INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

1. Owing to the nature of this three-hour examination, it is important to note that you
will NOT be permitted to leave the examination room before the end of the
examination period.

2. Insert your name and surname in the header of every document that you create
or save.

3. The invigilator will give you a disk containing ALL the files needed for the
examination or you will be told where the files can be found on the network. If a
disk has been issued to you, you must write your name on the label.

4. A copy of the master files will be available from the invigilator. Should you
accidentally corrupt the files given to you, you may request further copies from the
invigilator.

5. Make sure that you save each document using the given file names. Save your
work at regular intervals, as a precaution against possible power failures.

6. Read through EACH question carefully before answering or solving the problem.
Do NOT do more than required for the question.

7. At the end of the examination, you must hand in the disk given to you by the
invigilator or make sure that ALL the files have been saved on the network as
explained to you by the invigilator/teacher. Ensure that ALL files can be read.

8. During the examination, you may make use of the help functions of the programs
which you are using. You may NOT use any other resource material.

9. Note that if data is derived from a previous question, that you cannot answer, you
should still proceed with the questions that follow.

10. For ALL questions revolving around word processing, the language should be set
to English (South African) and the paper size is assumed to be A4 portrait, unless
otherwise instructed.

SCENARIO

Your school has decided to hold an annual Spring day to raise funds for more computer
centres. Each class will be responsible for different activities on the fun day.

QUESTION 1 (WORD PROSESSING)


CAT learners were asked to design a poster to advertise the Spring day.
Open the 1Poster_Plakkaat word prosessing document.

Follow the instructions below to resemble the example above.

1.1 Format the WordArt at the top of the page as follows:

1.1.1 Change the outline to a 3 pt dotted line (3)

1.1.2 Fill the WordArt with a gradient effect. Use 2 colours of your choice (2)

1.1.3 WordArt must be centered horizontally on the page and (1)

1.1.4 Use the curve down shape (1)

1.1.5 Apply a 3-D rotation shape effect to the text (1)

1.2 Change the list below 'Activities include' to a bulleted list. Use the symbol (2)
Wingdings, character code 74, as the bullet.

1.3 Change all the bullets and text to a blue font colour. (1)

1.4 Open the word processing document, 1Dog_Hond. Copy the image in the (1)
document and paste it in the poster.

1.4.1 Change the picture to resemble the example above (1)

1.4.2 Format the picture in such a way that the bulleted text appears to
the right of the picture (1)

1.4.3 Ensure that the poster fits on one page only, as in the example (1)

QUESTION 2 (WORD PROCESSING)

CAT learners were asked to help with the formatting of a document to the parents.

Open the 2Motivation_Motivering word processing document and format as


follows:

2.1 Line 1: Apply the Heading 1 style to the title, 'Why more computer centres at
our school?', and change the title to uppercase. (2)

2.2 Change the paragraph starting with 'To help you understand ...' in line 3 – 4
as follows:

2.2.1 Justify the paragraph (1)

2.2.2 Change the paragraph to a hanging indent by 2 cm (2)

2.2.3 Add a double line border around the paragraph (1)

2.3 Insert a Drop Cap for the first letter of the paragraph in line 8, (the letter 'W' of
the sentence that starts with 'We have heard...'). (1)

2.3.1 Drop the letter with 2 lines (1)

2.3.2 Position it 0.5 cm from the text (1)

2.3.3 Change the font colour to blue (1)

2.4 Double underline the acronym 'ICT,' and change it to bold throughout the
document. (3)

2.5 Apply any light shading to the text of the paragraph starting with 'The true
value...' and ending with '....as a cognitive tool.' (Line 21) (1)

2.6 Add a new blank page at the beginning of the document. Ignore the line 1
appearing at the top left of the page. (2)

2.7 Add a page border of your choice only to the first page of the document. (2)

2.8 Insert the picture 2Comp Centre_Rek Sentrum as a watermark. (2)

2.9 Insert automatic page numbering in the footer, on the left side, excluding the

QUESTION 3 (WORD PROCESSING)

The school decided to send a newsletter to the parents to inform them of all school events.
The newsletter needs some formatting before it can be distributed.

Open the 3News_Nuus word processing document and format as indicated below:

3.1 Create a letterhead for the newsletter. Study the example below
before carrying out the instructions:

3.1.1 Place a 3 pt shadowed paragraph border around the letterhead (3)

3.1.2 Insert the current date that will update automatically to the left of (3)
'Volume 7/2010', using the same format as shown in the example
above

3.2 Change the paragraph spacing of the rest of the document below the (2)
letterhead, to 6 pt after each paragraph.

3.3 Locate the text, '1st prize' (highlighted in yellow) that appears in the second (1)
column at the beginning of page 2. Change the '1st' to appear as '1st' prize'.

3.4 Format the 2 columns at the beginning of page 2 as follows:

3.4.1 Resize the image of the food hamper to exactly 4 cm high and 5 cm (2)
wide

3.4.2 Insert a line between the columns (1)

3.4.3 Change the spacing between the columns to 2 cm (1)

3.5 In the next paragraph below the columns, locate the words @ R20 (1)
(highlighted in green) and use a word processing feature to ensure that the
two words will never split over two lines.

3.6 Locate the table below the heading 'MEDICAL INFORMATION' on page 3
and format it as follows:

3.6.1 Merge the top row of the table (1)

3.6.2 Shade this row light green (1)

3.6.3 Delete the 3rd row (1)

3.6.8 Ensure that the table fits automatically (autofit) on the page by
making use of a word processing function (1)

3.7 Copy the graph from the spreadsheet 3Stats_Statistieke and paste it below
the table where indicated, (highlighted in yellow). (2)

3.8 Format the text below the heading 'IMPORTANT DATES' on the 2nd last
page, using a tab setting on 12 cm, with leader dots to resemble the events
as shown below:

QUESTION 4 (SPREADSHEET)

Visitors and learners can pay to play computer games. They may enter as
individuals or as members of a team. A spreadsheet was set by the organisers but
it still needs some adjustments.

Open the 4Fun_Pret spreadsheet. Work in the Games worksheet.

4.1 Change the layout of the sheet to landscape. (1)

4.2 Merge and centre cells A1:G2. (1)

4.3 Fill the merged cells with a dotted pattern on a light purple coloured
background, like the example shown below. (2)

4.4 Wrap the text in cell H3. (1)

4.5 Unhide column C. (1)

4.6 Add numbers in column A from 1 to 28. (1)

4.7 Use a function to display the date in cell I1. Format the date to dd/mmm/yy. (2)

4.8 Change the cell formatting in column G to display in South African Rand
with 2 decimal places. (1)

4.9 Insert a function in cell H4 to determine the total of all the fees in column G. (2)

4.10 Add a function in cell I4 to choose a random number from column A,


representing the Player number of a player. This player will win a prize. (2)

4.11 Sort the worksheet from cells A3:G31 first according to Surname and then
to Name. (2)

4.12 Change the tab colour of the worksheet to dark purple. (1)

4.13 Add a formula in cell C8 to determine how many groups of 15 players are
there. (2)

4.14 Each group has to pay R30.00 (D6) to enter the competition. Use a formula
in cell D8 to calculate the total amount due, by making use of absolute cell
reference. (3)

4.15 A line chart was previously created but needs a few more changes.

4.15.1 Add a linear trend line (1)

4.15.2 Change the gridlines to minor gridlines (1)

4.15.3 Format the chart area to a light green colour (1)

4.16 Create a pie chart/graph to show the proportion of funds raised by each of
the four groups (cells A8:B11). (2)

4.16.1 Place the graph in row 14 below the data (1)

4.16.2 Use example below and format the layout options as follows:

QUESTION 5 (SPREADSHEET)

As part of the Spring day, a mathematics competition will be held. Learners get 50
mathematical problems to complete in a maximum time of 1 hour. The one that has
the most problems correct in the shortest time will be the winner.

Open the 5Numbers_Syfers spreadsheet document. Work in the Maths Magic


worksheet.

5.1 Each learner gets 50 questions to answer. Use a formula in cell G3 to


calculate the percentage of questions that Kim Adam answered correctly. (3)

5.2 Use a function in cell J4 to determine the average number of sums which the
learners answered correctly. Display no decimal places (3)

5.3 Insert a function in cell J5 to calculate the correct number of sums that the
majority of learners obtained. (2)

5.4 Use a function in cell J6 to determine the highest number of sums obtained
correctly in the competition. (2)

5.5 A second prize will be given to the learner with the second highest number of
sums correct. Determine this score in cell J7. (column F) (2)

5.6 Determine the time in which the fastest learner completed his or her 50
questions by making use of a function in cell J8. (2)

5.7 Calculate how many learners had less than 17 correct out of 50. Use a
function in cell J9 to determine the outcome. (3)

5.8 Insert a function in cell J10 to calculate how many learners dropped out of
