ABSTRACT E-District Project is the prime Mission Mode Project (MMP) of Govt. of India by Ministry of Comm. & IT under NEGP (National E Governance Programme) initiated by Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India. It proposes to adopt an integrated approach for delivery of citizen services by district administration through automation of backend, workflow based on process redesign and data digitization across participating departments. District Administration in the context of e-District refers to the administrative set-up led or coordinated by the District Collector / Magistrate including Subdivision / Tehsil / Block / Village level units responsible for service delivery.
The initial phase of the project would involve establishment of a pilot for an effective model for delivery of citizen services for the district administration. In the long run, the services are expected to be delivered via the proposed Common Services Centres (CSCs) scheme under the National e-governance Plan (NeGP) of the Government of India.
