Mathematics
Project-Work
Introduction:
The project is a piece of written work based on personal research involving the collection, analysis and
evaluation of data.

Project must contain


• A title
• A statement of the task
• Measurements, information or data which has been collected and/or generated
• An analysis measurements, information or data
• An evaluation of the analysis
• Acknowledgement, bibliography and footnotes, as appropriate.

Aims:
The aim of the projects is to enable students to:
• Appreciate the multicultural and historical perspectives of all subjects
• Enjoy the course and develop an appreciation of the elegance, power and usefulness of the subjects
• Develop logical, critical and creative thinking
• Employ and refine their powers of abstraction and generalization
• Develop patience and persistence in problem solving
• Appreciate the consequences arising from technological developments
• Transfer skills to alternative situations and to future developments
• Communicate clearly and confidently in a variety of contexts

Objectives:
Students will be expected to know and use mathematical concepts and principles. Students must be able to:
• Read, interpret and solve a given problem using proper mathematical terms. • organize and present
information and data in tabular, graphical and/or diagrammatic forms. • know and use appropriate
notation and terminology.
• Formulate mathematical strategies and techniques.
• Apply mathematical knowledge to solve real life problems
• Use technology.
• Demonstrate an understanding of both the significance and the reasonableness of the results.
• Recognize and demonstrate an understanding of the practical applications of mathematics. • use
appropriate technological devices as mathematical tools.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate use of mathematical modelling.

4. Area of Polygons
5. Design a geometrical city using polygons

II Theory of Numbers
1 Introduction : Origin of numbers

5 Application of numbers in real life.

III Vedic Maths


1. Introduction: Who invented Vedic Maths?
2. What is history of Vedic Maths
3. Advantages of Vedic Maths
4. Uses of Vedic maths.
5. Concept and tricks of Vedic Maths

IV Data Handling
1. Introduction to Data Handling
2. Uses of Data Handling
3. Types of Data
4. Different ways to represent Data

V Trigonometry and its Application


1. Introduction to the topic Trigonometry
2. Use of Trigonometry in Daily Life
3. Application of Trigonometry

General instructions:
1. Calculators, internet, M.S. word, MS excel, MS PowerPoint can be used.
