Each side of a regular hexagon is 12 cm long. Find the perimeter of the hexagon.
a. 72 cm
b. 82 cm
c. 32 cm
d. 222 cm
e. 112 cm
Solution:
As what you learned from the previous topic, names of shapes, the prefix hexa- and root word -gon is
referring to a six-sided polygon. So, the question is looking for the perimeter of a regular six-sided
polygon. The formula for the perimeter of all regular polygons is side length multiplied to the number of
sides of the polygon.
In this case, the answer is: 12 ×6=72 cm,
A. 72 cm

Find the circumference of circle with diameter 28 m, in centimetres. ( 22 / 7 )
1. 88
2. 8800
3. 880
4. 88000
5. None of the above
Solution
In order to find the circumference of the circle, the formula P=π × D must be used.
Therefore,
22
A=28 × = 88 m
7
To convert 88 m to cm, 88 m must be multiplied to 100.
Therefore,
A=88 ×100=8800 cm
B. 8800 cm

The diameter of wheel is 70cm. How many revolutions does it make if it travels a distance of 88m? (
22 / 7 )
A. 10
B. 20
C. 30
D. 40
E. 50
Solution:
First, it is needed to know the distance covered in a single complete revolution. One hint is that
revolution is talking about “around” of the wheel. So, in order to find the distance from one revolution,
we will use the formula for the circumference of the circle or the perimeter of the circle using the
formula P=πD
Therefore,
22
P=70 π= × 70=220 cm
7
So, in order to find the number of revolutions needed we need to divide 88 m to 220 cm but take note
that they are not in the same unit. We know that 1 m = 100 cm, therefore, 88 m = 88 ×100=8800 cm.
Therefore, the number of revolutions made is:
8800 ÷ 220=40 revolutions
