Project: Topic Suggestions and Guidelines
Choose any ONE of the three suggested topics and write a project of 1500 words
TOPIC 1: Drama – Julius Caesar
1. Draw a comparison between the characters of Brutus and Cassius as depicted in Act I of
the play.
2. Write in modern English, why Cassius hates Julius Caesar. Justify it with the
corresponding quotes from the text.
3. Write in brief, the historical context which leads to the beginning of Act I Scene I of this
play.
TOPIC 2: Treasure Chest: Poems: “A Work of Artifice” – Marge Piercy
1. Write a critical analysis of the poem.
2. Discuss how Marge Piercy uses the Bonsai Tree as a metaphor for women oppression.
TOPIC 3: Treasure Chest: Short Stories: Bonku Babu’s Friend – Satyajit Ray
1. Discuss the theme of friendship as represented in the story.
2. “Choosing ‘oneself’ is not being selfish.” Discuss this idea with reference to the story.
GUIDELINES:
• Use an interleaf scrapbook for English Project.
• Cover the scrap book with orange coloured paper.
• Use the one side of the page to write the assignment. The other side to be used for
illustrations.
• Use blue or black gel pen to write.
• Sketch pens or fancy colour pens can be used to write the headings only (except Red and
• Green).
• Use pictures/drawings/sketches in concern with the topics of the assignment. Do not forget
to use captions for pictures and drawings.
• All the work must be handwritten.
• The cover page should show the School Logo, School’s Name, Student’s Name, Class,
Section and Subject written neatly.
• Each topic should be written on a new page and arranged as Topic 1, 2 and 3.
• Research from libraries/internet/newspaper/supplements.
• Marks will be deducted for spelling and grammatical errors.
• Be neat and methodical in presentation and chronologically correct.
