Reinforced Concrete Design Guide

The document outlines the reinforced concrete design for a new education center in Hong Kong, adhering to the 2013 Concrete Standards. It details the design methodology, structural elements, calculations for slabs and beams, and specific design parameters including loads and reinforcement requirements. The design assumptions include ignoring wind load and specific soil bearing capacity, with various structural elements such as slabs, beams, and footings being analyzed and designed accordingly.

INTRODUCTION
The structural design was carried out in Hong Kong Concrete Standards 2013.

Design Methodology

1. Structural analysis using Limit State Design.

2. Elements treated as per Hong Kong Code of Practice for Structural

Use of Concrete (2013).

3. Dead load and live load assumptions per Code.

4. Concrete grade: C35 (unless otherwise specified).

5. Reinforcement grade: Yield strength 500 MPa (Grade 500).

Design Standards

1. Hong Kong Code of Practice for Structural Use of Concrete (2013)

2. Assumed partial safety factors.

Design Assumptions

1. Ignore wind load.

2. Slab assumed to be 1m wide strip.

3. Continuous beam and slab analyzed for longest span.

4. Columns assumed pinned at top and base (unless otherwise detailed).

5. Soil bearing capacity assumed to be 200 kN/m².
