• Know the differences between hardware and software, and compare the
different roles that they perform in computer systems.
• Know that different types of file can be stored on a computer's hard drive,
including text, audio, image, video and games.

Input Devices of Computer
Input devices allow information to be put into the computer.
Some input devices allow you to input text; some
allow you to input images or sound.
Can you think of any input devices?
Keyboard
A computer keyboard is an input device. It allows you to input text.
What computer programs do you use where you
need to type text into the computer?
Joystick/Controller
A controller is an input device. It allows you to select the information you want to
add to the computer. Controllers can be used for many things around your home.
What devices do you use a controller for at home?
Mouse
• It is use for clicking/selecting documents and application in your
computer. It is use to give instructions to your computer to
perform tasks.
Have you seen/used a wireless mouse?
Web Camera
• It is used for video conferencing, live streaming, online
meetings, and recording videos. Webcams are typically
connected to computers or laptops
Output devices of the computer
Output devices allow information to be sent out of the computer.
Output devices might produce text, images or sounds. Some new
output devices can even produce objects!

Speaker
A speaker is an output device. It produces sound.
What devices in your home or school make use of
speakers?
Printer
A printer is an output device. It can produce text and images. You might
have used a printer to print a photograph, a story or a poem.
Investigate a printer to see how it works.
Headphone & Headset
Headphones are designed to listen sound or music and are placed close to user's ears.
Headset always has a microphone that are attached to it, which allows user to speak and as
well listen to sound/music at the same time.
