INTRODUCTION

The Study of Signaling and Road Safety has been conducted with the purpose of
contribute to the improvement of traffic control and management in the stretch of
road under study, in accordance with the indications in the Device Manual
of Motor Vehicle Traffic Control for Streets and Highways of the MTC in force.

Under this concept and with the aim of providing the road with all the
elements and devices necessary to enable greater security in the
vehicle traffic, it has been deemed appropriate to reconcile real needs
of the Project, the tourist nature of the route and the idiosyncrasy of the users and
inhabitants.

In accordance with the evaluation conducted, it has been deemed appropriate to provide
road section under study with adequate signaling devices and
road safety to provide greater security for vehicle movement on the road
consequently avoid or minimize traffic accidents.

2.00 OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Signaling and Road Safety Study is to provide the road
of all the signaling elements and road safety devices necessary,
in accordance with the requirements of the Traffic Control Devices Manual
Motor vehicle for Streets and Highways of the MTC in force, considering the
real conditions of the road.

3.00 STUDY METHODOLOGY

The methodology used for the preparation of the Study is described below.
of Signaling and Road Safety.

3.1 Field inspection; activity carried out for the purpose of knowing about
more detail on the physical environment where the route is developed and the areas that are without

8.00 MEASURES TO REDUCE AND PREVENT TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

Considering that the present project is scheduled as a

periodic road maintenance of the route, the following can be recommended:

Placement of preventive, regulatory, and informative signs.

Placement of signs that restrict speed at the entrance of
populations and each time the guideline speed changes.
Placement of speed reducers in urban areas, spaced out
in such a way as to guarantee and maintain a reduced speed of
operation. These will replace the existing ones, but with conditions
geometric according to the standards.
Placement of kilometer milestones every 1000m located on the right and
left of the track, alternately.
Placement of delineator posts to highlight the edge of the road and
as a guide in a specific stretch.
Placement of delineator spikes on the road, along the entire
road, in order that they delineate the road during the nights
especially in the high areas of heavy rain and fog.

9.1 Vertical Signs

In general, the vertical signaling of roads includes a

set of elements intended to inform and organize the circulation through the
the same.
The vertical signage of roads aims to achieve three objectives:
Increase circulation safety.
Increase the efficiency of circulation.
Increase the comfort of circulation

The term 'signal' refers to one of these elements, composed of:

Some symbols or legends, dimensions and colors.
The surface on which it is inscribed, generally a plate.

Vertical signs are classified into:

a) Preventive. Related to the geometric characteristics of the road.

They warn the user of the presence of certain conditions of the road that
they pose a real or potential danger that can be prevented by taking
certain precautions, such as landslide areas, curves
U-shaped closures both to the right and to the left, sharp curves
to the right and winding paths to the left, etc.

They will be located and designed according to the alignment of the track, in the

areas that represent a real or potential danger that can be avoided

b) Regulatory.
The inclusion of regulatory signs will generate an order in the
vehicular traffic, besides informing the road user about the
existence of the limitations and prohibitions that regulate its use. In the
this study has considered the use of character signals
regulatory, within the classification of signals related to the right of
steps, prohibitive or restrictive, and direction of circulation.

WORK

In order to avoid and/or minimize the risks of traffic accidents

during the execution of the works in its different phases, has been established
the following rules and safety measures:

. The Contractor is responsible for organizing traffic under conditions of

security.

. All control devices to be used in the work areas,

they must comply with the specifications in the plans or the instructions of
Supervisor, in order to exercise an appropriate organization of circulation of the
vehicles.

. This type of signage is temporary and will remain for a while.

The works will last, they will be moved or eliminated when the stretch or
subsections are in a condition to receive the traffic. The signals to

at all times; in the event that they do not meet the described conditions, they must

to be replaced immediately.

. The signs should be placed in locations that allow for the greatest
effectiveness and clarity of the message to be conveyed.

. The signs will be mounted on mobile supports, in order to allow their

easy transfer or change of position, according to the progress of the work.

. The gates and the posts or supports for the signs must be
properly built; in case of suffering any deterioration, they must be
repaired immediately and conveniently.

. The cylinders to be used in the work areas must be painted in three

horizontal stripes with orange and white paint, in order to allow for
its easy visibility, especially at night. The use of is recommended
retro-reflective tapes that allow visibility of the cylinders under conditions
of low visibility and during nighttime.

. The Contractor must proceed to clean the existing platform, removing

the material coming from slope cuts, so that the route does not remain
interrupted by breaks greater than 60 minutes, except in cases that
find in the predetermined traffic interruption schedules in the
via.

. The use of gates and permanent personnel is essential.
