5. Is the room well-lit and well-ventilated?
1. Just like other classrooms from this institution, the classroom had less
designs and visual materials posted on the walls compared to public schools
where every corner of the classroom is filled with visual materials like heroes,
the president, and bulletin boards. Despite that, the classroom was clean,
there were some materials posted on the upper front of the classroom like the
school’s vision, mission, and core values and on the right corner posted
about health and safety protocol about COVID-19.
2. The furniture that was available were the teacher’s table and chair at the
center, a cabinet on the left corner, and broom box on the back of the
classroom. The students’ chairs were arranged into 7 lines and 7 rows that
had a distance of half a meter from each other.
3. The classroom had a television and 2 chalkboards.

◼ ANALYZE
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning
of the students going to school? What are the conclusions?
The school campus and the classroom have a huge impact towards the students
with regard to their motivation to go to school, because if the students feel the
belongingness and comfortability in their environment this would increase the ability
of the students to absorb, learn, and grow.
How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/
How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
The environment of the learners has a significant contribution to the development of
the cognitive aspect, personality, and values of the learners which are anchored to
the sociocultural theory. Thus, it’s important to ensure that learners have a
conducive environment where learning and growth could foster.
◼ REFLECT
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why?
Why not ?
In my opinion, teaching a school you just observed would be improper since it’s
necessary to observe the students, the environment, and teachers. By doing that,
you can observe and analyze the learning styles of the students, the strategies
and classroom management styles employed by the other teachers in order for
you to accommodate the needs, interests, and what teaching strategies would
suit and be effective to the students.
2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?
A conducive place to learning has constant practices, and rules and regulations
that would ensure the safety, cleanliness, and welfare of the students. Also,
students can access facilities, services, and equipment and most importantly the
physical, mental, social, and emotional needs of the students are addressed and
prioritized.
3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?
A classroom that is conducive learning when there’s an active and healthy
relationship between the students and teacher. It’s environment friendly,
employs differentiated instruction, the activities are not threatening, learners
mistakes are properly corrected, feed backing is practiced, and the success of
students is celebrated.
4. In the future how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?
The most important aspect is the mutual trust between students and the teacher.
Building trust is essential in classroom management because once the students
have trust in you they would feel comfortable and respect you as their teacher.
Then, it’s like a domino effect where everything will be in the right place, so a
harmonious and conducive learning environment is attained.
5. Write your additional learning and insights here.
The classroom management is one of the difficult tasks of a teacher. Another
year means another batch of diverse students, so as a teacher you have to go
back again, restart observing, evaluating, and conceptualizing what strategies
would be suitable and aligned to the learning styles of the students. Thus, a
teacher must always be flexible and adaptable to these changes.
Observation REPORT
As I explored and examined the school campus, I found 5 board displays,
usually placed on areas that students always passed by or gathered like in hallways
or at the entrance of the building. The content of the board displays were the faces
of the newly elected officers of every department and school clubs. Some posted
important announcements and other special events and occasions. The border
designs were attractive, creative, and unique. I can say that the people who
designed it really put an effort, it effectively attracts the attention of the students. I
noticed that some would stop and check what’s written on it. However there were
some board displays that were too plain and dull and did not have content at all.
Lastly, the message and information were concise yet effective. The only problem
was there were some texts that were unreadable from a distance since the font size
was too small.

◼ ANALYZE
What do you think is the purpose of the board display?
The purpose of board display is to add beauty to the school environment and
it’s a powerful tool in communicating and connecting with students. Aside from
that, it offers visual stimulation and appeal, it encourages and motivates
students to be involved and engaged in the school’s activity and event. Also,
through board display, urgent and special announcements and information
can be easily disseminated.
Did the board display design reflect the likes/interest of its target audience?
Why ? Why not?
There are several board displays that reflect the likes/interests of the students
since the designs are appealing and unique which really attracts the interests
of the students. Moreover, the content and information focuses on the likes
and interests of the students.
Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand?
Why? Why not?
The language is effectively and appropriately used, it’s very easy to
understand since the information is brief yet concise and comprehensive. The
words used are clear and simple which accommodates different students from
any level.
Was the board display effective? Why ? Why not?
The board display is effective and impactful since the location can be easily
seen by the students. The content is informative and the designs are creative
and unique. However, the only flaw is the texts are unreadable from a
distance because of the small font size.
What suggestions can you make?
It would be better if in the board display the achievements of the students are
also posted. Like the names of the top students, names of the students who
won an award, students who participated in a school contest, and more. By
doing so, this will boost the confidence of the students and motivate other
students as well.
Based on your suggestions, propose an enhanced version of the display
board.

◼ REFLECT
1. Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up
with effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
The teacher should have the following skills to be able to come up with
effective board displays:
Creativity – must always think outside the box to come up with unique ideas.
Resourceful- must be able to maximize and utilize the available resources
creatively.
Innovative – designs and concepts must exceed what is common.
Organization skill- elements and content should be organized and unified.
Effective communicator- the information must be well conveyed, it’s
informative, motivational, and meaningful.
2. Which of the skills you named in # 1 do you already have? Recall your past
experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?
Among the mentioned skills, the skill that I’m confident of is being resourceful.
I’ve experience creating visual materials before for projects and I could say
that I’m a very resourceful person because I always make sure to find ways
on how I will maximize the materials and resources available.
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take
on how you can improve on or acquire these skills.
I think the skills that I need to develop are creativity and being innovative
because I can’t come up with a concept or idea without looking for a reference
or a template online. So, I always challenge myself to think creatively at all
times and avoid being dependent on searching online about ideas and
concepts. What I always did, is to give myself time to think and let my
imagination run free to come up with a unique concept.
