7.0 PLANT, MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT
Mobile cranes, piling rig and etc as applicable.
8.0 PREPARATORY WORKS
8.1 Obtain relevant approved construction drawings from structural consultant.
8.2 Set out relative to securely marked or pegged reference lines and datum
levels using serviceable equipment appropriate to the circumstances.
9.0 WORK METHODOLOGY
9.1 Shear or saw the reinforcement to the required length.
9.2 The piles used for the project shall be square piles normally cast in six (6),
nine (9) meters and twelve (12) lengths. Concrete strength of the piles shall
be at minimum of 45MPa and no piles shall be used until it has reached the
strength of 45Pa.
9.3 The piling rig shall be drop or hydraulic hammer type.
9.4 Piles are first fabricated in full length on the pile fabrication yard and cured
adequately. They shall then be transfer to the site stockyard and ready for
piling operation.
9.5 The piling pints shall first be set out by the surveyor to ensure that all piles
installed are as per indicated on the drawings.
9.6 During piling operation, the piles will be picked up by the piling machine using
the lifting cable. The lifting sequence will be such that one end of the piles will
raised (pile head) while the other end is lowered down in order to make the
piles up right.
9.7 The piles shall then be guided to the pile position and lowered down to the
correct peg set by the surveyor on the ground.
9.8 The hammer with the helmet shall then be lowered down and mounted on top
the pile head.
9.9 The pile shall be guided to ensure verticality before driving begins. Verticality
of the pile shall be maintained by using sighting vertical lines achieved using
two plumb bobs positioned at 90 degrees to each other.
9.10 Once the pile has been positioned at 90 degrees to each other.

9.11 Initially, pile driving will start with small single blows and will continue to drive
until it meets driving criteria specified by the engineer.
9.12 Pile setting shall be taken by placing graph paper into the pile body and
marked with pencil the settlement achieved is less than that required from
computation, the pile is considered set the rig shall be moved to another pile
position for the installation of the new pile. (Note: Computation from either
