Writing task

Chaperon
Rouge

The problem
Sentence 1: Begin
with a subordinate
clause.
A subordinate clause is a part of a sentence that adds extra
information and doesn’t make sense on its own.

Example: Although she had been warned to stay on the

path, Chaperon Rouge wandered deep into the forest.
In this sentence, use
a double ‘ly’ ending.
Use two adverbs (words ending in ‘ly’) to describe actions or
feelings.

Example: Chaperon Rouge nervously and cautiously walked

through the dark woods.
You must use a
conditional sentence.
A conditional sentence is a sentence that describes a possible
situation and its result (using if).

Example: If she had listened to her mother, Chaperon Rouge

wouldn’t have felt so lost.
You need to include
speech.
Add a sentence where a character is talking. Use quotation marks.

Example: "Who’s there?" she whispered, hearing a rustle behind

her.
Use a passive
sentence.
In a passive sentence, the action is more important than who
is doing it.

Example: The basket of food was dropped by Chaperon Rouge as

she ran.
Use a ‘3 ed’ sentence.
A ‘3 ed’ sentence is one that starts with three adjectives ending in ‘ed’.

Example: Frightened, exhausted, and confused, Chaperon Rouge kept looking over her shoulder.
You need to include
speech.
Once again, add a sentence where a character is talking.

Example: "I should have listened to my mother," she muttered under

her breath.
Include a phrase from
a real text.
Use a line or phrase from a famous story, poem, or another piece
of writing.

Example: She recalled the warning from her mother, "Beware the
wolf, for he is not what he seems."
Use an ‘emotion word and
comma’ sentence.
Start the sentence with an emotion, then a comma, then describe what’s happening.

Example: Terrified, Chaperon Rouge bolted towards the nearest tree, hoping to find shelter.
You need to use an
example of figurative
language.
Use a metaphor, simile, or personification to describe something.

Example: The trees loomed over her like silent guardians, their
shadows stretching across the path like claws.
Include a De
sentence.
A De sentence is made of two parts: a description, then a detail (hence the
colon).

Example: She was sure of one thing : the forest had become far too quiet.
Example :
Although she had been warned to stay on the path, Chaperon Rouge wandered deep into the

forest, her heart pounding. She nervously and cautiously tiptoed, her eyes darting around, trying

to make sense of the shadows closing in. If she had stayed on the familiar trail, she wouldn’t be

feeling so scared right now. "Who's out there?" she called, her voice trembling as the trees seemed

to close in tighter. The basket of food was knocked out of her hands as a sharp gust of wind howled

through the branches. Frightened, exhausted, and confused, Chaperon Rouge began to pick up the

pace, hearing strange noises around her. "I wish I had stayed at home," she whispered to herself,

her breath catching in her throat. Her mother’s words echoed in her mind, "Never trust a stranger,

for they wear many disguises." Terrified, she bolted toward a cluster of trees, desperately seeking

cover. The darkness surrounded her like a suffocating blanket, the trees standing tall like menacing

giants. She was sure of one thing: the danger was much closer than she had thought.
