PRAYER FOR TEACHERS

God of love, Almighty Jesus, I open my door to you,

Help and support us to our special calling ahead.

Lighten our way to see this word less voices world,

Give us the courage and compassion to seek silent cries of the students
because of their struggles and shyness when no one can hear them.

Strengthen our motivation to keep learning and give learning to students,

Bless us to accomplish all the obligations you will instruct.

Guide us teachers, who assume to blame for so many problems beyond their
control,
Be a lean to all teachers who are exhausted and make them rest.

God of merciful and justice, sustain teachers who give everything they have
and the best they can do.
Let the two of us yearn the hearts to not stay with the lost and be part of us to
consume the neglected one.

Control the unwanted character within us and be our world of our optimistic
side, Lord.
Let, the two of us feel you’re big-time blessing to enjoy the learning of teaching
and the teaching for learning.

All this we pray, our greatest teacher of all. Our almighty Heaven, Earth and
God. Amen

INTRODUCTION

“Teaching is a noble profession. Teachers are selfless, always ready to go to

any extent to help their students. It gives great feeling of self-satisfaction to a

teacher when they see their students achieve in life. But in today’s world, the word

“noble” is misused. From a time when teachers used to stretch themselves to help

12
their students without any expectation, now teachers are demanded to do it with no

extra benefits because “they are doing noble profession”. There is big difference

between doing something voluntarily and being forced to.” (Shiny Dhanush 2019,

Educator)

“Great power comes with great responsibility” (Spiderman) Being a teacher

carries big responsibility to the economy and society and that is “TEACHING”.

Teaching takes courage and passion to do it, you are not only importing your

knowledge and wisdom to your students but you have to take a heartful of patience

and understanding. Teacher is a calling for those who have passion for teaching. Are

you teaching because you want to help student grow and make their dreams

possible or are you teaching because your family are teachers? But if you are willing

to carry the power of being an educator, then your responsibility will not be at

stake. Teaching is not only to show you have knowledge but is to inspire and

motivate students and make the part of every step they take through watching their

achievements in life come through.

Teachers are the second parent of the students. They dedicated their life just

to ensure that the students will improve from a little child to a grown up one.

Teaching implies dedication and motivation, which teachers implies as an

inspiration to every learner. I must say that teaching is one of the most important

job around the world, why do you say so? Because teachers give the student

potential transformation and make them believe that they can be a professional one

someday.

13
As a future educator, there is indicated tasks to do different trainings and

seminars to help the student teacher improve their skills to face the real world after

graduation. One task that the student teacher must undergo is to take and

experience practice teaching. In this training, you will gain more knowledge on how

to handle a classroom in different areas and how to teach professionally to them.

After that, student teacher will undergo to the commonly conducted setting that

makes us experience and challenge us during the first and second semester of the

last pace of our school journey which is graduating. Practice teaching is the

preparation for student teachers for teaching by practice training. “It is the practical

use of teaching techniques and practical training and practice/exercise of different

activities of daily school life.” (Gibson 2008)

It is an opportunity for the future educator to apply what they have learnt

from the very start of their education theoretically into practice. Practice teaching

acquiring traits of a teacher. Practice teaching gain benefit from the critic teacher to

improve their skills and duty completely. Also, in practice teaching, they can

discover their strength and weaknesses and make them as their inspiration and

motivation to improve so that in the future, they will be ready to face the big

responsibility of a real professional teacher because in this career path, they will be

experiencing different learning experiences and different situations like diversity of

the learners and their characters. Practice teaching helps to gain confidence an

strengthen self-esteem of every student teacher so that, they are ready for the

inherited duty and responsibility coming next for them.

14
“The student teacher is a representative of the school/university, the student

teacher entering a professional situation, is expected to display a professional

manner and is responsible for developing a positive working relationship within the

assigned school” (“Role of the student teacher”, Student Teaching Handbook- The

University of SCRANTON JESUIT UNIVERSITY) one of the duty and responsibility of

a student teacher is to apply his/her full time faculty because student teacher is a

full semester clinical experience assigned in the school which they should learn

rules and requirements and guidance and question to cooperating teachers.

Second duty and responsibility of a student teacher is making paper works

that includes lesson planning, checking activities of the students and even recording

scores of the students. In this stage, you will experience tiredness, unmotivated

because of this duty that can create sleepless nights, thingking and making those

paper works. But there is on your side, the eagerness that you need to finish it

because you are on a one step ahead before ending your journey of being an

education student, “ngayon ka pa susuko, patapos kana” line that I always hear from

my loved ones and friends. It is true right? Why are you giving up nowhere in the

first place, it is your decision and your dream is to become a teacher and teach

student to grow. Another duty of a student teacher is to be a positive role model to

their students, exhibit good manners, behavior, language and learn as much as you

can to your students by observing through knowing the strength and weaknesses

that can give a good strategy on what activities could be the students capable of. In

this kind of situation right now, online classes as a medium of instruction, make the

15
students feel that they can be part of your life as a teacher so that the students can

gain interest from the student teacher too, in order to make a manageable,

productive and learning friendly classroom and environment based.

“Creating a student teaching portfolio is an evidence to the teacher abilities,

documents the kind of teacher you are and the types of lessons and activities you

plan” (Jamie Godwin, January 18, 20198, 9:23 am). A portfolio is being used as a

guide on what student teacher learned through personal experience and

professional development activities and show efforts. It is a subjective form tool

which the purpose is the improvement of student teacher and collect important

student learnings over time. It can be used as an outline of a student-teacher

accomplishments set of trainings and seminars attended. One of the most important

components of their material is the personal statement of the student teacher along

their practice teaching career through In and Out Campus. Another is the goal of the

professional career development plan that they can use when they want to apply job

someday. A teaching portfolio is a step towards a more open, professional view of

teaching and reflects the practice as an academic activity (etools 4Education P.O Box

1138, 2021, Nancy and Bob Brackett- Program Directors). Wherein the portfolio of

the student-teacher includes documents teachers practice across a wide spectrum of

educational settings that they can equate and institutionalize their experiences,

observations, characters and values especially their educational philosophy, it is a

big task in becoming a professional teacher but I know that in the end, it is really

worth it

DMMMSU HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The DON MARIANO MARCOS MEMORIAL STATE UNIVERSITY (DMMMSU)

as the La Union Agricultural School (LUAS) by virtue of area RA of 2696 on June 08,

1960 under the supervision of the former La Union School of Arts and Trades

(LUSAT). Eight years later, it was converted to an agricultural college named the

DON MARIANO MARCOS MEMORIAL COLLEGE of AGRICULTURE (DMMMCA) by

virtue of RA No. 5310, in memory of Don Mariano Marcos who met his ultimately

death within the vicinity of the main Campus of the university. On December 10,

1974 the former President, Ferdinand E. Marcos signed P.D. No. 615 converting

College of Agriculture into a State College. On April 12, 1979 through the P.D. No.

1617, the Balaoan School of Fisheries in Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union was integrated

to DON MARIANO MARCOS MEMORIAL STATE COLLEGE (DMMMSC).

On January 15, 1981, through P.D. 1778, the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial

State University (DMMMSU) was created to cater to the aspirations of the people.

The University has three (3) major campuses located in different towns of the

The University has 78 academic programs broken down into seven (7) Post

Graduate courses in Philosophy and Doctor of Education; 24 Graduate Courses in

Masters Degrees; 36 Undergraduate Courses, nine (9) post-secondary non-degree

programs, two (2) laboratory programs and the Open University System offers two

(2) Masters degrees and four (4) Certificate courses.

Don Mariano Mariano Marcos Memorial State University has three academic

programs that have been re-accredited to Level III status by the Accrediting Agency

of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines. These are Graduate

College, Teacher Education, and Agriculture. For the past several years, DMMMSU

had produced topnotches in national board examinations in the fields of Mechanical

Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering,

Veterinary Medicine, Forestry, Midwifery, Master Electrician and Education.

The University was ranked among the top ten higher education institutions

in the Philippines, as surveyed by the Commission on Higher Education in 2001. It

was ranked number seven among the more than a thousand private and public

colleges and universities. Areas evaluated were faculty, student admission, library

and research.

20
The College of Education was awarded Center of Excellence since 2010 while

the College of Information Technology was re-accredited by the Commission on

Higher Education as Center of Development.

The research program of the University is one of the biggest programs in

Northern Luzon in terms of the number of ongoing researches undertaken and

budget location. Its research commodities include fiber crops, fruit crops, beef and

chevron, pork, orchids, bamboo, agroforestry, poultry, agricultural engineering,

farming system, applied rural sociology, macroeconomics, ube, bananas, sericulture,

and apiculture.

Extension programs of the University are anchored on commodity-based

services that create an impact on the life of the clientele in terms of productivity and

profitability and services for the enhancement of local governments and

nongovernment organizations. The DMMMSU Techno Pinoy, also known as Farmer’s

Information and Technology Services, had been evaluated by the Philippine

Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development

to be one of the country’s more active and functional centers.

Acknowledged for its distinct competence, expertise and resources,

DMMMSU is home to a number of special projects. These include the Sericulture

Research and Development Institute (SRDI), National Apiculture Research, Training

and Development Institute (NARTDI), DMMMSU Pig Extension and Research Farm,

Philippine Carabao Center, and Affiliated Non-Conventional Energy Center.

21
The DON MARIANO MARCOS MEMORIAL STATE UNIVERSITY (DMMMSU)

South La Union Campus located at Brgy. Consolacion, Agoo, La Union has been and

will be one of the breeding grounds for future leaders. DMMMSU SLUC also has its

Laboratory High School that gives chance to students to experience how professors

and instructors of DMMMSU teach. LHS is just 800 meters along the highway, it has

easy access to business district because it is near to places which helps students on

buying and accessing what they need.

Laboratory High School has a total of 8 instructional rooms, 5 of this are for

homeroom class, there’s also room for Livelihood Education and P. E. room located

at MSC (Marcos Sports Center). It has a standard size and looking for a prescribed

DepEd classroom. Two doors each for the homeroom. LHS has a total of 8 sections: 2

sections for Grade 7, 8 and 9 then one section for Grades 10 and 11. LHS is also

partnering with the College of Education in improving the quality of education.

There are enough facilities in LHS, such as for instructional materials like

LCD projectors, flat screen TV, speakers and microphones and even Livelihood

Laboratory. It has also its shed which serves as review hall for students and even

used for practices and conferences.

LHS has high caliber of instructors who are also teaching at the college level.

Students have high chance of learning a lot of things because of this broad and

intelligent variety of teachers that caters different skills to teach the students.

22
The current chairperson and is also one of the professors of College of

Education- BSE department – DR. RYAN L. CERVEZA, LHSD also helps the students

and the teachers and also makes LHS be on its right track. Also, with the help of the

Dean of the College of Education and the Chairman of BSE Department, the

partnership is indeed great and successful.

DMMMSU LHS is indeed can be said to be one of the best schools who trains

students to be successful with their records on many achievers and alumni who are

now successful in life and are now making their way into great world.

A school is not complete without a student. But a school will be useless when

there are no teachers available and ready to teach young minds in order to build

their own journey to success and for their track on being globally competitive

students.

STATEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

“TEACHING IS A LIFELONG PROFESSION AND EVERY CLASSSROOM HAS

DIFFERENT GOALS, NOURISH THAT BY TEACHINGH THEM WELL”

A simple quotation with a deep meaning, teaching is a lifelong process that a

teacher must take every single day in their classroom which inside this place has

different dreams that needed to be conquer so as a future teacher I will nourish

those dreams to come true by teaching them well, learning and creating strategies

23
that can improve their skills and knowledge beyond achieving their goals is a big

responsibility for the teachers. How can I assure that they can learn knowledge from

me? Then, my goal is to guide and provide them the best that I can toa achieve a

healthy living classroom management wherein students will be safe, can be

supported, freely invites ask questions and share ideas to the classroom that can

establish a trust worthy environment. That way, they can be more active in setting

rules of learning then, it is easy for the teacher and learner achieve their same goals,

the teacher furnishes learning to learners and the learners absorbing the learnings

that the teachers providing and implying.

Teaching the learners is not only imparting what I know but also trying to

touch their lives and inspire them. In that case, teacher can surely understand and

can make strategies that can help achieve students dreams and goals. It is like a

“win-win” situation. I must say that Education is important than anything because

education gives the children opportunity to carry of their dreams and goals either

for themselves, family and friends. It is also important to us future teachers to be

familiar with all the student greatest vision wherein, teacher is a gateway and a

bridge to most of the successor that seen and can be seen in the near future.

As a future educator, I want and have to give my greatest performance to my

future students. I will offer and allow them access the knowledge that I learnt from

my personal experiences and professional accomplishments. I will assist and

ascertain to them that education is not a burden to every child out there who’s most

especially students who have financial and family problem matters. Often, there are

24
people who is successful without education but I do believe that the most powerful

weapon to become successful is through education and I will make sure that I will

intake that in their minds.

Education is the only way on inspiring and leading gun to have their goals

and dreams in life be attained and teachers which is the goal is importing

knowledge to learners, nothing can equal, please and replace how happy and

satisfied when you see your learners reach their goals in life by bringing them a

good quality education through you and being a part of it.

NARRATIVE REPORT FOR IN-CAMPUS

Practice teaching is a gateway before ending a student educator journey, a

four-year course journey. Educators must experience a very challenging and fun full

of excitement and joy. It is a challenge and experience that make a student-teacher

very nervous and a little bit of excitement and pressure. It makes us feel nervous

25
because from myself, it is the first time that I would be teaching in real, not like in

my childhood days, we played “teacher-teacheran” with my cousins. Although, I am

playing as their teacher but the learners that I teach to them is not that appropriate

for us.

I remember in my childhood days, when people and my aunties ask me what

my dream is to be? What I want to be when I grow up? Then, I always answered “I

want to be a teacher someday”. Then they asked me why? Honestly, I really don’t

know, I used to play “turu-turuan” when I was a child but I don’t even know why I

like it so much and want to be in that profession in the future because no teacher is

in my family that I can adopt. I guessed, I have the will and the eagerness to teach

knowledge and wisdom for the students and to the other people because teacher is

not only just a teacher, teacher is an educator to other people too. A question

popped out in my mind? How can I become a teacher? What are the challenges and

requirements to become a teacher someday?

I can say that the most challenging part of becoming a teacher is not

financially stable. Not financially stable is one because simply, our family is not that

fortunate enough to send me my from a formal education. But there is a blessing

that came from the government and that is free tuition program for college students

in public and semi-public schools. Luckily, DMMMSU-SLUC in Agoo, La Union picked

for the program. So, I am very thankful that I will spend my teaching education

journey in DMMMSU-SLUC which I really love because it is the school were most of

the respectable and professionally skilled teachers made from. I was then lucky that

26
I got free higher tuition in my chosen filed. But the journey in entering my education

field is not easy because before entering college, students have to take exam and

should have passed the passing score which is 25, sadly, I did not pass the exam

because I got only 23. I feel devastated and hopeless because there are other courses

that they want me to take as my second option but I decided to declined. Then after

a day, we consulted the CE Dean to give and take us into another chance for those

students who did not meet the passing score like me. Then he gave us another

chance to us, again, luckily, I passed.

As soon as I entered in my second-year college, I decided to take English as

my major, probably, I take TLE as my major because of some difficulties from my

past picked major. In the first place, I don’t want to take TLE as my major because I

don’t have the experience TLE activities in my senior-high cause I take STEM. But

then, as time goes by, I learn to loved TLE as my major course. Then, the time has

come, the last pace in my education journey. Practice teaching, a very eventful

experience and challenge to all educators. Suddenly, 2020 was the year who made

us feel devastated, stressed and saddened because of the pandemic. Especially, it has

impact in terms of education which result it to closed schools and universities and

colleges. The questions that popped to my mind, how can I teach? Why is it

happened now, now that we are on the last pace which is entering and experiencing

practice teaching. But our school recommend to take a step and entails a blended

learning. Luckily, we have technology which it has a big impact and help for us

teachers and students in generating blended learning which a choice to the students

27
who are willingly to learn and explore through virtual classes. Before instructors

send us to our respective classes and the deployment, instructors held a webinar

called TEACHING INTERNSHIP ORIENTATION AND WEBINAR SERIES EDUC 116

(TEACHING INTERNSHIP 1: IN-CAMPUS) held from September 6-17, 2021 which

instructors are from inside and outside DMMMSU they tackle about different

strategies/methods on how to handle and manage students to their virtual classes.

All of my learnings from day 1 until the last day indicated here:

DAY 1 (SEPTEMBER 6, 2021 – MONDAY) This day, we are invited to attend

the Teaching Internship Orientation and Webinar Series for EDUC 116 which is

Teaching Internship 1: In-Campus. In the morning session, before Prof. Zita

Ballesteros, our speaker, teach about the difference of Teaching Internship 1 and

Teaching Internship 11 in the afternoon session. But, before we proceed to the

discussion, we 4th years (practice teachers) have to assigned into different breakout

rooms which is into our different courses together with our supervising teachers. In

the breakout room, we are assigned to elect our officers from President to PIO. After

assigning the officers for each course we go back to the main session. In the main

session, Prof. Mary Bassa asked our supervising teachers in every course to

introduce the selected officers. After introducing the selected officers, Ma’am Mary

Bassa ended the morning session and the selected officers stay at the main session

for selecting our main officers from the different selected officers for each course.

In the afternoon session Ma’am Mary Basa introduce the final selected officers for

the Practice Teachers then, Ma’am Mary Basa introduce our guest speaker which

28
Prof. Zita Ballesteros. I learned about Teaching Internship 1 and Teaching

Internship 11. I learned that Teaching Internship 1 is In-campus and Teaching

Internship 11 is in Out-campus wherein we Practice Teachers will be deploy in the

Laboratory High School in the campus. Teaching Internship 1 is a half semester full

time practice teaching internship which requires teaching portfolio with the

completion of the Field Study 2 and uses clinical approach while Teaching

Internship 11 is a whole one semester full time teaching internship wherein we

Practice Teachers will be deploy outside the campus in the DepEd partner schools of

DMMMSU-SLUC which Practice Teacher can be or will be experiencing lots of

different types students and teachers. After teaching the difference between

Teaching Internship 1 and Teaching Internship 11. Prof. Zita Ballesteros mention

about the Specific Duties and Responsibilities of Practice Teachers, Guidelines,

Responsibilities of Cooperating Teachers and the Criteria for Evaluation for us

Practice Teachers. The whole day of this webinar has a lot of learning which I can

apply through my Teaching Internship life, I have to say that I will encourage myself

to strive and process the knowledge that I gain from this webinar to my teaching

career.

DAY 2 (SEPTEMBER 7, 2021 – TUESDAY) This is our Day 2 of our webinar in

Teaching Internship Orientation and Webinar Series for EDUC 116 which is

Teaching Internship 1: In-Campus. I have learned a lot in our last webinar so for this

day, I hope I can learn something about the Personality Development of a Teacher

which is lectured by Prof. Vladmir Carisao. He started the lecture by questioning

29
how well do you know yourselves. Some students answer the question by rating

themselves into 60 to 90 percent. Prof. Cariaso question again the students why it is

only 60 or 90 percent knowing yourselves, the students answer Prof. Cariaso that

the remaining percent are the experiences and observations we are experiencing

every day. Prof. Cariaso mention also the development in ourselves which the

growth, our progress and to our positive changes which these developments can be

seen through our personal and to us as a professional. Prof. Cariaso mention about

the components of attitude and the Johari’s window of getting to know “The Self” by:

Joseph Luft & Harrington Ingham and the different aspects of personal and to be

professional which is the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. I learned

about the topic that we practice teachers is a role model to our teachers and to our

co-practice teachers and it’s start within ourselves. Being physically, mentally,

emotionally, socially spiritually stable is a good combination of being a professional

and personally fit because we teachers must imply those insights through our

experiences in teaching internship so that our students will follow us to become a

good person and professional too someday and to maintain and balance our

emotional feelings. These insights that I have learned from this morning session will

be a very helpful knowledge on becoming a good teacher someday and I will hope

that I can process it in my teaching internship career.

On the other hand, for the afternoon session. Prof. Nestor F. Ulpindo lectured

about the Code of Ethics of Professional Teachers (Resolution No. 435, 1977) which

is Pursuant to Paragraph (e), Article 11, of R.A No.7836 (Phil. Teachers

30
Professionalization Act of 1994). He mentions the Preamble of Professional

Teachers which is “Teachers are duly licensed professionals who possess dignity

and reputation with high moral values as well as technical and professional

competence in the practice of their noble profession, and they strictly adhere to

observe, and practice this set of ethical and moral principles, standards, and values”.

Over all he also mentions about the X11 Code of Ethics of Professional Teachers

which is very helpful and very knowledgeable to us Practice Teachers to sustain

these Code of Ethics to become professionally teachers and to duly comply to our

duty as teachers and apply while we are practice teachers because someday, if we

practice teachers learned from this session, we have to conclude it to our teaching

career. I have learned that every teacher should know the Professional Teachers

Code of Ethics for the sustainability of us being teachers. I also learned that those

code of ethics is like a guidelines and rules for us future teachers on what are the

extent of our professionalism and where would we belong. I have to say that I

learned something from this session and I am ready to apply what I have learned

from this webinar.

DAY 3 (SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 – THURSDAY) Our guest speaker for today’s

session is Prof. Jan Kenneth Laguardia. He discussed to us about the Philippine

Professional Standards for Teachers. He mentioned that PPST are the set out clear

expectations of teachers along well-defined career stages of professional

development from beginning to distinguished practice. Another, he mentioned that

PPST is to engaged engage teachers actively embrace a continuing effort in attaining

31
proficiency and apply a uniform measure to assess teacher performance, identify

needs and provide support for professional development. PPST is a basis for all

learning and development programs, Selection & promotion and performance

appraisals. As I listened, there four career stages to PPST. The first one is for the

beginning, beginning stage is for the teachers demonstrate their knowledge and

understand about teaching principles and strategies. The second stage is for the

proficient teachers, proficient teachers is for teachers to independently apply all the

teaching principles and strategies. The third stage is for the highly proficient

teachers and for the last stage is for the distinguished teachers. This stages, are the

standards for the PPST ton who they become their aligned teachers for teaching

students or students. I learned also the different qualities of a teachers for the PPST

and these are teacher should know what to teach and how to teach it, maintain a

learning focused environment, engage in professional reflection and assume

responsibility for personal professional learning, respond to learner diversity, plan

& design effective instruction, use variety of assessment tools to inform and enhance

the teaching and learning process and establish community relationships and

uphold professional ethics. He also mentioned the different domains for PPST. In

this session, I learned so many professional knowledge about the standards of PPST

for us teachers, as I listened to this session, I conclude that being a teacher is not

easy, we need to undergo different learnings to become very efficient professional

teacher someday but, with the help of our speaker I am sure that we practice

32
teacher and soon to be will be very thankful for the learning and knowledge Prof.

Laguardia given and thought to us.

On the other hand, for the afternoon session. We learned about the 21st

Century Teaching and Differentiated Instruction by the help of our guest speaker

our DMMMSU-SLUC ELS Principal Prof. Myrna O. Acas. First, she mentioned and

discusses the 21st century skills which are the information media & technology

skills, learning & innovation skills, communication skills and life & career skills.

Under the information media & technology skills are the visual and information

literacies, media literacy, basics, scientific, economic and technological literacies and

multicultural literacy also, it should have global awareness. Under the learning and

innovation skills we have here the creativity & curiosity, critical thing king problem

solving skills and risk taking, on the other, communication skills have the

collaboration and interpersonal skills while for the last skill which is the life &

career skills, its contents are flexibility and adaptability, initiative & self-direction,

social & cross-cultural skills, productivity & accountability and leadership &

responsibility and lastly ethical, moral and spiritual values. I learned that 21 st

century must teach to encourage teachers to participate to this new phenomenon

which is the leading 21st century learning modality all over the world. It is the

process of continuing teaching with the help of different structures of instruction in

21st century teaching. As I listened, I remember what Prof. Ucas discussed on the

four stages of group facilitation these are engaging group members in active

learning, informing the group with relevant knowledge, involving the group in

33
interactive participation and lastly, planning for future application. She also

mentions the facilitators attribute should be. She also mentions what is

differentiated instruction and from what I heard I learned that differentiated

instruction must have individualism, stand and deliver, covering the content of the

lesson and related to the competencies. For her last discussion, she gave us an

assignment which you have to pick what you want to create, if it is a poem, a prayer

and etc. then submitted it in the google classroom. Over all what I learned today is as

we, are living today’s modern century we teachers should know how to handle or

balance different strategies and techniques in teaching our students and we should

know what instruction should we used. I am blessed to say that we have this kind of

webinar in order to us practice teacher know how to make our classroom

environment ready for this modern century of teaching.

DAY 4 (SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 – FRIDAY) For this morning session, our guest

speaker for The Basics of Module Writing is Dr. Melda M. Uychoco. She started the

lecture by discussing the session goal which is to learn how to write modules and

our session objectives which is to formulate behavioral objectives that are aligned

with a goal, identify the essential parts of a module and specify enabling activities.

She also mentions the topics that will cover her presentation which is the Part 1

writing goals and objectives and for the Part 11 is the Module-Making. I have

learned that objectives and goals have differentiation. I have learned that objectives

are intended results, acceptable, specific, observable and measurable while goals are

very general, broad, long-range and difficult to measure. I also learned that goals

34
and objectives provide the most systematic way possible to measure success of a

learner or a student. Dr. Uychoco mention to the session that goals and objectives

help teachers to identify course content, select activities and expectations also the

structure of the lessons they may provide. Dr. Uychoco mention also what is a

module and how to write and create it and its characteristic. I have learned that

writing module is not easy because we must think the possibilities and outcomes of

what we have written and making to our module, one thing that I have learned on

module writing is on how we develop module which have different parts which is

the introduction, specific objectives, unit pre-assessment, activities and unit post-

assessment. I hope that I will gain to this session because I know that someday when

I will become a professional teacher, I will use these strategies on creating module

for my learners.

In the afternoon session, we are assigned to different breakout rooms. We

are assigned to make module by group. But then our supervising teacher pick only 1

module for us to do because we have no time to left before the calling session in the

main room. So, we decided to make only 1 module. After making module we go back

to the main session. Then Ma’am Mary Basa mention that every course should

present what they do (module) to the session. I learned to this session that making

module is not easy as that. You need to think and base the goals and objectives on

the lesson and topic of the module as well as making the pre and post assessment.

Making activities too is not easy because you have to balance the content for the

35
learner’s sake. I hope this session will make a good module writer for my students

someday.

DAY 5 (SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 – MONDAY) Our guest speaker for today’s

session is Prof. Rodelio V. Indong. He will tackle about what is classroom

management all about. He started the lesson by presenting the aspects of classroom

management which I learned the control of physical conditions in the classroom as

well as the materials of instruction, the care of routine and how to handle discipline.

He also mentions the importance of great classroom by increasing positive student

behavior, preparing students to thrive in society. I learned to this session what is the

main purpose of classroom management which I will be applying soon when I will

become a professional teacher someday because classroom management is how we

teachers influence our student behavior to create an environment that is conductive

to learning, to maximize appropriate conduct and minimize student misbehavior. In

attaining that, we teachers should set rules, boundaries and expectations, take

different approaches and involve students or learner parents and guardians.

Classroom management is the strategy we practice teacher should consider when

we deploy in our classroom or in our classroom management. Prof. Indong also

mention the disadvantages and advantages of virtual teaching and a virtual

classroom and I have learned that virtual classroom is fun to because of the use of

different approach of technology when teaching like making visual aids wherein you

can get it from the internet. I also learned how to handle classroom in a virtual class

wherein you should know the behavior of your student, control first the emotion

36
until you notice and remember all the names of your students also, when a student

raising their hand we teachers must approach or call the students by their name so

that you will attach to them easily. I hope I can apply it to my teaching internship in

in-campus and for out-campus. I will always remember the knowledge that the

speaker told us so that our teaching internship journey will become light and

successful.

In the afternoon session, our guest speaker is Prof. John Mark Lachica. He

discussed about what is a E-portfolio, on why we have to create a portfolio and what

are the contents of a portfolio. First, he mentioned that portfolio is a creation of a

professional teaching portfolio is considered as major requirement for us pre-

service teachers during our field-based semester. In creating portfolio, I learned that

portfolio is to reflect teacher on their teaching and refine their methods which they

may use in their actual teaching in the future. Portfolio is to create a public

representation of teachers experiences as a teacher which they can share with

students, colleagues and employers and to track teacher developments as teaching

professionals over time. I learned that we must clean and arrange our portfolio into

manners because the portfolio will become our guide and advantage when we

practice teachers apply for a school teacher someday. He also mentioned the part of

the portfolio we must create. For me as a future teacher I must create my portfolio

with heart to become professional in the eyes of others. I must consider creativity

and strategy on how I will improve my portfolio for better proficiency. I must strive

37
harder in order to become a professional teacher by making portfolio which I can

reflect with my experiences in my teaching internship times.

DAY 6 (SEPTEMBER 14, 2021 – TUESDAY) For today’s morning session, our

guest speaker is Prof. Gerald Adelina G. Domingo. She discussed to us about Lesson

Planning. Lesson plan is a guide to carry out the objectives that teachers create from

the module and it is also organized. The purpose of Lesson planning is to

comprehend the main objectives and work the basis for the specific aims. She also

mentions the importance of lesson planning and from what I have heard from her I

learned that lesson planning is important because it has goals and objectives, it has

selection of subject matter and procedures, planning and preparation of different

tests. I also that the objectives and goals must be relevant to the module and lessons

so that you will easily attain all the objectives needed in the lesson. Also, I learned

that if we practice teacher did not attain the objectives and goals of the lesson then

the purpose of the lesson plan will disseminate. She also mentions the prerequisites

of lesson planning which it contains the knowledge of subject matter, children and

methods and the understanding of the aims and purposes of education. I also

learned the different behavioral terms used in formulating objectives which is the

cognitive domain that contains the knowledge, recognizing skill of a student and etc,

another domain is affective domain which contains the appreciation, performance

and etc. of the students while the last domain is the psychomotor domain which

contains their creations, demonstrations and their portrayals. She also suggested

step in making lesson plans which I will surely use when I have to create lesson plan

38
in my teaching internship journey. She also gives example on how lesson plan

create. For me, making objectives for a lesson is much simpler than thing king and

creating motivation because you don’t know if the student will understand and like

it and if the student get what will show to them and what could the lesson be. But,

from what Prof. Domingo discussed I think it will be a big help for us practice

teaching to develop good lesson plan when we are task to do so.

On the other part of the session. We are assigned to get into our different

breakout rooms in order for us to watch on how to teach virtually our demo

teaching. For our demo teacher for today’s session, she is a licensed teacher who

teach us last school year, she is Teacher Elena Cayabyab and she discussed to us

about Appetizer, the Nutritional Value of an appetizer and the different classification

of appetizer. After demonstrating her discussion to us, our supervising teacher tell

us on what she observed. As I observed from her demo teaching we noticed that her

presentation is very clean and sufficient. She used good motivation to get our

attentions and she delivered the lesson perfectly. Her power point presentation is

very clean and good ambiance. Her objectives are very specific and measurable.

What I learned for today’s session is you have to become professional while

teaching your students because that is what most teachers do in their respective

classes. I am hoping that I will process all the knowledge that I learned and observed

from this webinar and make it come true through my experiences in my teaching

internship time.

39
DAY 7 (SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 – THURSDAY) It is our 2 nd to the last day of our

webinar and our guest speaker for today is Prof. Jefferson D. Isidro. He teaches us

about the Flexible Learning. Flexible learning has different classification, there are

mobile learning, blended learning, distance learning, e-learning and online learning.

He also mentions the different eight dimensions of flexibility. In Flexible learning

teachers should have roles and responsibilities in techniques in teaching, the first

one is designing the assessment to allow for flexibility in multiple modalities, second

is communicating to learners and parents/guardians the design and standards for

grading the assessment, setting up mechanisms to monitor and record progress

remotely, giving timely, constructive and relative feedback and facilitating

remediation for learners who need further guidance. He also discussed to us the

principles of flexible learning. Principle 1 is for clarity of learning targets and

appropriateness of assessment methods, principle 2 is it should be natural,

interpersonal, mathematical-logical, existential, intra-personal, bodily-kinesthetic

and spatial. Principle 3 is valid and reliable assessment, principle 4 is fair

assessment, principle 5 is manageable assessment, principle 6 is transparent

assessment, principle 7 is continuous assessment, principle 8 is authentic

assessment, principle 9 is positive assessment and for the last assessment is ethical

assessment. Over all what I learned for this morning session is that we should know

what are the principles of assessment in order to us to know what could be the best

assessment should we have to teach our students or learners. As a practice teacher,

40
is should know what is flexible learning and the principles in able to become a

flexible teacher too to my future students.

For our afternoon session, our guest speaker for today is Prof. Ernesto

Flores. He discusses to us about the EdTech or what we called the Educational

Technology. He first mention what is Educational Technology, he defined it by

stating that it us the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving

performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes

and resources, meaning this is a study of how can we use and improve our

educational technology in our teaching career. He also presented to us the different

learning theories which is the behaviorism, cognitivism and the constructivism.

After presenting the learning theories he then introduced to us the different or the

common ed-tech tools that is present today. First, we have the mentimeter,

peardeck, flipgrid, nearpod, padlet, wordwall, canva, kahoot and the google apps. I

learned to this session that we teachers can use this common edtech tools in

teaching but then we should know if the student can access those tools while we are

teaching bcauise some of the students can’t use those tools because of different

problems like gadgets ad internet connection. also, we should relate using those

tolls to the learning theories mention earlier for our student. Over all, I gained

knowledge from this session and as a practice teacher I try to use these tools in my

classroom with the participation of students.

DAY 8 (SEPTEMBER 17, 2021 – FRIDAY) This is our last day for our webinar,

we are assigned to connect into our different breakout rooms with supervising

41
teachers. In the breakout room, Prof. Cariaso, one of our cooperating teachers

discussed to us the different types and the art of questioning. He defined the

question as an any sentence which has an interrogative form of function. He also

determined what is a good questioning is. For the continuation of his discussion, he

mentioned to us about the principles of questioning, the first one is distribute

questions so that all including non-volunteers, are involved, asked both simple and

challenging question, encourage lengthy responses and sustained answers,

stimulate critical thing king by avoiding different kinds of questions like “does

anyone know” and “who can tell us”, allow time for thought and wait until 5 to 6

students want to speak, be a model of exact phrasing and coherent thing king,

encourage students to comment on the answers of classmates and never interrupt a

students who is attempting to answer. Another principle of questioning mentioned

are the usage of the overheard technique “question-pause-name”, ensure audibility,

then refuse to repeat the questions or answers, if a student ask question, don’t

answer it until you’ve asked the class “how would you answer that question”,

personalized questions like “pretending you are what would you do” and lastly

suggest partnership by using and inquiring “we”. He also mentioned to us the

different levels of questioning which contains the remembering, understanding,

applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating. Lastly, he mentioned to us the types of

questions which is first, the clarification questions, factual questions, hypothetical

questions, justifying questions and broadening or extension questions. Over all,

what I have learned to this session is we need and it is very important to ask

42
question on the students to know if the learners are listening to you, and to assess

the learners critical thing king skills, also to enlighten and enliven the classroom

environment and to have good interaction to our students. For the last event for the

morning session, our supervising teacher Prof. Veronica Carbonel watched us the

final virtual demo of her last year students, in order to give us inspiration and

encouragement on how we can handle and teach virtual teaching in a virtual

classroom.

For the afternoon session which is our last day for our webinar, we are also

deploy into our LHS breakout room together with my co practice LHS teacher to

meet our LHS principal which is Prof. Jan Kenneth Laguardia. In the discussion he

welcomed us to the Laboratory High School environment. After that he introduce to

us the staffs and teachers on the LHS department. First, he introduced our DMMMSU

president, SLUC Chancellor, our College Dean, our LHS Principal and his Secretary.

Next is, he introduced to us who are the teachers involving the LHS department in

different subjects or course. For the last discussion, he tell to us a few reminders

when we teach into LHS Department, this are strictly wearing uniform and ID’s

during teaching sessions, our rapport, and good conduct to our students,

cooperating teachers and to the DMMMSU staff and he was able to mention about

the resources. Lastly, he gave us the opportunity to asked him questions regarding

LHS then after he ended the session by saying “Good luck” to us practice teachers.

That’s the end of our Teaching Internship Webinar. I gained a lot of knowledge and

43
learnings that I will used and process to my teaching internship journey and to my

professional teaching life soon.

The day has come, we were formally deployed for our In-Campus at

DMMMSU-SLUC LHS at exactly September 17, 2021. I was destined to tach Grade 9

ICT or about computers as well as my 3 classmates that our chairwoman picked. Our

instructors in TLE divided us into 2 group. The first group is the batch 1 and for the

second group is for the batch 2. I assigned and deployed for the 1 st batch with my

other 3 classmates. Mr. Vladimir Cariaso as my CT until I finish my demos in my In-

Campus practice teaching for the first semester. He then assigned to us our topics.

He also discussed the different topics he assigned to us and give us his reliable

sources and information about each topic for the first and final demo that might able

to discussed and present to the grade 9 ICT student’s of until our final demo. He

gave us his PPT Presentation and link for his sources for us to review and

opportunity to learn the topics before proceeding to the making of lesson plan for

both lessons for 1st and final emo. Computer is a delicate task and topic to handle but

with the guidance of hid words and advices I was able to start my lesson plans

confidently. At first, it was really hard for me to list the objectives that I used to

attain in my lesson plan but, then our cooperating teacher suddenly give us the

format and idea on how to create and make a lesson plan effectively. It is not easy to

think what motivational game I could produce to get the interest and focus of the

student throughout my discussion. Thankfully, I already think a good motivational

game before proceeding the lesson plan. So, I have prepared my lesson plan earlier

44
before the said day for my first demo as well as my lesson plan for my final demo.

Actually, I am listed from the last among of my 3 classmates with me for both first

and final demo. I feel pressure and nervous because time has near to my first demo.

Our cooperating teacher asked and planned with us before we go to our online

classes we must undergo mock demo with him for us to be able to correct with the

wrong teaching strategy and be advices to us what we can add to our teaching

discussion for it can run effectively and smoothly.

In my first and final demo, at first, during our discussion, my voice and face

are nervous because that was the first-time teaching in a virtual class and what

more if I teach face to face, then it would be horrifying and full of nervousness. I

thought getting attention from the students was a difficult task because that was our

CT said, that they are hard and have a bad side attitude. However, it is not, because

most of them are paying attention and participating even in the greetings until I

presented the motivational game. Some students are passive and shy to answer, it

was not easy and hard using online platform if they are problems that may occur

during my discussions, examples are background music, noise pollution and losing

internet connection but luckily throughout my 2 demo’s no circumstances and

obstacle occur. Nerve racking moment in that time are slowly going down because

of the participation and response form the [Link] merely looking at them, I can

say that they are really competitive in terms of their academic performances. They

will participate even they are adjusting to us. We are new to them and we are

thankful because they welcomed us gracefully with a smile in their hearts even

45
though I do not see them inside their cameras. I have the fear that I can’t give them

the learning that they need to gain through my teachings. Although, they are familiar

with the topics I have trust in myself.

After the first meeting with y class, few of them messaged me quickly to pass

their activity and assignment. So, I was happy that they are the one who approached

me first. I am very blessed and fulfilled that ended the discussion very well, effective

and smoothly. It was an amazing feeling for me to do this practice teaching. Knowing

that the students are very active and appreciative, I can say that I can do more

classes with the confident I have until my last demo. I have a lot of experiences that I

can treasure through my teaching journey in my In-Campus. All the challenges,

experiences and hardships that I gained through this journey. My CT, classmates,

family and friends help me finish this journey. I struggle a lot of hardships especially

in thing-king motivational games for the students and how can I simply apply it

effectively and smoothly. But then, I did not give up, I am in the last pace, the last

journey before graduating. In that time, I choose to give up because of family

problems and all but as I think of my future, why do I need to give up? I am doing

this not just only to achieve and chase my dream to become a teacher. I also doing

and achieving this because of my family too. All of the hardships and sacrifices they

made, to my parents, especially to may late father that struggled a lot to give us best

education through his hardships up until his last breathe. I can say that as my first-

time teaching students in a real-scenario, the grade 9 ICT students I can say that

46
they are very active and have good manners for us student-teacher and they

respected us as their real teachers.

I learned many things with myself, my skills, my abilities, my capabilities to

teach. I also realized that teachers should understand learner diversity and that they

are unique in their own way. This practice teaching journey was an amazing journey

was an amazing and unforgettable experience that I will never forget for the rest of

my life as well as the lessons, guidance, advices and memories I had with my

instructors and students. I also learned that my co-student teachers are not-longer

my competitors especially through the hard times. Student-teachers should be the

one who helps each other. What most important to this experience is that we finish

the task and duty to teach even in a short-period of time and even in this kind of

instruction and situation and that can leave them a mark in their hearts, minds and

remember us that we are also part of their success in the near future.

Teaching will not and is not to make money to be rich but, it is the love, and

the eagerness to imply and teach knowledge and wisdom to them.

NARRATIVE REPORT FOR OUT-CAMPUS

All Education student's, student-teaching program is one of the most

important aspects of their education. It is the period when years of study are put to

48
the test by requiring students to apply what they have learned to true, real-life

teaching in a classroom context. Month, weeks and days student-teachers must

indulge or involve themselves to any activity and instructions they need to

accomplish. Also, practice-instructors or students I must say, work as unpaid interns

in various schools. They see the real teaching process in schools, which includes

visual assistance instructions for students and for teachers, paper works related to

teaching and lessons, and connections among the various people they encounter on

a daily basis inside the school setting. This is a great and tremendous opportunity

and experience for students because it provides them with their first taste of the job

they will pursue after graduation. This is the moment for them to put what they've

learned from their lecturers into practice in the classroom. An opportunity for them

to build ideas and views about the profession, develop motivating activities to catch

students' interest, and reinforce and strengthen their convictions about teaching.

But, it saddened us PT’s not to apply this teaching skills that we have learned in past

3 years and a half month because of the said pandemic COVID-19 for the out-campus

practice teaching. So, we have to teach online-demo again. In the first semester for

this out-campus teaching internship. We, student-teachers have to teach again for

online demo. This experience is very unusual to me again, it is because I have

different student to teach, in the last semester, Grade-9 ICT students, this time it was

Grade-10 Cookery. Students from Grade-10 Cookery were very shy to answer and be

participative to my discussion although there are some students that is also

participating through my discussion, that is why I have to adjust from what they

49
accustomed environment and teacher but, along with my discussion and demo with

them I have to make a move that make them got interest to my discussion, this is to

throw jokes and giving examples through a real-life scenario about our topic which

is about Meat, imagine how boring the all throughout discussion if I did not throw

interest activities from them. All of the strategy that I learned is from all of my

teachers since this internship started and I thank them for that, and to that, my

discussion ended so peacefully, even though I did not finish the last part of the

lesson proper which is their activity about our topic because we have already spend

the allotted time for the subject but I already have second option for that, a google

form, which it is compose and indicate there, their activity from my discussion then I

posted it from their Google Classroom alongside with the Power-point Presentation

with my topic. Being with them in even a short period of time is such a good

experience and memory that I will surely treasure because without them, I have no

experience in my online-demo teaching for this semester out-campus teaching

internship. It will surely add to my list of experiences and to my portfolio.

After our first online-demo teaching for out-campus internship. This time,

luckily for our second and final demo for this semester. We are lucky and happy that

we can experience face to face teaching demo at DMMMSU-SLUC Agoo, La Union. At

first, I have the feeling of nervousness because what if I failed to teach and what if I

shuttered words in front of my teachers and students, but my friends comfort me

not be nervous. Actually, one of my circle-of-friends were nervous too. In the end we

decided to take the face-to-face class for our final demo for this semester. All we

50
know is, we will teach the students from LHS of DMMMSU-SLUC but according to

CHED, we will not be able to teach and go out form the room we are assigned to go

to so, the students we will teach is our classmates then our teachers will seat form

the back to observe and comment after the demo for each student-teacher. We have

6 weeks to attend face-to-face class and our schedule is every Tuesday of the week

8:00 am to 5:00 pm. In the first week of the class, we are very excited to go to school

because we can finally see our school and the classroom we used to go. Then finally,

we will be able to go out, outside the house that we already lived in and our

companion for the past 2 years because of the pandemic. For this first week, we are

asked to make lesson plan in any topic we could think. After that, our teacher

announced the following schedule for the face-to-face demo teaching next week

which is our second week of our face-to-face class, April 12, Tuesday. I have been

scheduled 10-11 morning after the first student teacher demo. At first, I am very

nervous to teach even though my students are my co-practice teachers maybe it is

because my teachers came to observed and sit from the back that’s why, but over-all

I delivered my lesson and my discussion happy, properly and full of fulfilment

because I can see from the faces and eyes of my co-practice teachers which is my

acting students got prizes from the game, I introduce to them and the participation

they give from the discussion and I thank them for that. I also know, that they enjoy

my whole discussion about my topic because even if I did not ask them to

participate properly before my demo is they did. I will do that the same for their

demo teaching for I will give recover for what they did. Finally, my final demo face-

51
to-face demo teaching is done. The most exciting part for this experience is the

comment and suggestions of our critic teachers and our chairwoman for the

deliberation of my topic and the whole process of my teaching skills. I am happy that

my teachers enjoy and satisfied to my demo-teaching although, they have to say

other comments and suggestions, I know that those opinions and critics will help me

improve my skills in teaching that I can put in my real-life life scenario when I want

to apply job especially when I want to apply job for the DepEd Teachers. Also, I am

glad that our chairwoman got overwhelmed because even this is our first time to

teach face to face form online teaching demo. We are able to delivered our lesson

just like a pro, it is because we have the mastery and the confidence when it comes

to teaching. All they want to improve form us, is the management of the classroom,

for me, with all the suggestions and positive comments coming form them on how to

handle classroom, I will surely get to know and apply those techniques they teach

into my future students and classroom. Third week until the final week of our face-

to-face class, this time, my other co-practice teaching had to teach for their final

demonstration. It feels so real again, now that I already finished my demo teaching. I

also participated from the games they played for their motivational activities before

they’re lesson discussion started. Again, from the critics and opinions they said and

suggests for my co-practice teaching. I already add to the list of experiences on my

own notepad coming from our critic teacher positive comments that I can apply

soon when I want to apply job also, the skills that our teachers they possessed from

the beginning of our college life journey. All of the student teachers, especially me,

52
will surely apply those skills I have learned for the past years of my Education

student journey.

On Content Knowledge and Pedagogy

“Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) plays an important role in classroom

instructions”. In the teaching and learning process, a PCK involves teacher

competence in delivering the conceptual approach, relational understanding and

adaptive reasoning of the subject matter (Palanisamy Kathirvelou [Link]., 2014)

In teaching, it is necessary to know what the content of your lesson should be

impart and how teachers delivered properly to the learner so that they will

understand the lesson immediately. It is important to know the approaches that the

teacher will use to easy imparting knowledge and learning to the students. Teachers

should know the priority of teaching. It is integrating learnings to the mind of

children and a wisdom that can be given their heart and mind.

As I observed in my portfolio teaching, I believe that I teach and impart

accurate lesson for my former students. I gave them my best to teach correct and

precise knowledge and learnings about the topic that’s why the students really

acknowledge my demonstration regarding the lessons.

As a future teacher, we should know the precise words, ideas, information

that we used in teaching for the students because we are the source of their

knowledge towards their learning. I know that in the future, as a well-becoming

54
teacher, we can experience or we can teach other subject rather than our finished

major put through that is one of the challenges that the teacher maybe to teach

other subject-matter that’s why, it is important to find more ways to make topics

properly delivered. Don’t be comfortable on what we already know, give a time to

explore more knowledge about different subjects. Strategy is the best choice to

indicate in your teaching process because if you have good strategy, you will be able

to accumulate learnings to the students as well as good communication, sharing

ideas and opinion to both parties.

Teachers should eliminate distraction in creating and performing in

impacting cognitions and commands to students. Sharing lethal instruction

concerning different lectures every class discussion and session will be a good

healthy impact in the student lives.

On Learning Environment

Learning process should be in good and peace environment with this new

normal learning, where online is the only way to learn and a classroom-

environment to them.

Learners must have a no distraction and noise pollution place wherein the

students can concentrate to their learning process acquiring knowledges without

any distractions. With the learning environment for the students today, it is a big

factor to the process of imparting lesson for the students. Without a good quite

ambiance, there will be no positive outcome in the learning process of the students.

As I experience in my practice teaching journey, I have to take and step back

from the noises coming from the outside of the environment because, distractions

can ruin and not good for the process of imparting knowledge for the students. I

have to go in a place that noises and distractions are not allows to come in. To my

students, I am able to check if they are in a conducive place, I have experienced that

some of them are in the right or at the good and quiet place. But throughout the

discussion, I noticed that the noise from the surrounding is gone, and I think it is

56
because of the environment that I be able seen to them, that makes them encourage

to go away from distractions.

Not only the real setting of the learning environment of the students can be

portrayed. It is the teacher duty to implicate a peace and quiet environment for

processing the knowledge for the students. Wherein the teacher can build good

communication towards them to create a healthy conducive and professional setting

for the students learning.

On Diversity of Learners

Every student has individual differences. Differences between their own

intelligence, knowledge, culture, ethnicity, characters, strength and weaknesses,

attitudes even their own abilities. When entering a classroom with different diverse

learners, teachers should one who respect and understand those.

Variety of diversity in the classroom and outside of it will continue to grow,

so it would be important that we teachers educate students and make them

understand adapt to a diverse learning environment, be open minded and welcome,

embrace and respect their classmates, friends and even other that are different from

them.

The teachers should first understand each individual student in order to

generate cultural understanding inside and even outside the learning environment.

Make some time to know each student's different cultures, interests, individual

learner, their characters and even what they were belong. Displaying a sincere

58
interest in understanding about each student and their culture will help you develop

their trust and respect, as well as, understanding to their other classmates. having

and creating a connection with them, allowing them to feel valued. If students feel

loved and even at comfort with their teacher, they are much more likely to feel at

ease engaging with and recognizing their classmates which a good communication is

the core of a cultural understanding and respecting through a more open-

diverse classroom.

One of most challenging professions is teaching. In this field, one of the most

challenging professions is teaching. Why? because of the responsibility that are

already attached to them. Teachers might experience and can socialize learners with

a variety of personalities, attitude and beliefs. Just like in my teaching experience, I

experienced lot of differences when it comes to the characters, attitude in the

classroom and even their strength and weaknesses throughout the discussion about

the lessons. So as a future educator and a promotor of understanding the differences

of learners, I should not judge my students when I see situations that they are

different or saw their weaknesses instead, make them feel that they are belong and

that they can increase their abilities through the support from me then, there will be

no learners left behind and there will be full of students and teachers, even other

people with an open mind.

REFLECTIVE JOURNALS

On Curriculum and Planning

The teacher participating in curriculum of the school must put preparation

planning. creating and making curriculum planning puts a huge amount of effort.

As future educators, we must adhere and comply to the school's curriculum.

It's essential that we understand the subject and topics we'll be teaching, instructing

and making a plan. It's also important to be aware of and follow to the time

restrictions established for lesson. it is important that the teachers are ready and

prepared before the time that she/he will teach even setting the equipment and

materials before teaching should organized and well-planned especially, that we are

on the pandemic situation and an online class is already required to attend for both

teacher and students because that is one way to have a blended learning.

60
In my teaching experience in planning and creating lessons, it is not easy to

think and how you will create and taught the lesson to the learners especially if you

are only a first-time student-teacher and first time in teaching. But, student-teacher

must know what first his/her goal that can be set as his/her objectives in her

lessons so that, the student-teachers can know how she/he can start and make an

informative, interesting and fun lesson in order to gain interest from the students

and build a trust and respect for both parties especially that they are adjusting from

the learning environment and the new teacher they will meet.

Having such a clear objective and goal are very much important to establish

to manifest our purpose before proceeding on to our content on the lesson. We

should determine and assess the students on what we need to teach and who are we

teaching.

“Mastery is the key". Student-teacher like me, can develop self - confidence

on how they will deliver the topic nicely and smoothly by practicing your lessons,

presentations and topic. Create an outline and note so you can maintain focus on

your lesson when presenting it to your students. So that if you break your

concentration about your lesson and the students wants to asked you a question

about the lesson, the, you can answer the queries quickly and confidently. It's

important to maintain your concentration and focus to the topic so that the

learners understand what you're referring and teaching about. Educating should

include organizing a plan so that each lesson goes smoothly and run perfectly.

REFLECTIVE JOURNALS

On Assessment and Reporting

All of the ways we extract knowledge about a student's learning progress

were known to as assessment. Assessment tasks should be meaningful and relevant,

so they should reflect the objectives and criteria. Tests, observations, peer exchange

talks, written assignments, presentations/performances, and projects are some

samples. The practice of reporting is intended to convey and transmit the

knowledge gained through assessing student learning. The purpose of reporting is

to provide and inform learners, parents/guardians, even family of the students and

other teachers with relevant information and details about a student's progress.

62
We need unique, fresh and relevant instructional plans in order to improve

and enhance our teaching methods and techniques. We must also use a variety of

assessment tools to track, monitor and evaluate our students' progress and

performance. Having excellent and efficient terms and methods in assessment

system will result in a more effective and beneficial teaching method. For me, I

ought to prepare, learn, concentrate and master my teaching and lessons so that I

can properly and thoroughly discuss it with the students.

Teachers have to assess and report student improvement which that learner

place a big merit and worth on assessment and reporting. As a future educator,

we should keep records and not take account of each student progress. one

responsibility of a teacher is to make participated, encourage and invite guardians

and parents to participate and take part in their children's learning achievement or

accomplishments, their strength development and successes.

Educators or teachers should always be sensitive of learner progress and

observant to the overall performance and learning accomplishments of their

learners so that we can respond and take action immediately if we sense and

recognize that they are experiencing difficulties and struggling in terms of

processing their learning and to attaining the knowledge that the teachers taught.

63
REFLECTIVE JOURNALS

On Community Linkages and Professional Engagement

Another obligation and responsibility as a teacher, is to interact regularly

with our learners, their parents/guardians and family about the development in an

appropriate, concise and clear manner with respect, one example is when having a

PTA's meeting or the we called "CARD DAY" wherein, parents have a chance to know

what their children acts inside the learning environment or in their respective

classroom.

64
Although, I don’t have the chance meeting the parents and guardians of my

students in my teaching experience due to this ongoing pandemic that brought

teachers and learners manifest an online learning but as I observed and see the

students learning progress is very high and competitive. There is no problem that I

can see at all. Their parents surely take a responsibility in guiding and

communicating their children in terms of their studies and learning. I have the

opportunity to teach in the community, as I experienced to this matter, I am happy

to teach those students who are willing to learn also, I, has the eagerness to teach

students even the children that I teach are elementary only, I can see from their eyes

that they are willing to participate and give full attention from what I teach to them.

This experience would be so memorable to me and I am hoping that I can show and

adapt these experiences during my teaching career soon.

We should also create a classroom environment that corresponds the

community's needs. Teacher job, duty and task to participate in whatever is

happening on at the school with the various communities around the campus.

Along with this, teacher must know how to act in the class. Teachers and

educators must possess a professional standard in front of learners and to everyone.

Teachers are a role model and a second parent to their students. People and

students looked up and see you as their professional and respected coach, so we, as

a future teacher take pride and must not forget the essence of nobility of being an

educator and at the same time we must continue attaining and achieving goals

toward our professional development and success.

On Personal Growth and Professional Development

Personal development, also known as self-development, means having

personal attributes and strengths that assist teachers define and create meaning of

their teaching practice and of themselves as individuals. This is accomplished

through acquiring the necessary life skills that will enable them to flourish both

within and outside of their job. (Zineb DJOUB,2021)

Professional development, commonly referred as professional learning by

teachers that are already in the profession, is the process of obtaining the

knowledge and skills which teachers ought to perform their jobs effectively. This

involves not just learning new theoretical teaching ideas and suggestions, but also

putting it into practice and learning how to maximize their effectiveness in the

classroom. (Zineb DJOUB,2021)

It's not really easy embarking on this career, there are times where you feel

secure and days when you do not. The tensions were visible on my first day of

teaching as a practice teacher, shaking voices because of the mixed emotions

shuffles from the feelings. After my demo, I was able to meet my CT and

chairwoman and get their feedback and advices on what I had done in my first and

final demo. I take all of the constructive criticism to help me progress, grow and

develop in this field, and I'm fortunate and lucky to have a bunch of people who are

66
more passionate about it and are willing and ready to support and give advices and

guidance of their students. Also, to my friends and classmates who help me improve

my teaching skill and ability.

I also join webinar series to gain and to knowledge myself for my growth and

for my professional development that I can apply during my teachings. This webinar

series can give me additional information and knowledge that I can use also in my

demonstrations. I joined a total of 16 hours webinar with different topics discussed

by different resource speakers all over the world, that can be very useful in terms of

teaching. I learned a lot in this webinar. Which can strengthen and increases the

knowledge within my personal growth and professional development. In the other

hand, Webinars are not that too cost platform for all individuals involved especially

students. Students do not have to spend money on travel or lodging in terms of

getting an education and being educated. Likewise, the institution of higher learning

does not need to invest a huge amount in terms of location or classrooms to

accommodate new students.

One learning that I gain is, the conceptual comprehension of financial

education and techniques including budgeting, investing, borrowing, taxation, and

personal financial management is called financial literacy that you can use when we

want to start a business especially if we choose to go with that idea in case, you

finished your studies. Being economically ignorant refers to a lack of such skills.

Individuals that are financially knowledgeable are much more prepared for specific

financial obstacles, which reduces the chances of personal financial suffering, stress

67
and difficulties. Another learning that I gained is, when we seek for

accomplishments and success, the solutions to challenges and difficulties we

can face and experience in life are driven by our personality. Having a positive trait

and character in front of your students and even to other people can give joy for

both parties. Our personality can be defined like who we are and what we do

because one's actions to difficulties in life affect the character of one's achievements

and accomplishment, it's essential to have a strong and great character foundation

and structure. Persons with a positive and healthy social character often respected

and even admired by their neighbors which character possessing strong moral

standards are more likely to have positive traits. Another is the learning about

knowing and understanding the psychosocial problems and issues of the students,

youth does have a greater rate of social and psychological problems, and

issues particularly those involving behavior and school difficulties, than any other

period of their adolescence stage and time. Teenagers are far more independent and

active than adults, they are often out of adult or their parents and guardian control.

Teenagers should really be examined and assessed for a psychosocial issue by a

mental health professional if misbehavior becomes significant and recurrent.

Depression, anxiety, and eating problems are particularly common issues for young

people. In the webinar series, they tackled, that it is important for teachers and to

parents checked and assist or asked their children and students if they have issues

regarding their mental health. There are strategies that can be useful as a guide for

them. Having a good communication skill in teaching is a good strategy and

68
characteristic of a good teacher, it is a good way to understand and communicate to

your students respectively and well-mannered. Last learning that I gain form the

overall webinars that I attended are teachers and students are given the opportunity

to explore, study, and use all of the available tools to learn new things, knowledge

and ideas through innovation in education. It involves a fresh perspective about it

and resolving issues about a problem especially about this online learning amidst

the pandemic. This webinar series help me improve my teaching journey practice

and on how I can manage the classroom as well as the student that is based from an

online learning which is a flexible and blended type of learning that the government

and universities applied and produced form different schools.

Yes! You are all correct! Layout is

important because it helps the

which the design is conveying or

Have you ever able try designing

designers. But then again, I will only

show you and presenting to all of A condition in which different

you the basic principles of graphic elements are equal or in the correct

and layout. proportions.

So then let’s start. For the first basic

principle

127
Can you guess what is it? What did

you recognize in the picture?

Yes, very good! So, the first basic

principle is Balance, what do we mean

by balance, Will you please read the

meaning Nadia?

Thank you! Balance refers the

distribution of the graphic design or

images or elements such as shapes

and text of a design evenly and

equal throughout the layout.

It has equal weights on either side

But then, designers can choose if the of an imaginary line and easy to

elements of design they put in their analyze.

presentation if it is balanced or not.

So, with that statement will go to the

different types of Balance.

The first type of Balance is the

128
Symmetrical Balance. can you please

read the meaning Ken?

Thank you! Symmetrical balance has Ma’am, the design such as colors

an equal and evenly measure of and shapes are evenly distributed

different kind of designs that we will both sides

projects & etc. Ma’am, the wings are also

I have here example, distributed evenly.

What did you notice?

Excellent! What about these another

example?

Very good! The elements or images

the designers used is equal so, both

parts have the same amount of

design. Ma’am, it is Asymmetrical Balance.

Just like us, we should have balance

life to create a healthy living and for

129
you students, you should balance

your love life to your studies.

It has differing weights, often laid

balance?

It is the opposite of Symmetrical.

Very good! Will you please read the

Ma’am, the stones are not balanced

Thank you! Asymmetrical Balance is because the other side has more

a type of balance that has an stones while the other has only one

different elements used in the

presentation. I have here example, Ma’am, it is not also balance

What did you notice? because the other side has more

elements used than the other side.

What about the second picture?

130
Yes ma’am.

Excellent! The elements or images

the designers used is not evenly

distributed so it can cause heavy

weighing to the other part of the Ma’am, symmetrical balance

element than the other one. Did you

understand what is a balance? Ma’am, asymmetrical balance

Great! So, if you understood what a

Balance is, and its type. Please

identify what type of balance is this.

The other one? Ma’am, the designs are repeatedly

Next…. put to the modulo art.

Nice one! Let’s move on to the next

basic principle. We have the modulo

Very good! Next basic principle is

the Repetition. Will you please read

Thank you! Repetition is from the

word itself repeat which it repeats the

projects. repeated both sides.

Ma’am, the elements are also

repeated.
I have here example of repetition.

What did you notice in the picture?

132
Yes, ma’am

What about this one?

Another example is our wall Ma’am, the design of tiles in our

designs. Does anyone of you has the house

design in your walls like these?

Can you give me example of repetition

Ma’am, it is important because it
that you see in your house?
creates unity to our designs.

Thank you! Why repetition is

important in creating our presentations

and projects?

Very good! Repetition is important

in creating our presentations or

projects because it can keep the eye of

the viewer familiar with the design and

to remain its consistency, especially, it

133
can create a sense of moving within the

artwork.

With that statement, it will bring us

Ma’am, Movement
to the next basic principle of graphic

and layout.

Can guess what is the picture The viewer’s eyes around the

indicated and created? screen and the flow of feeling and

action in the images.

Very good! Will you please read

the meaning?

Thank you! Movement refers to

the way the eye of the viewers travels

over a design.

I have here example of movement

We have the illusion art which it can

create moving or movement through

134
the repeated lines pattern.

Vincent Van Gogh

How about this artwork? Do you

think who is the artist of this artwork?

Yes, correct! That is an artwork of

Vincent Van Gogh entitled The

Ma’am, the clouds is like moving
Starry Night which can connect to

the artwork of Pablo Picasso

entitled “Everything you can

imagine is real” What did you

observe?
Ma’am, it’s like moving

Very good! Try to imagine anything

you notice while imagining?

135
What else? Yes, ma’am

That’s it! Anything you can imagine

is also moving right? So, did you The difference, especially when

understand what movement is? that difference is very noticeable.

Great! Next basic principle is

Contrast.

Will you please read the meaning?

Thank you! Contrast refers to how

different elements are used in

design such as colors and sizes. With

those differences, the design will

stand out.

Contrast has differences. We have

the contrast or the differences

between the size which they used Ma’am, it is contrast in color

different sizes while the contrast or

the differences between the color is

the differences.

Ma’am, it is contrast in color and

I have example of contrast. sizes.

Can you tell me what contrast it is?

Is it contrast in color or size?

Very good! Another example is the

variety of leaves.

Excellent! The category is the same

which is the leaves, but they are

contrast or they are different with

their color and sizes of the leaves.

Next example…

Next…

Next…

Nice one class! If we use insufficient

contrast in our designs or in our

content. It becomes dull especially, it

can be difficult to read for people

137
with visual impairments. You notice

that if we see images that is no

contrast in the elements such sizes

or colors, it’s plain right, just like

this image. The color of the face

should be light brown or brown not

blue while the color of the eye is

black and white and the color of the

lips should be color red or pink.

But sometimes, there are designs

and images that can stand out to

their own even without contrast.

Just like this cloud. It can stand out Deals with the parts of a design
on their own because the color of that are meant to stand out.
the cloud is already blue.

Another Basic principle of

Graphic and Layout is Emphasis.

What do we mean by Emphasis,

138
will you please read the meaning

Carla?

Thank you! Emphasis deals with

the parts of a design that are

meant to stand out, this means

the most important information

or elements of design such as

shapes, numbers, text is meant

Before we start our discussion for
the new lesson. I had prepared
here a game. Let’s have a short
game called Letter Guessing Game.
Yes, Ma’am
Are you familiar with this game
class?

In this game. Your participation and

attentiveness are needed because
if you got all the letters for every
picture that I am going to present,
you will have a plus point to our Yes, Ma’am
activity later on. You need to guess
what the picture is which I will (The students will be playing)
present in one word. You can use
the chat box to comment your Yes, Ma’am
answers. Are you ready class?
Ma’am, we have the meat,
carbohydrates, pork, beef, fats, muscle
fibers, juiciness, protein, tenderness,
connective tissues
Did you enjoy our game class?

What are the words you

encountered earlier?
Ma’am, I think our lesson for today is
about
meat
Yes! Thank you! So, based on the
words you encountered earlier in
our Letter guessing game. What do
you think class is our next lesson
for today?

Very good class! Our lesson for

today is all about Meat definition,
structures and composition

156
Ma’am, it is one of the sources of
F. Lesson Proper protein.

So, what comes first in your mind if

we talked about or heard about
meat? Ma’am, it is an edible part of an animal.

Very good Anna! Who has another

idea about what is meat? Meat comes from cows, carabaos,
goats, lambs, veal, and horses.

Did you understand what is the
definition of meat?

158
Okay! Before we proceed to the
structure and composition of meat
let us classify first meat.

First, we have the Carcase Meat.

When we say carcase meat, will
you please read the meaning? Poultry are domesticated birds kept by
humans for their eggs, their meat, or
their feathers.

Example of carcase meat is the

meat of beef, pork, and lamb.

Thank you! Another classification of

meat is Poultry Meat. When we say
poultry meat, will you please read
the meaning Carlo?

It is the pluck or organ meats, is the

organs of a butchered animal

Thank you! Example of Poultry

Meats are chicken, turkey and
duck.
Yes ma’am.
There are other parts of an animal
that are edible for us depending on
the culture and regions of people,
this is what we called the Offal
Meat, when we say offal meat. Can
you please read the meaning
Andrea?

159
Thank you! Examples of Offal meat
are kidney, liver, tongue, heart, and
brain.

So, did you understand the

classifications of meat class?

Great! Now, let’s see the Nutritive

value of meats rom the USDA Food
Composition Database.
Ma’am, it is how things are
for carcase meat 2.64 mg for vitamin constructed.
B12 and 0.3 mg for Zinc is 6.31 for
carcase meat and 1.94 mg for poultry,
Iron is 2.6 mg for carcase meat and
1.26 mg for poultry, saturated fat is

while offal meats is a good source of
Vitamin A but No Vitamin C.

160
Now that you know what the nutritive
value of meats is. Let us now move on Muscular tissues composed of water,
to the structure and composition of protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals,
meat. and creatinine. These determine the
texture or grain of a piece of meat.

First, the structure of meat.

But what do you mean by the word

structure?

Very good! It is how the parts or

elements of the meat are arranged.

So, we have the muscular tissues when

we say muscular tissue? Will you please This is a grained meat that is composed
read the meaning Cassandra? of small fibers bound in small fibers.

Course muscular tissues is the textured

meat with large fibers.
Thank you! Lean meat is composed of
long, thin muscle fibers, bound
together in bundles.

Example of lean meats are beefs,

lambs, veal, and pork.

Next line please?

These are the network of proteins that

161
bind the muscle fibers together.
Connective tissue is tough.
Meats are high in connective tissue if
the muscles are more exercised like
meat from legs and the meat comes
from older animals.

Yes! Creatinine is the waste of product

of creatine, which the muscles use to
make energy.

So, Muscle tissues consist of threadlike

cells called fiber. These fibers are
comparable in dimensions to human
hair.

Later, I will discuss to you class the

First texture of lean meat is fine, can

you please read the meaning Joanna?

So, there are two kinds of connective
tissue in a meat. First is the Collagen

163
when we say collagen will you please
read the meaning Stephanie?

Yes, ma’am
It means, it turns to be in tenderization.
Have you ever tried eating “nilagang

Moist-heat cooking methods is not

meat contributes to:
What about Emma? A. Juiciness
Marbling is fat that is deposited within
the muscle tissue.

Surface fats protect the meat from

drying out during cooking.

Adding surface fat is called barding.

Excellent! You are all correct!
Did you understand the structure of
meat class?

Okay! Now that you understand it, let’s

move on to the next.

165
We have the Composition of Meat
But first, what do you mean by
composition of meat? Crystal?

Yes ma’am
All right! Thank you! Composition of
meat is from the word itself is the
analysis and information of vitamins,
minerals, and other nutritive substance
in each food. B. Tenderness
So, lets now tackle the composition of Marbling separates muscle fibers,
meat making meat easier to chew.
First is the water.
Can you please read the table Joan?

Ma’am, marbling is very important

contribution for the meat to be
tendered and gives flavor to the meat.

Thank you! overall, meat consists of

75.55% water muscle tissue.

Second composition is Protein. Will you

please read the meaning Aila?

C. Flavor
Fat is the main source of flavor in meat.

Thank you! When we say coagulate, it

blood itself. From liquid blood to a
semisolid or solid state.
So, when the protein has coagulated to
the desired degree, the meat is said to
be done.
Yes ma’am.
Next composition of meat is Fat

It has 3.5% of the muscle tissue.

It plays a necessary part in the complex

It means, it helps to give and produce
juiciness to the meat.
While barding is a method of
introducing fat to a very lean joint of
meat to keep it moist and succulent
during cooking. It means that when you
cook meat, barding is a step or process
in cooking that the fat produce to the
meat.

167
Did you understand what is the
contribution of fat for the juiciness of
the meat class?

Okay! Next contribution of fat in meat

is the tenderness of the meat. Jenny
will you please read? Yes ma’am

Thank you! When we say marbling, None, Ma’am.

what do you mean by that again?

Very good! As I said earlier, Marbling is

the most important influencing
attributes of meat because it gives ANSWERS
flavor and tenderness to the meat and
with the tenderness of the meat, it
makes the meat easier to chew. 1. It contains muscle, fat, bone
connective tissue and water. It

168
Excellent! Yes! Fat gives flavor in the
meat because it helps us enjoy the
taste of the meat, it gives a nice and
yummy smell like for example lechon-
kawali then you can dip it into Mang
Tomas. The flavor and smell itself
makes you give appetite, right?

Great! So, class, did you understand

what are the three contributions of fat
to the meat?

Okay!

So, let’s get done to the last

composition of meat which is the
carbohydrates. Annica can you please
read?

Thank you! When we say Mailard

reaction, it is a reaction which takes
places when meat is browned by the
process of roasting, broiling and
sauteing.
Like for example when you cooked
adobo or roasted meat. You see, when
they are not cooked, the color of the

169
meat is white but when it cooked, it
becomes brown in color. That is why
we say, if the color of the meat is
brown it is cooked, so the process of
the browned appearance of meat is
called the Mailard Reaction. Which
gives rich flavors to the meat.

Did you understand what are

composition of meat class?

Great!
