what is it?
CATS
The Cross-Application Timesheet is a
cross-application tool used to record
working times and
other data in a central worksheet.
You can use data entry profiles to format
the layout of the Timesheet to suit your
needs.
Working times may be relevant to more
than one target component
simultaneously. Reports

CATS Data Entry Profiles
To be able to enter time data in the Cross-
Application Timesheet, you must have a
data entry profile. You can define different
data entry profiles according to your
Fields Entry requirements in Customizing for Cross-
Application Components.
Profiles
The purpose of the data entry profile is as
follows:

It determines the data entry process for
the time data that is entered using the

Choose fields
You can use field selection to control which fields are displayed and their attributes in the Data
Entry section, Worklist, and Settings. It also defines where timesheet data is transferred.
Customize data entry profile
Choose fields
Data entry section Worklist Settings
Field selection has two levels:
Modifiable Influencing
General field settings for all data entry profiles, Defines fields specific to a particular data entry
with priority over Influencing profile.
Both levels apply to settings, worklist, and data entry sections.
Field Selection
After maintaining the data entry
profile, you select fields to
appear using these options:
Choose Settings, Worklist, or
Data Entry section, and then
select Modifiable (for all profiles)
or Influencing (for specific
profiles).
Customer-defined fields can be
added to the timesheet (up to
10) for reporting but not data
transfer.
Set fields as input-ready,
display-only, or hidden, and
highlight content if needed.
Avoid using Required Entry due
to the CATS tabular format.
Use task type, component, and
level fields to define task
valuation elements.

here’s a structured
approach:
4. Follow-Up
A. Understand CATS Functionality
• Purpose: CATS is used in SAP environments to capture
and process working time and attendance data.
• Key Features:
• Time recording for various activities (projects, internal
tasks).
• Integration with HR and project management modules.
1. Research Phase B. Benefits
• Reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Streamlines time tracking.
• Improves accuracy of time data.
• Enhances project costing and resource management.
C. Technical Requirements
• SAP version compatibility.
• Required authorizations and roles.
• Dependencies on other SAP modules (like HR).
A. Outline
• Introduction to CATS
• Key Features and Benefits
• Technical Requirements
• Installation Process Overview
2. Presentation Preparation
• Use Cases and Best Practices
• Q&A Session
B. Visual Aids
• Create slides using PowerPoint or Google
Slides.
• Include diagrams showing CATS integration
within the SAP landscape.
• Use charts for data showcasing efficiency
A. Pre-Installation Checklist
• Confirm system requirements and compatibility.
• Backup existing data.
• Ensure test server environment is prepared.
B. Installation Steps
• Access SAP GUI: Log into the SAP system with appropriate credentials.
• Use the CATS Transaction Code: Typically, it's CAT2 for time entry.
• Configuration:
• Set up time types, absence types, and attendance types.
3. Installation on Test Server
• Configure relevant tables and parameters in SPRO (SAP Customizing
Implementation Guide).
• Testing: Perform a test run to ensure data entry works smoothly.
• User Training: Provide necessary training for end-users.
C. Post-Installation
• Monitor system performance.
• Gather feedback from users.
• Document any issues for future resolution.
Schedule a follow-up meeting to
discuss user experiences and any
challenges faced.
