1. Theme.
Making crafts with Origami
2. Contextualization.
Origami (?) or paper folding is an art that consists of folding.
paper without using scissors or glue to obtain figures of varied shapes,
many of which could be considered as paper sculptures. In a
In a strict sense, Origami is a type of paper folding of Japanese origin that
includes certain restrictions (for example, it does not allow cuts on the paper, and it
it starts from certain bases) with which Origami is paper folding but not all
Paper folding is Origami.
The particularity of this technique is the transformation of paper into shapes of
different sizes starting from an initial square or rectangular base that
they can range from simple models to highly complex folds. In the
Origami models the environment around us in which we live: Fauna and flora
from all the continents, urban life, tools of our everyday life,
mythological animals and a countless number of other figures.
That is why the second-year Accounting students will prepare
crafts based on Origami to achieve an incentive for students,
teachers and parents to playful art and develop their skills
creative.
3. Justification.
In carrying out this project, we encountered an excellent opportunity to
to promote Origami and this is an innovative method in learning of the
young people today. In addition to being a didactic and playful method.
The motivation and interest in Origami figures can influence
mainly to the students of our institution and in their decision to study
Architecture or Graphic Design upon graduation.
Another benefit is for the teachers as they teach their students with Origami.
students to develop manual skill and accuracy in precision of
work.
It also motivates the student to be creative as they can create their own
models and investigate the connection it has with geometry.
That is why this research project is important for us
Educational institution because it aims to find in Origami a tool
didactics that helps students in the morning and evening sections to
understand the basic notions and elements of geometry in a way
creative, simple, and innovative with the goal of developing competencies
mathematics related to spatial thinking and progressing in the
geometric content that they should have already seen for their grade.
4. Objectives.
4.1 Objetivo general.
Create crafts based on Origami to develop in the
students of Demetrio Aguilera Malta school the skill
manual, motor skills, cognitive and ethical skills motivating
his interest in art.
4.2 Specific Objectives.
Encourage creativity in students.
Contribute to the training of students and teachers in Origami
as a teaching and learning tool.
To conduct the sale of the crafts as a guide for the
students.
Propose a different way of teaching to the teachers.
5. Theoretical Framework.
According to Rodríguez Fernández Marianne, psychologist, "Working with Origami
requires memory, imagination, thought, coordination of both hands and
active work of intelligence and attention, which produces progress in the
intellectual and psychomotor development of adolescents, at a stage in which the
the brain is in its period of greatest plasticity. Origami helps
also in psychological problems, since the concentration on a
manual activity, helps with release and stimulates mental processes,
keeping the boy and girl away from obsessions and fears. That is why origami,
as an activity that involves the hands, with its visuo-spatial component,
of memory, imagination, thought, attention and a high emotional load
related to its playful character (which facilitates its application), could be a
good element to stimulate the psychomotor, cognitive, and social development of the
adolescents." It adds: "the practice of Origami increases and develops the
bilateral coordination, oculo-manual coordination, manual dexterity,
increase digital strength, fine pressure, color discrimination,
size and figure-ground, tactile perception, organizational skills, the
multiple processing, sequencing, concentration, creativity,
memory and precision among others.
Basically, we work with adolescents to 'induce their motor skills and
develop their concentration; also, for them to define their lifestyle and that
be more persuasive, that is, they are taught to create paper figures and, to the
time, to cement the role they will play during their existence.
Origami allows children to manipulate paper, feel
sensitivity and manage to create their works, the attention they give to these
Activities are great as they feel the excitement and curiosity of creation
what they will achieve through paper, 'the practice of this from an early
age stimulates the development of their artistic and intellectual skills.
Students will be able to use the art of Origami as a craft technique.
of free time and to focus the scattered attention of students.
6. Historical backgrounds.
The art of paper folding originated in China around the 1st or 2nd century AD,
it arrived in Japan in the 6th century and was integrated into Japanese tradition.
Heian period, from 794 to 1185, origami played an important part
in the ceremonies of the nobility, for folding paper was a luxury that only
there could be people of comfortable economic position. Between 1338 and
In 1573, during the Muromachi period, paper became cheap enough.
for everyone, and the Origami style served to distinguish a social class
from another, for example, between an aristocratic samurai and a peasant. The
total democratization of art only occurs between 1603 and 1867, period

when they were transporting the Chinese prisoners to Samarkand in the year 751.
From the prisoners they learned to make and fold paper, initially

animals in art, due to the belief in idolatry of images, then
his research in origami was directed towards the study of forms
geometric and the mathematical study of linear patterns that
they remain when folding the paper. As the highest expression of this activity
they were buildings of Moorish architecture, in which they used those
same patterns for their design.
There are currently countless theorems and principles related
with paper folding, many of which have developed new
concepts of applied mathematics, such as, for example, in topography.
Después de que los árabes fueran expulsados de España durante la
Reconquista, the Spanish kept the designs and developments,
incorporating shapes that represented nature.
7. Process to be developed
In the development of this project we will carry out different types of
crafts with Origami. Below is an example:
Origami Pig
1. Start with a square piece of paper.
Fold the top and bottom parts towards the center.
3. Fold the four corners to the center line.
4. Fold to the opposite side to clearly mark the double, and then fold it.
again in its original form.
5. Fold the two triangular tips towards the center (you will end up with a
rectangle), and then unfold them.
Round the corners of the triangles.
7. Repeat it with the other three corners.
8. Fold the model in half vertically with the triangles facing outward.
9. Fold the inside part of the triangle in half so that it points towards
down to make the feet.
10. Repeat with the four triangles, forward and backward.
11. Fold the triangular side inward (toward the edge of the foot) and
unfold it.
12. Then open it and turn your last doubles inside out.
13. Take the inner tip of these doubles and fold it outwards again.
time.
14. Fold the tip on the other side, not towards the edge, but slightly up.
of him.
15. Unfold it, open it, and reverse the doubles.
Stop it and finish the pig.
8. Costs

1 scissors $0.40
1 silicone $0.75
Cardboard $0.50
Little crazy-eyed box $0.35
1 rapidograph $0.80
