Manganese(II) sulfate(VI)
56 Manganese(II) sulfate(VI) solutions
Manganese(II) sulfate(VI) forms many hydrates. The 1-water (monohydrate) and 4-water (tetrahydrate)
forms appear to be the most readily available.

Preparing manganese(II) sulfate(VI) solutions
1. Wear eye protection.
2. Weigh out the indicated mass of hydrated manganese(II) sulfate(VI) salt.
3. Add the solid to about two-thirds of the final volume of water in a beaker or laboratory jug.
4. Stir to dissolve. Warm gently if necessary (use a glass beaker).
5. If a beaker has been used, pour the solution into an appropriately-sized measuring cylinder or
laboratory jug and add water to the required final volume. Mix well.
6. Pour the solution into a labelled bottle. Include hazard warning and/or control measure information on
the label if appropriate.
