1 Introduction
The aim of this report is to present the longitudinal analysis and design of 54 m box girder spans
without any radius of curvature.

The proposed viaduct has precast post-tensioned segmental UHPFRC box girder type of
superstructure.

Following Points are considered for the design:

Width of Bridge / Viaduct = 8.8 m
Track Spacing = 4.2 m

DIFFERENTIAL SHRINKAGE CALCULATION FOR IB 850- GIRDER

Now, the differential shrinkage strain will be the difference between the total shrinkage strain of cast in
situ deck slab and the shrinkage strain of the girder that takes place after the deck slab is cast.
Δεdiff = εcs (Cast in situ deck slab) – εcs (Precast Girder)
= 3.04E-04 - 0.00E+00
Differential shrinkage strain Δεdiff = 3.04E-04
Modulus of elasticity of concrete = 3.76E+07 kN/m2
Coefficient of creep = 2.224 for deck slab
Reduction factor to allow for creep = 0.40 IRC 112 Clause no. 6.4.2.4(4)(iii)
Differential shrinkage stress σdiff = 1.22E-04 x 3.76E+07
= 4592.46 kN/m2
Tensile force in slab due to differential shrinkage = 2640.66 kN

ECCENTRICITY = 0.2260 m
