The DCON has been revised from v61.03 to v62.02, RCON from v21.01 to v22.01, and Staple Finisher/
Booklet Finisher-A1 (Saddle) from v10.01 to v12.02 due to field error modifications.

GENERAL:
This Technical Publication is to inform the field on the release of v61.04.04 V2 for the imageRUNNER
ADVANCE C9075 PRO/ C9065 PRO/ C7065/ C7055 copiers which address several field claims.
Note:
Canon USA is not responsible to provide previously released versions of System Software and it is
recommended to archive them on your company server. Only the latest System Software version is
posted on the Canon e-Support website.

Note:
A Fiery Patch “1-19Q9P5” has been released for the ColorPASS-GX300 (TP11 034.pdf) and
Fiery Patch “1-19Q9PI” for the imagePASS-A1 (TP11 036.pdf) to v1.0 in order to fix a jam issue
that is reported at the DADF when ColorCal calibration is performed. Also, the Paper Folding
Unit-G1 Firmware has been revised from v3.01 to v4.01 or higher to correct an error with the C-
fold delivery tray.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Upgrading the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7000/ C9000 Series to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE
C7000/ C9000 Series_V2].
When upgrading firmware v45.02.01 or earlier to v55.12.01 or higher using CDS, additional space for the
extended HOLD function is required.
We will provide you with firmware v46.01 on CDS, which supports space for this extended function on
CDS.
When upgrading the firmware to v55.12.01 or higher using CDS, make sure to upgrade to v46.01.01 first.

When upgrading the firmware v55.12.01 or higher using the SST or USB, the HOLD function will be
downloaded. If the hold function icon does not show, re-download the UI-Hold again.
When upgrading the firmware v45.02.01 or earlier to v55.12.01 or higher using CDS, an error notification
will be sent to email addresses set with CDS and device/server (Code: 82007303, Message: Firm
information was not corresponding) because required space is not secured. (However, the space for
extended HOLD function will be secured after upgrading the firmware to v55.12.01 or higher.) Therefore,
the HOLD function can be downloaded if the firmware is upgraded to v55.12.01 or higher from CDS again.

CDS is a new service infrastructure where the system software is pushed to the imageRUNNER
ADVANCE C9075 PRO/ C9065 PRO/ C7065/ C7055 by ways of the internet.
Service Support Tool:
To manually upgrade the System Software other than the use of CDS, the “Assist Mode” button and
“Single” mode, are the only way to perform a full upgrade with the use of the Service Support Tool
v4.33Ez.
USB Flash Drive:
Flashing the System Software by use of a USB Flash Drive is supported.

Canon U.S.A., Inc. is providing the latest “Executable” (.EXE) System Software files described in this
technical publication for download only from the Canon e-Support website for each authorized
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9075 PRO/ C9065 PRO/ C7065/ C7055 series dealer.

EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
This system software will not be exported from the United States except in strict accordance with

MEAPCont contains SSOHLogin.jar.

Limitations of version upgrading:
When TX settings are changed by the "Change Default Settings" function from Access
Stored Files Inbox and Memory RX Inbox, the settings are cleared upon version
upgrading. Be sure to follow the steps below and take notes of the settings to be
cleared during version upgrading; then enter the settings you got again after upgrading
System Software to 52.01 or higher.
Procedure to be followed at version upgrading:
1. On UI, check if the settings of items written in (1) and (2) below (the settings that
are cleared at version upgrading) have been changed from the default values.
2. If the settings have been changed, take notes of the new settings.
3. Upgrade System Software to v52.01 or higher.

4. On UI, enter the settings you got in Step 2 again.

Limitations of version downgrading:
When upgrading to System software v52.01 or higher, many specifications have been
changed, and therefore, if the version is downgraded after upgrading, the setting values
are not kept. For this reason, be sure to perform the following when downgrading
system software lower than v52.01.
Procedure to be followed at version downgrading:
1. Back up the data under Settings/Registration:
Remote UI > Management Settings > Data Management > Import/Export
(Target data)

* Forwarding settings
* Settings/registration
* Web access favorites
* Printer settings

2. Output data set in Settings/Registration The following service mode will print out
the Settings/Registration data that are not backed up in list format.

5. Restore the backup data

FLASHING THE PROFESSIONAL PUNCHER UNIT-C1


Upgrade Procedure:
This section is to provide details on how to perform a firmware upgrade for the Professional Puncher-C1
using the HyperTerminal Communication tool.
Details:
With the recent release of new firmware on the Professional Punch Unit-C1, this Technical Publication will
attempt to present a more refined and hopefully easier procedure than what is found in the Professional
Punch-C1 Service Manual.
Servicing Procedure:
Required Tools:
USB to RS-232 Serial DB9 Adapter (See Figure1 and Note #1)
Null Modem Cable; TL4199 (See Figure 2 and Note #2)

Note #1:
The USB to RS-232 Serial DB9 Adapter is not provided by Canon U.S.A., Inc. No part number is available for this
item. This item can be purchased at any computer super store or online such as StarTech.com. Also during the
installation of the USB to RS-232 Serial DB9 Adapter, load the USB Adapter Driver provided by the manufacturer.

Note #2:
The Null Modem Cable part number is TL4199. When ordering this item, there are no spaces before or after the number.
This item can also be purchased at any computer super store or online.

Note #3:
Moving the Professional Puncher-C1 folder to your windows desktop will make it easier to browse to this location later
on in the setup procedure.

Upgrade Procedure:
1. Turn OFF imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9075 PRO Series main body.
2. Attach the male end (RS-232 Serial DB9 connecter) of the USB to RS-232 Serial DB9 Adapter to one
end of the null modem cable.
3. Connect the USB adapter to your laptop.
4. Remove the plastic cover from the nine (9) pin connector (located on the lower back cover of the
Professional Puncher-C1 and connect the other end of the null modem cable to the nine (9) pin
connector. Turn on your laptop computer.

5. Launch Windows Application: Hyper Terminal (Go to Program> Accessories> Communications>


Hyper Terminal).

6. When the following screen appears input any name in the “Name Box”, choose the default “Icon” (Red
and Yellow Telephone) and click “OK”.

7. The following screen appears. Select the appropriate “COM” port (See Note #4) in “Connect using”.

If COM Port is unknown see note #4

Note #4:
After installing the USB Adapter driver software, open the windows Device Manager Tab on your system (The USB
Adapter will always take the next available COM port. Therefore, if COM1and COM2 is already in use the USB
Adapter will take the next available COM port. Example: COM5 / COM6) expand the Ports (COM & LPT1) settings to
determine which COM port the USB to Serial Port Adapter is using.

8. When the following screen appears (see Figure 3). Select the following settings (see Figure 4).

From the Hyper Terminal Task bar select: Transfer>Send Text File.
Navigate to the Professional Puncher-C1_v3.01 folder on your desktop.
Select the following file name: PuncherC1_0301_Boot.hex
Note:
To view the contents in the Puncher-C1 folder select All Files (*.*) from the Files of type. You should
then be able to view the following file name: PuncherC1_0301_Boot.hex. “0301” is the firmware version.

13. Once the file name PuncherC1_0301_Boot.hex is selected the Hyper Terminal screen will start to
download the latest firmware version.
