Michelle had been a student union welfare officer on a year’s sabbatical from
her undergraduate accounting and financial management degree. She had to
conduct a final year research project so she select to explore whether students
who had experienced financial hardship. She wants to highlight the weakness
of funding regime that charged students tuition fee and provide loan of limited
value. She intended to use focus group interview.
[Link] advice would you give Michelle about the ethical
issues involved in her project ?
I would give following advices to Michelle about the ethical issues involved in her
project :

a. Involve student union to contact individual to ask anybody might be interesting in


participating focus group.
b. Michelle could have advertised to student (focus group interview with debt problem)
c. Research on human subject so first is to obtain consent guidelines (collecting primary
data)
2. What advice would you give to Michelle about her
selection of participants for her focus groups?
The advices I would give to Michelle about the selection of participants for her focus
groups are listed down below :

a. Select the student randomly from each other class (economic group)
b. Select those student who can provide relevant information.
c. Participate should be ; similar characteristics so that they can interact openly.
d. Should be practice sessions among participant and choose who do well in practice
sessions.
3. What advice would you give to Michelle about whether she should
attempt to organise another focus of students who were in the final
year of their studies last year to make her research more
representative?
The advices I would give to Michelle about whether she should attempt to organize another focus of
students who were in the final year of their study last year to make her research more representative are
pointed down below :
a. In my opinions, should attempt to organize another focus group of students who were in final year of
their studies last year to make her research more representative.
b. Final year students have more experience and know all the relevant stuff information.
c. Experience with debt problems and social account ; provide more information.
d. It makes comfortable zones to every participants.
CONCLUSION

Michelle research involves human subject . He has selected the focus group
interview to collect the data so the steps should flow properly and select of the
all the class group people . There must be involvement of the all year student
so that the research get the accurate and good represent . Evaluating the case
we also found the careless of the selection of the participant, she should have
contact to student union and request all the student on her behalf to participate
on focus group.
