With 15 million youth entering the workforce every year, more than 75 percent are not work
prepared. This has made the companies to adapt technology aided and technology driven
training modules to save training cost. On-demand video, online virtual lab programs, Web-
based training and virtual classrooms have been included based on individual, group and
business needs.
To tackle this problem organizations are also exploring the path of experiential learning that
challenges people beyond their comfort limits. As McKinsey’s research states “Experiential
learning is an approach for building the skills of adults who are accustomed to learn through
action and experience.”
These days corporates are choosing blended learning models through integration of
Technology and VR. This model is now being adopted over traditional learning methods.
This method helps in fulfilling the primary need of training as it improves the job
performance of the employees. Many companies are using this useful tool which includes
perfect blend of online and on the job learning experience. It is also considered one of the
best tools because it includes absorbing and engaging activities, which make learning
environment effective. It also keeps attrition rate in check as feedback from trainers.
Many companies prefer their staff to learn on-site rather than attend an off-site training
programmes- especially in case of oil and gas industries where it is often impractical to attend
off-site training.
The on-site learning programmes like blended approach is more cost effective and allows
greater process consistency.
The training market is not only limited to blended learning models. Companies are also using
AI, Virtual Reality (VR) and even mobile apps for imparting training. The growing
technological interdependence and digital penetration are the promising future of training
using augmented reality and artificial learning. These high-tech advancements are giving
different options of creating different levels of employee involvement and engagement at
their own pace and leisure.
It will not be completely wrong to say that AI is eating jobs but at the same time, it is creating
a lot more where a lot of specialized skills are required to address the current industry
requirements. This is the reason why corporate training is the only road left for employee
retention.
