Pre-Arrival Checklist

Bring essential travel documents (passport, visa, etc.) and methods of payment (cash in
CNY, ATM cards, etc.).

Pack an adequate amount of clothing, toiletries, a towel, and any essential medication.

Bring materials for lectures: laptop, notebooks, charging cables, etc.

Review the Student Code of Conduct (Appendix A) and Statement of Safety Commit-
ment for dorms (Appendix D). We will ask for your signature on these documents on
Arrival Day.

Notes:

1. Important announcements and notifications will be sent via WeChat during the program.

2. Basic toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash), and
bedding items (including sheets, pillows, blankets, etc.) will be provided in the dorm rooms.
Laundry machines will also be available for use in the dorm buildings.

3. Weather during the autumn in Shenzhen is hot and humid, with average temperatures
exceeding 30℃ during the daytime. Please pack accordingly. The program itinerary may
include some outdoor activities. Please pack hats, sunscreen and other items needed for
sun [Link] in Beijing during early autumn is mild, but bring a light jacket for
cold nights.

Arrival Day Information

When you arrive at the East Building Complex, volunteers will greet you and direct you to
check-in at the Campus Services Center (second floor). At check-in, you will be asked to pres-
ent your travel documents (passport, visa) and have your photo taken for dorm access. You
will also be asked to sign the Student Code of Conduct (Appendix A) and Statement of Safety
Commitment for dorms (Appendix E). Please read through these before arrival to speed up
the check-in process.

Check-in hours will be from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM on October 6.

At check-in, you will also receive a ADDP name badge. Please wear it during ADDP activities.

According to PRC law, all foreign nationals must register with the local police within 24 hours
of arrival. This process can be completed electronically. Please scan following QR Code to
start declaring. ADDP volunteers will aid participants through the process.

Accommodation

ADDP participants will stay in Building B of the East Building Complex in the southeast of
the University Town of Shenzhen. Rooms will be single occupancy with an ensuite bathroom
and shower. Laundry machines are available on each floor of the dorms.

During the program, participants are not permitted to leave the dorms after 10 PM.
Check-out time on October 20 is no later than 12PM.

WiFi

WiFi will be available to participants on the SIGS campus (including in the dorms). Follow the
instructions below to access it.

1. Connect to the WIFI network tsinghua.

2. On the authentication screen, enter your username


and password, which will be provided at check-in.

Dining

SIGS has two dining halls where ADDP participants can dine:

East Building Complex where the ADDP dorms are located (ground floor, Building B)
7:00-9:00 (Breakfast), 11:00-13:00 (Lunch), 17:00-19:00 (Dinner).
ADDP participants will have breakfast at this dining hall. Please present your ADDP
name badge to claim breakfast.

Heyuan Canteen 1, which is located in the northwest part of UTSZ across from the
Information Building. See campus map in Appendix C for exact locations.

07:00-09:00 (Breakfast), 10:30-13:30 (Lunch), and 16:00-19:30 (Dinner).

Canteens are priced between CNY 12 and CNY 35. Lunch and dinner will be served here
during the program. Please present coupons issued by ADDP to claim lunch and dinner
at the dining hall.

If you would like to eat at the dining halls outside of meals provided by ADDP, please
use WeChat Pay or Alipay to pay.

If you have special dietary needs whether for medical, religious, or personal preference rea-
sons, please notify the dining hall staff. Halal options are available at Heyuan Canteen 1.

In addition to dining hall options, a café called AGTEA (银茶), which sells Western food
options, coffee, and tea is located on the second floor of the East Building Complex, Building
B. Next to Heyuan Canteen 1 on the northwest side of University Town is a Hong Kong-style
restaurant called Da Tong (嗒糖) and a KFC. On the first floor of the Information Building,
across from Heyuan Canteen 1, is another branch of AGTEA (银茶).

On the first floor of the Peking University HSBC Business School building, you can find a Star-
bucks. The University Town is also home to two McDonald's ‒ one next to HIT Cafeteria 1 and
contains a McCafé, while the other is on the ground floor of Building 11 on the PKU campus.

Convenience Stores

There is one convenience store on campus selling snacks, fruit, and daily necessities:

Happy Family Campus Store is located on the first floor of Heyuan Building 1. The
store offers daily necessities, snacks, and a self-service coffee machine.

Banking

The Ping'an Bank University Town Branch is located on the first floor of the University Town
Library in the Campus Services Center. There is an ATM available at this branch.

Another Ping'an Bank ATM is located at the entrance of Heyuan Building 4.

Health & Wellness

There is a small clinic located next to Heyuan Canteen 1. SUSTech Hospital and Shenzhen
University General Hospital are located near University Town.

The ADDP team will purchase personal accident insurance on your behalf for the program
duration. If you are having any medical issues, please reach out to volunteers or ADDP staff.

Remember to pack any essential medications.

Appendix A: Student Code of Conduct


(For ADDP Participants)

1. ADDP participants are required to comply with national laws and regulations during their
stay in China.

2. Participants should treat all participants, instructors, staff, and visitors with respect and
courtesy at all times.

3. Participants should uphold honorable academic standards. Violations include cheating on


classroom or outside assignments or tests, plagiarism, entrance without proper authority
into any private office or space, unauthorized use of or access to any computer or informa-
tion system, etc.

4. Participants are required to attend all activities, except when granted exemptions. Please
arrive on time and be prepared for activities. Actively engage in all program activities and
discussions. Complete any assigned tasks or projects to the best of your ability.

5. Participants should take care of their own personal health and well-being. Stay hydrated,
rest when needed, and seek help if you feel unwell.

6. Individuals of the opposite sex are not permitted to stay overnight in dormitory rooms.
Unauthorized visitors are not allowed to enter the dorms. During the program, participants
are not permitted to leave the dorms after 10 PM.

7. ADDP participants should uphold social ethics and be civilized and courteous members of
the SIGS community. Violations of social ethics include (not are not limited to): distributing,
the SIGS community. Violations of social ethics include (not are not limited to): distributing,
websites, or other illegal materials; participating in gambling activities or knowingly provid-
ing gambling equipment or venues; illegally possessing, using, injecting, or providing drugs
to others, or inciting, inducing, or deceiving others to use or inject drugs; engaging in prosti-
tution, soliciting prostitution, or facilitating, tolerating, or introducing others to engage in
prostitution; engaging in disorderly conduct such as making disturbances, setting off fire-
crackers, intentionally smashing objects and facilities; taking firearms, ammunition, or dan-
gerous goods such as flammable, explosive, poisonous, radioactive, or corrosive substance-
sout of designated storage places; participating in brawls or fights; insulting, defame, or
slander others, causing adverse effects; intimidating, threatening others, or maliciously
disrupting others' normal lives; invading others' privacy by peeping or secretly filming; sexu-
allyharassing others through language, text, behavior, etc.; infringing upon others' property
through theft, extortion, fraud, or impersonation; etc.

[Link] of telecommunication and online fraud. When receiving unfamiliar calls, messages,
or emails requesting bank card information, asking for verification codes, initiating money
transfers, requesting to add you as a friend, or providing weblinks, QR codes, or share
screens, exercise caution to prevent falling victim to scams. Government departments,
public security, and judicial authorities in China will never request money transfers over the
phone. Be extremely vigilant if you encounter such incidents. Do remember to purchase tick-
ets such as concert tickets and scenic area passes through official channels only. Avoid trust-
ing scalpers to prevent being scammed.

9. Pay attention to fire and theft prevention in dormitories. Avoid using open flames or unau-
thorized electrical appliances. When going out, close the windows, lock the doors, and turn
off the power.

10. Excessive drinking, causing a disturbance after drinking, and drink-driving are strongly
prohibited.

11. Participants who violate the code of conduct will be subject to disciplinary measures that
may lead to expulsion from the program.

Appendix B: Getting to SIGS

The SIGS campus is located in the University Town of Shenzhen (UTSZ) which is nestled along
the Dasha River, between Tanglang Mountain and Xili Lake in Shenzhen's Nanshan District.

Note 2: Some of the bus and metro instructions will take you to the campus in the northwest
part of University Town, which is about a 20-minute walk from the ADDP dorms. You can take
a shuttle to the East Building Complex from the Information Building (see the campus map).

By Metro

The closest metro station to Tsinghua SIGS is Xili Lake (西丽湖) on Line 7. Take Exit D and
follow the road 200m to the campus's side gate, or 500m to reach the north gate, both on the
right. Note: Xili Lake Station is located in northwest part of University Town, which is about a
20+ minute walk from the ADDP dorms. You can take a shuttle to the East Building Com-
plex from the Information Building (see the campus map).

From Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (宝安国际机场) to SIGS:


Follow the signs in the airport to take Line 11's Airport Station (机场) to Qianhaiwan (前海湾)
metro station and switch to Line 5. At Xili (西丽) metro station, transfer to Line 7, with your
end destination being Xili Lake (西丽湖) on Line 7. Take Exit D and follow the road 200m to the
campus’ s side gate, or 500m to reach the north gate, both on the right.

From Shenzhen Railway Station (深圳站) to SIGS:


Take Line 1 to Chegongmiao (车公庙) metro station and switch to Line 7, with your end desti-
nation being Xili Lake (西丽湖) on Line 7. Take Exit D and follow the road 200m to the cam-
pus's side gate, or 500m to reach the north gate, both on the right.

From Shenzhen North Station (High-Speed Railway Station,深圳北站) to SIGS:


Take Line 5 to Xili (西丽) metro station and switch to Line 7, with your end destination being
Xili Lake (西丽湖) on Line 7.

By Bus

The closest bus stop to the ADDP dorms (East Building Complex) is 丽水路南 (Lishui Lu Nan/Li -
shui Lu South) stop. Buses 133, M459 (departs from University Town station on line 5, exit B),
43, 74, and 81 stop there. The east gate of the East Building Complex is a short walk north
from the bus stop.

Bus M176 provides service to the SIGS Campus. Get off at the Tsinghua Campus (清华园区)
stop.

in Tsinghua SIGS Phase I (East Building Complex)
Reception Dormitory

Statement of Safety Commitment in Tsinghua SIGS Phase I Reception Dormitory

In order to ensure the safety of the occupants and build a safe, harmonious and civilized
living condition, all the guests who stay in the Tsinghua SIGS Phase I Reception Dormitory for
a short period of time need to sign the Statement of Safety Commitment. As a specific man-
agement service provider, China Overseas Property Holdings Limited provides services and
conducts safety supervision and management.

1. Occupants should strengthen the concept of the rule of law and safety awareness, be
informed of the related rules and regulations on dormitory safety management, fire control,
and punishment for students who break the discipline, and follow and implement the rules
and regulations, to maintain their own and dormitory security.

Take good care of the fire-fighting facilities and equipment in the dormitory building. It
is forbidden to damage, misappropriate or dismantle them without authorization. It is
forbidden to occupy, block or close fire passage and exits.

In case of fire and other abnormal situations or emergencies, you should first do a good
job of self-help and protection, evacuate the building as soon as possible and immedi-
ately call the dormitory housekeeper at 19842717938.

No publicity materials such as slogans and banners unrelated to school activities may be
posted without reporting.

Take good care of and reasonably use the living service facilities such as public facilities,
equipment and furniture in the dormitory.

2. The following behaviors that affect or may affect public safety is forbidden in the dormito-
ry building:

Smoking, or using naked flames, alcohol stoves, gas stoves and other utensils in the dor-
mitory building or in the room;

Storage or use of hazardous articles, including but not limited to inflammable, explosive,
toxic, radioactive and corrosive materials, bacterial and viral specimens;

Wiring privately and using public power without permission;

Dropping objects from height or climbing the balcony guardrail;

Entering the restricted areas in the dormitory building in non-emergency situations


(including rooftops, public balconies, HV rooms, LV rooms, pipe shafts, elevator rooms,
water tank rooms, air-conditioning rooms among other areas);

Storing or using unauthorized electrical appliances, such as immersion heater, electric


thermos jug, electric cooker, batteries of electric vehicles, and electrical appliances with-
out automatic power-off protection; electrical appliances above 1500W (except air con-
ditioners and other electrical appliances installed with the permission of the school);

Other behaviors that affect or may affect public safety.

3. Occupants should abide by the schedule stipulated by the school, and it is forbidden to
speak loudly and engage in other activities that hinder others’rest during lunch break and at
night. Students are not allowed to stay out late or go out late at night except in special
circumstances. Students who go out late at night must report to the teacher in charge for
written confirmation before leaving.

4. Occupants should improve safety awareness, take good care of your belongings to prevent
them from being lost or stolen. When you leave the dormitory, you should close the doors
and windows, take care of the key card or password, and do not lend the key card to others
or inform others of the password. If you get the room card, you must return it to the campus
service center when you leave school or change the dormitory room, and you are not allowed
to replace the lock without permission.

5. Occupants should be strict self-disciplined. Fighting, theft, gambling, alcoholism, vandal-


ism, window-climbing, door-climbing, door-bashing and other violations of morality, law
and school discipline are strictly prohibited.

6. The dormitory room is equipped with beds, cabinets, desks and chairs for students. Please
check carefully when you check in. If there is any missing or man-made damage, please
report it to the teacher in time. If you don’
t report in time, they will be regarded as intact at
the time of check-in. When you check out, the furniture will be checked according to the asset
receipt, and you will need to compensate for any loss or damage.

7. This statement of safety commitment is made in duplicate, one for the occupant and one
