General
Note:
• The safety gear of the car, counterweight or balancing weight shall each
be tripped by its own overspeed governor.
• The tensile force in the overspeed governor rope generated by the governor
when tripped shall be at least the greater of the following two values:
a) twice that force necessary to engage the safety gear,
b) at least 300 N
• The overspeed governor shall only be operated if a rope breaking switch
has been provided which disconnects the drive in the case of inadequate
rope tension or rope breaking.
Standard version
- Drive groove ∅ 300 mm
- 40 ° undercut V-groove (case hardened groove flanks)
- Rope diameter 6 - 8 mm
- With safety contact mounting (IP65), which simultaneously activates an
electrical pre-switch-off at vN > 1.0 m/s according to EN81-98
- A weight-loaded rocker up to vN = 0.5 m/s is used
- Above this value a spring-loaded rocker up to vN > 2.5 m/s is used
- With rope guard (only for traction sheave groove ∅ 300 mm, wrap of 180 ° and
vertical rope departure)
-
Tripping :
The roller fastened on the rocker is moved towards the cam curve by a
spring.
As soon as a given speed is reached (tripping speed) the roller fastened on
the rocker can no longer move along the cam curve and is moved outward
due to the centrifugal force.
The following process is started :
• The bolt (pos.7) is moved outwards and the contact tappet on the safety
contact (pos.9) is activated.
• The pawl on the opposite end of the rocket (pos. 16) engages in a cam
cast on the governor pulley and stops the revolving pulley. The safety gear
rope which runs in the governor pulley groove is stopped and, thus,
operates the levers of the progressive safety gear or braking device.
• The lever (pos.14) on the overspeed governor moves in direction of
rotation until it stops on the support. The movement of the lever causes
the leaf spring (pos. 12) centered in the locking plate to disengage. The
bolt on the rocket is also pushed aside and retained in this position by the
hat-type spring (pos. 8).
Attention ! The lift shall only be restored to service after eliminating the
cause of failure and inspection of the lift by trained personnel.
Reset :
• Unhook pawl hook (pos.16) by moving the governor pulley.
• Lift leaf spring (pos.12) and reset to centre of locking plate (pos.11).
The pulley (pos.6) on the rocker which is moved by the spring rests on the
cam curve (pos.2).
• Withdraw the contact tappet (pos.9) and reset the safety contact to
operating state.

Table 1 speeds
Based on the data specified on the name plate the rated speed can be
determined from the tripping speed stated in the table.
The electrical pre-switch off shall in all cases trigger ahead of the tripping
speed.

Unpacking
• Dispose packing equipment in accordance with the environmental
regulations or make it available for further use.
• Special transportation aids and transportations contrivances shall not
be send back to THYSSENKRUPP AUFZUGSWERKE but remain at
the customer.
Intermediate storage
• If the overspeed governor is not mounted immediately after delivery
carefully store it at a sheltered place and see to it that it is provided with a
humidity-proof covering.
Environmental conditions
NOR For additional information about mounting the special version final limit
switch-off see chapter 8.2,
Note: when the governor is mounted in the well and fastened with the aid of
an angle bracket fixed on the rail by means of clamping plates see to it that
the angle bracket is also screwed to the rail.
For mounting position and aligning above instructions apply.
Prior to putting the lift into service check overspeed governor for correct
functioning.
Should special versions be mounted also check them for correct functioning
and operation. Observe the instructions and information for special versions
in chapter 8.
Note: do not oil or grease the bearings of the governor rope of the rocket as
well as the pulley and the cam curve
7. Maintenance
SA 3 Additional base plate for mounting the overspeed governor on the machine
room floor.
SA 7.2 Remote tripping like SA 7.1 with additional remote reset of electrical pre-
switch off (24V).
SA 7.4 Remote tripping (12V) via magnet and remote reset of electrical pre-switch
off via magnet (24V).
SA10.1 With mounted initiator for monitoring speed and run time.

longer move in this direction. If the car creeps downwards the blocked safety
gear rope draws the grip wedge into the jaw by means of the safety gear rods
and stops the jaw.
The pawl is engaged if the actuating magnet is de-energized.
SA10.1 With mounted initiator unit for speed and run time monitoring.
Initiator is driven by means of friction-wheel which runs on the governor
pulley.

Note: the blocking device can be used as additional safety device when
travelling in inspection mode or as remote tripping for vN ≤ 1 m.
The blocking device is engaged when the magnet (24 V) is actuated.
If the car moves against the inspection limit switch when travelling in
inspection mode, the drive will be disconnected by the inspection switch and
the pawl will engage on the overspeed governor at the same time.
A sensor monitoring the pawl prevents that the drive is connected
unintentionally when the pawl is engaged.

The blocking device can also be used as additional safety device when the
car travels in inspection mode. The brake blocks the governor pulley as
soon as you switch over to inspection mode. On activating the inspection
switch (up / down) the brake will be de-energized and the wheel will no
longer be blocked.
If the car moves against the inspection limit switch when travelling in
inspection mode, the drive is disconnected and the magnetic brake is
activated at the same time.
Note: the clearance between the armature base plate on the wheel and the
electromagnet which ensures correct functioning if the magnet is de-
energized is adjusted and sealed at the factory.
Do not change this adjustment.
Description:
The final limit switch-off (NOR) is designed as an emergency supply
limit switch for speeds up to vN max 1,6 m/s.
Two selector forks and a control cam are fastened on a shaft located on
the support of the THYSSENKRUPP governor.
After passing the terminal landing a selector fork is operated by
switching springs fastened on the governor rope by means of rope
grips. The selector fork de-energizes the final limit switch via the control
cam on the shaft.
Manually reset the control shaft after you moved the car to normal zone
of movement in electric recall mode by turning the selector forks
downwards.
The NOR is fastened together with the governor on a base plate on the
machine room floor by means of dowels.
Connection of the final limit switch to the terminal box is already pre-
installed on the base plate. Protection class IP54 for standard version of
terminal box and explosion-protected design (Ex) e G5 for EX version.

Note:
Before the governor rope is fastened
on the rope engagement of the safety
gears push the switching springs
together with the delivered mounting
➁ parts onto the governor rope in the
sequence illustrated in fig. 10.
See to it that you mount the final limit
switch-off in the correct direction. The
➂

tapered end of the switching spring
shall be in upward direction, and the
➂ end of the PG bolted connection and
the rope grip shall be in downward
direction.
➄ Adjust the springs in such a way that
➀ the spring end activates the selector
fork on the final limit switch-off when
passing a terminal landing.
