2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Ethernet Interface has two types of functionalities:
• Cloud client: the data of the Logik series compressors (see REF4) are read
periodically via RS232 and RS485 and sent to the Cloud server via connection
Ethernet
• MODBUS TCP <--> MODBUS RTU bridge.

One feature excludes the other.

Through the USB interface, it is possible to update the firmware of the module (Bootloader) for
configure the module and obtain information from the system.

3 WIRING DIAGRAM

Rev.0 – 24.05.2017 4
Compressors can be connected to the RS485 and RS232 serial ports. Only one compressor can be connected.
through the RS232 port while through the RS485 port it is possible to connect a bus of compressors.
The 2 ports can be used simultaneously, just make sure that all the compressors connected to the interface
they have different addresses.
Power can be supplied by the M3 connector or via the M2 connector (RS232). Be careful not to reverse the
polarity of the power supply.
The Ethernet cable must be connected to the M5 connector, which is the typical female RJ45 connector.
If the internet connection via Ethernet is not available, it is possible to use a GPRS/UMTS/LTE router.

ETHERNET INTERFACE CONNECTION DIAGRAMS - LOGIK FOR CLOUD SUPERVISION

It is possible to connect the Ethernet module with all the latest generation Logik family controllers from the releases
following: Logik9 (rel. 1.12), Logik19 (rel. 1.12), Logik26-S (rel. 1.33), Logik33-S (CPU rel. 1.57), Logik103 (rel. 0.64) and
Logik200 (CPU rel. 1.42) in addition to the Logik25-S model (rel. 1.52)

4 DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION

4.1 DIP
I dip sono riservati per implementazioni future.

4.2 DHCP
When enabled, it allows you to automatically obtain the following:
IP Address
2. netmask
3. default gateway
4. Primary and alternative DNS

4.3 DNS
DNS support allows for the resolution of symbolic names of hosts.

4.4 LED
The meaning of the 4 LEDs is explained in the table below.
LED Meaning
DL1 fixed: no communication on RS232/RS485
flashing: communication OK on RS232/RS485
DL2 • DHCP ACTIVE
ooff: link ethernet off
flashing: DHCP request in progress
oon: link ethernet ok, IP address assigned
• DHCP NOT ACTIVE
ooff: link ethernet off
oon: link ethernet ok
DL3 flashing: waiting for connection to the cloud
fixed: connected to the cloud
DL4 fixed: normal operation
1 flashing: system information file written on the USB
flashing: invalid file configuration or firmware update error from USB

Rev.0 – 24.05.2017 7
4.5 FIRMWARE UPDATE

4.5.1 USB BOOTLOADER

This function allows the user to update the firmware of the interface.
The file format is etlgk_v_x_xx.bin, where x_xx represents the firmware revision.
A USB stick must be connected before powering on the interface. If the firmware is recognized, the LEDs 2
The 3 start flashing to indicate that the update is in progress.
When the LEDs stop flashing, the update is complete. At this point, you can unplug the USB drive and
The interface will automatically restart the system with the new firmware.
Se durante l’aggiornamento qualcosa non va a buon fine il led 4 comincerà a lampeggiare continuamente.

4.5.2 FIRMWARE UPDATE INTERFACE VIA ETHERNET

This function is only available when the interface is in Cloud Application mode.
The interface informs the cloud server about the firmware version from time to time.
If the server has a newer firmware version, it will inform the interface of this new firmware and
The interface will automatically download it and save it to an external flash memory.
Once the download is complete, the interface starts the bootloader.
The bootloader will find the new firmware saved and ready to be loaded onto the program flash memory so that the process
the update can begin. During this phase, the led 1, 2, and led 3 blink.
Once the writing is complete and the firmware has been successfully verified, the saved firmware is marked as written.
So that when the interface is turned on again, if the bootloader is started, the update will be done again.
At this point, the interface will be started with the new firmware version.
Se qualcosa dovesse andare storto durante l’aggiornamento, il led 4 lampeggerà finché l’interfaccia non sarà spenta.
In this case, upon the next boot, the bootloader will find a new valid firmware name and the process of
the update will be retried.

4.6 CONFIGURATION FROM USB

Some parameters can be configured via USB.

• Cloud client mode or Modbus TCP/RTU bridge

• DHCP on or off
• Static IP address
• Subnet mask
• Default gateway
• Primary DNS server
• Alternative DNS server

The configuration file name is [Link] and can be generated by the application at the following link:
[Link]

To update the interface with a new configuration, the file must be uploaded to a USB flash drive and connected.
to the interface.
When a new configuration is successfully loaded, LEDs 2 and 3 start to blink; disconnect the USB drive.
The USB interface will automatically restart with the new configuration.
If the configuration is identical to the one already existing, the interface will ignore it.
If the configuration cannot be read correctly from the USB, LED 4 will blink for a few seconds.

4.7 SYSTEM FILE INFORMATION
When a USB stick is connected to the interface, a file named [Link] is written. The file contains various
information about the state of the system:

• Date and time of the last connection to the cloud

• Cloud mode or Modbus TCP/RTU bridge
• DHCP Status
• IP address
• Subnet mask
• Default gateway
• Primary DNS server
• Alternative DNS server
• MAC Address
• The number of connected modbus and their addresses.

The file is readable with any common text editor, but it can also be imported for viewing at the link
following:[Link]

4.8 CLOUD APPLICATION

In this mode, the interface first explores the RS232/RS485 line looking for connected compressors (the maximum number of
the allowed units are 32).
So it sends to the cloud the information about the compressors found, receiving from the cloud the list of modbus registers to read and
how often these data should be updated.
The application can also send commands to the compressors through the interface.
All data exchanged with the cloud is encrypted using the AES-256 algorithm.

In case of active multiunit, the interface will check the multi-unit synchronization without interfering with other requests.
modbus standard.

For further information on MODBUS RTU and the MODBUS serial line see REF1 and REF2.
For information on the Logik compressor Modbus protocol see REF4.

4.9 MODBUS TCP/RTU BRIDGE

When this mode is activated via the configuration file, a TCP socket is activated on port 502. The number
the maximum number of simultaneous data connections is 4.
The interface can also be used to gather all the desired information from the connected devices on the lines.
RS232/RS485 using the TCP MODBUS protocol.
For example, the user can create their own Management application and collect Modbus data through
the ethernet interface.
In the case of active multiunit, the interface will check multi-unit synchronization without interfering with other requests.
Modbus standard.
Further information on TCP MODBUS is available in REF1 and REF3.
