MOTIVATION OF RESEARCH
05/23/21 Dr. Raksha Singh
Definition
Sakaran (2000) defined research as a process for finding a solution to a
problem after making a deep analysis and conducting studies of relevant
factors.
Research is a method, designed to ensure that the
information obtained is reasonable and supported by the quantitative and
qualitative data
It involves a systematic process.
It includes the process of designing research methods, collecting and describing data and
reporting information.
Thus, research could find answers that resolve the uncertainties of a problem.
Research and publication have now become major tasks for academics in
addition to teaching. These three roles are mutually related to each

ExampleTeaching Technique
Teacher working in a school. In day-to-day teaching you are likely to
encounter many complex questions and issues, the answers to which
could directly or indirectly improve your effectiveness as a teacher.
Some of these questions could be:
What do I need to do to become a better teacher?
What do students think about my teaching?
Why are some students good at their studies while others are not?
What affect does the home environment have on the academic achievement of a
child?
What, in students' opinion, are the attributes of a good teacher?
Do I have the attributes that make a good teacher?
What is the attitude of students towards homework?
What determines students' motivation in their studies?
Is there a relationship between academic achievement and occupational
aspirations?

Characteristics of
Motivation Research
Motivation research is an interdisciplinary science.
Psychologists, sociologists, and anthropologist have
made valuable contributions to the understanding of
why people act as they do in the Marketplace.
Example:
Buying habits of Consumers
Motivation research attempts to discover, underlying
feelings, attitudes, and emotions concerning product,
service, or brand use.

Characteristics of
Motivation Research…..
Motivation research is concerned with human motives.
Marketing research is focused on what consumers do, but
the focus of motivation research is on why they do it.
It is qualitative research, so it is very difficult to generalize
the findings.
It operates on the premise that consumers are not always
aware of the reasons for their actions.
It is designed to uncover consumers of the subconscious
or hidden motivation.
