MORALS
• Morals/ morality is concerned with the principles of
right and wrong in human behavior, mostly based on
one’s conscience.
• A thought, word or action is considered to be morally
good if it agrees with the general perception of what is
right and what is wrong.
• However, morals always stand for goodness and it
promotes acceptable behavior of individuals
MORALS
WHAT ARE VALUES ???
• Values
– Personal beliefs about truth and worth of
behaviors, thought, objects
• Beliefs
– Interpretations or conclusion that one accepts as
true
VALUES
Values are the criteria for
determining good and bad,
fair and unfair.
• Ethics
– System of moral principles governing behaviors
and relationships
– Standards of right and wrong
• Morality
– Private, personal standards of right and wrong
• Laws reflect moral values of society
• Nurses have ethical responsibility to be client
advocates
Often morals and values contribute
to ethics. Therefore we can
state that morals + values = ethics.
INTEGRITY
Integrity is the practice of being honest and showing
a consistent and uncompromising adherence to
strong moral and ethical principles and values.
In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and
truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions.
CIVIC
VIRTUE
Civic comes from the Latin
word
“civitas”
which means
“civilized” or livingin
a city.
Virtue comes from the Latin
word
“virtus”
which means being
“moral” or “good”.
SO. . .
“CIVIC VIRTUE” IS
Civic virtue is the harvesting of habits important
for the success of the community.
Civic virtue is often conceived as the dedication
of citizens to the common welfare of their
community even at the cost of their individual
interests.

RESPECT DEFINITION:
Showing high regard for self,
others, and property.
Respect “The Golden Rule”
Treating
others the way you
would want to be treated.
TO PRACTICE RESPECT
Treat others like you want to be treated
Accept differences
Be fair
Be polite with others

LIVING PEACEFULLY
Purpose of living is to be peaceful and happy
Pease of mind or happiness of mind is where
there is no violence
