31 The Air-Quality Index (AQI) tells us how clean or polluted the air in a region is. AQI Is 5
measured across six categories, namely, Good, Satisfactory, Moderately Polluted, Poor, Very
Poor and Severe. These categories range across index measures from 0 to 500, 0 being Good, and
500 being Severe. So, higher the AQI, more polluted, the air is.

The line graph below depicts, the AQI of New Delhi, which is the national capital of India,
across one week.
Study the graph and answer the questions that follow.
a. Which day was the year the most polluted? What was the AQI?
b. On which day was the air cleanest?
c. By how much did the AQI increase from Wednesday to Thursday?
d. What is the AQI on Saturday? Is the air-quality on Saturday? Better than the air-quality
on Sunday?

basketball court and a square garden next to it.
