Where you live now (Band 6.

5 – Xuan Hoa Ward, Phu

Tho)
Q1: Which town or city do you live in now?
I live in Xuan Hoa Ward, which is in Phu Tho Province. It’s a small and peaceful area
surrounded by green rice fields and small hills. I’ve been living here since I was born, so I’m
very familiar with the people and the lifestyle. Most of my neighbors have known me since I
was a child, which makes the community feel warm and supportive.

Q2: Are there any things you don’t like about your area? [What are they?]
Yes, there are a few things I’m not very happy about. Sometimes it can be quite noisy during
local festivals or when motorbikes pass by late at night. Also, public transport here is not very
convenient, so it’s hard to travel to other cities without having your own vehicle. In addition,
there are not many entertainment facilities like cinemas or shopping malls, so young people
often have to go to bigger towns to hang out.

Q3: Do you think you will continue to live there for a long time? [Why/Why not?]
I think I will move to another city for university because I want to experience a new
environment and have more opportunities for personal growth. However, I will probably
come back here in the future because my family is here, and life is less stressful than in big
cities. The cost of living is also lower, and the pace of life is slower, which I find quite
comfortable.

Q4: Do you like living in the countryside?

Yes, I do. The countryside has fresh air, friendly people, and beautiful scenery. It’s also safer
and less crowded than urban areas. I really enjoy the peaceful mornings when I can hear birds
singing instead of car horns. Plus, the food here is fresher because it often comes straight
from local farms. Although it may lack some modern facilities, the quality of life is still very
good.

Work or Study

1. Are you working or studying?

I’m currently a Grade 12 student at Xuan Hoa High School, which is not far from my house.
This year is quite busy because I have to prepare for the national high school graduation
exam

2. Why did you choose that school?

I chose Xuan Hoa High School because it’s the nearest to my home. Many of my relatives
and friends also studied here, so I felt comfortable and familiar from the beginning. The
teachers are supportive and the learning environment is quite friendly.

3. What subjects are you studying?

I study a range of subjects, but the main ones are Math, Literature, physics and English
because they are required for the university entrance exam. Besides that, I also learn subjects
like History, Geography, and Physics. English is my favorite because it helps me connect
with people from different cultures.
4. What’s the most difficult subject for you?
For me, Physics is the most difficult subject. It requires a lot of logical thinking and problem-
solving skills, which sometimes make me feel stuck. I have to spend extra time practicing
exercises and asking my teacher for help to improve.

5. What do you plan to do after you finish your studies?

After I graduate, I plan to move to Hanoi or another big city to attend university. I’m
interested in studying English because I think it will open more job opportunities and
facilitate to find a stable job.

1. What are the most popular subjects in VietNam?

I think Maths, English, and IT are the most popular. They are useful for many careers,
and parents often encourage their children to focus on them.
2. What are your favourite classes/ courses/ subjects at school/ university?
I like English classes the most because my teacher uses games and group work, so the
lessons are more fun and I can speak more confidently.
3. Do you think it’s important to choose a subject you like?
Yes, definitely. If you enjoy the subject, you will feel more motivated to learn and
you can study it for a long time without getting bored.
4. What work do you do?
I don’t have a job now because I’m still focusing on school, but sometimes I help my
parents with housework or help my friend sell drinks at the school gate.
5. Why did you choose to do that type of job?
I only do it occasionally because it’s simple and doesn’t take too much time away
from my studies.
6. Do you like your job?
Yes, it’s quite fun because I can talk to different people and it’s not stressful at all.
7. What do you like best about your job?
I like the friendly atmosphere and the chance to meet new people, even though it’s
just a small job.
8. Do you miss being a student?
I’m still a student, so I don’t miss it yet, but I think I will in the future because school
life is fun and I can see my friends every day.
9. Prefer to work in the morning or afternoon
If I had to choose, I would prefer working in the morning because I have more energy
and can finish work early, then have free time in the afternoon.
10. Have you changed your work before?
No, I haven’t had any real jobs before, so I haven’t changed work yet.

House or Apartment

Q1: Do you live in a house or an apartment?

I live in a house. It’s a three floor house that my parents built about ten years ago. We have a
small front yard where my mother grows flowers and some vegetables, the house is not very
big, but it’s cozy.

Q2: What do you like about your home?

What I like the most is the peaceful atmosphere. Since our house is not right on the main
road, it’s much quieter, so I can study or relax without too many distractions. I also love the
front yard because I can sit there in the evening, enjoy the fresh air, and sometimes chat with
my neighbors. Another thing is that my room has a big window, so it gets plenty of sunlight
in the morning, which makes me feel more energetic.

Q3: Which room in your home do you like best? [Why?]

My favorite room is definitely my bedroom. It’s where I can have my own personal space to
study, listen to music, or just relax. I decorated it with some posters and a small bookshelf, so
it feels cozy and reflects my personality. There’s also a study desk by the window, which
gives me a nice view of the garden when I’m doing homework.

Q4: Would you like to live in a different home in the future? [Why/Why not?]
Yes, in the future I would like to live in a bigger house with more modern facilities, maybe in
a city where I study or work. I think it would be exciting to experience a different lifestyle
and have easier access to places like libraries, gyms, and cafes. However, I still want it to
have some green space, like a small garden or balcony, because I enjoy being close to nature.

Q5: What did you like most about the house or apartment where you grew up?
What I liked most was the small front yard and the friendly atmosphere. When I was a child I
often played badminton there with my brother, and in the evenings our family sometimes sat
outside to talk or have tea. Because many of my neighbours are long-time friends, the place
always felt safe and familiar.

Q6: Which is your favourite room in your home? [Why?]

My favourite room is my bedroom. It’s quiet and bright, with a big window that lets in
morning sunlight, so it’s a good place for studying. I also put some books and photos there,
so it feels personal and comfortable when I want to relax after a long day.

Q7: Is there anything which needs to be improved in your apartment/house?

Yes, there are a few things that could be better. The kitchen is quite small and the cabinets are
a bit old, so cooking can be inconvenient sometimes. Also, the bathroom could use some
repairs because it has small leaks during heavy rain. I hope my parents will renovate these
parts when they have time.

Q8: What can you see when you look out the window of your room?
From my window I can see our front yard with a few plants and the street where children
often play. On clear days you can also see rice fields and small green hills in the distance,
which makes the view feel peaceful. Sometimes on weekends there is a small market nearby,
so it can be busy but lively.

Hometown (Nghệ An)

1. Where do you come from?

I come from Nghe An Province, which is in the central part of Vietnam. It’s famous for its
beautiful beaches, mountains, and also for being the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh.
Even though I don’t live there now, it’s still a big part of my identity.
2. What’s the most attractive part of your hometown?
For me, the most attractive part is Cua Lo Beach. The sand is clean, the water is clear, and the
seafood is fresh and delicious. Every summer, tourists from all over Vietnam come to visit.

3. What’s the weather like in your hometown?

The weather in Nghe An can be quite extreme. Summers are very hot, sometimes over 38
degrees Celsius, while winters are cold and windy. But spring and autumn are more pleasant.

4. Do you know much about the history of your hometown?

Yes, a little. Nghe An has a long history and is known for producing many talented and
patriotic people. It played an important role in Vietnam’s struggle for independence.

5. Has your hometown changed much these years?

Yes, it has. There are more modern buildings, industrial zones, and tourist attractions now.
However, many traditional villages still keep their customs and culture.
