community as a whole in order to strengthen the capacity of schools to promote
healthy lifestyles.
What are the main components?

To Grow Healthy, the School is one of the fundamental Social Institutions for the
development of personal and community health. It is presented as the natural environment for
the promotion of health, where it is possible to adopt articulation as a strategy
intersectoral to improve the quality of life of the community.

In this regard, it provides for the execution of joint activities with those responsible for the
Areas of Education and Health, in which the Educational Community participates and is integrated into
the following components:

1. EDUCATION AND HEALTH PROMOTION

From this component, intersectoral actions between Health and
Education and as part of this process, the development of the
Curricular Design of Health Education for all Level schools

Educating for health in schools aims for the student to be able to build
knowledge, abilities that allow him to be autonomous, critical, capable of solving
problems and make responsible decisions that transform the conditions in

Decisions regarding autonomy are those the school can and must influence.
The school as a facilitator of learning spaces must become a
health promoter, individual and collective, where children and young people can build
access to health and at the same time become multipliers of that culture of
health. For them, educational objectives must be prioritized, integrating activities
in health in the planning of the educational institution and not addressing these
themes in a casual or sporadic manner.
To make these actions effective in the school, it is necessary to anchor in
a strategy for ongoing training that impacts capacity or the
strengthening of educational institutions, and that this translates into the implementation
in progress of educational improvement projects where the promotion of

2. SERVICES FOR THE HEALTH PROTECTION OF SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN.

The 'Growing Healthy' Program aims to coordinate the work of the C.A.E. and promote a
better utilization of resources, and avoiding the overlap of actions and
empowering interdisciplinary work where it is most needed.

Crecer Sanos considers that another fundamental dimension of promoting the

health in school is the creation of healthy environments.

In this sense, actions are anticipated at the Institutional level aimed at:

Ensure safety and environmental sanitation conditions, conducive to the

construction of the health of the educational community. That is to say, to make the school
a safe, clean, and structurally appropriate physical environment, in order to reduce
health risks derived from environmental and geographical situations.
Promote the construction of "harmonious links, respectful of rights
humans and free from any form of violence"; that is to say, a "psychosocial climate
that favors the development and academic performance of students and the
performance of the teachers.
Contextualize the actions and efforts of health promotion in the school, to
the characteristics of the sociocultural and economic reality, to produce a
real impact on the living conditions of the students and their families.

HOW ARE THE ACTORS OF GROW HEALTHY ORGANIZED?

At the central level, it operates through a Provincial Intersectoral Team, which has
in charge of the implementation of Crecer Sanos.

At the local level, operational teams (for each operational area) are established.
