Course on the Universe and Rocket Science
Program Overview
This specialized Course on the Universe and Rocket Science is designed to provide aspiring students
with an in-depth understanding of space exploration, rocket science, and related technological
advancements. The course will be conducted by Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, in collaboration with the
Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) and the Institution of Engineers (India) – Kuwait Chapter (IEI
Kuwait Chapter).
The program consists of structured online lectures, followed by practical exposure through visits to
ISRO's space facilities in India and an exclusive visit to Russia's space agency for selected top-
performing students.
Objectives of the Program
1. To encourage and share space technology knowledge with the Kuwaiti community and students
in Kuwait, fostering their interest in the space and rocket science sector in collaboration with IEI
Kuwait Chapter (IEI KC) and KSE.
2. To provide proper knowledge sharing, guidance, and professional advice to IEI KC members'
families, students from Indian schools in Kuwait, and those genuinely interested in space
and rocket science.
3. To provide students with knowledge of fundamental and advanced concepts in astronomy and
rocket science.
4. To expose participants to real-world space research, rocket launch pads, and astronaut
training centers.
Selection Process
1. Eligibility: The program is open to high/higher secondary school students ( 8th Standard – 12th
Standard) with an interest in science &technology and Space Rocket science.
2. Registration Deadline: 05 May, 2025
3. Selection Method:
o Screening Test (Online Aptitude Test) – 9 May, 2025
o Shortlisted candidates will be notified for the final selection by 16 May, 2025.
o Successful candidates will be enrolled in the course starting 23 May, 2025.

Class Days: Fridays and Saturdays

Study Tour and Visits
ISRO Visit (18 July 2025- Tentatively)
Participants will visit India’s space research facilities, rocket production units, and launch sites. The
proposed ISRO centers for the study tour include:
Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota – Tentatively
Russia Visit (19 September 2025) Tentatively
Selective candidates will visit Russia’s leading space research and astronaut training centers:
Russian Academy of Sciences – Space Research Institute – Tentatively
