportunities for
independent but experiential learning for students.

- The purpose of the board display is to inform the students about the
latest updates and to motivate them to engage through participating
on school activities or upcoming projects.

- I think it reflects the interest of its target audience who are the
students.

3. Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to
understand? Why? Why not?
- The language used is English. It uses simple words as the labels of the
information or materials posted. The font sizes are also legible from a
distance.

4. Was the board display effective? Why? Why not?


- Yes, the board display is effective in information aspect.
5. What suggestion can you make?
- I’m suggesting to pay attention to the design and lay-out of the
materials because these aspect are the key of effectiveness of the
board display and to achieve its purposes which are to inform and
motivate the students.
