Major Project (MANB 552)
As a part of the CBCGS (2018) curriculum prescribed by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada
University, Aurangabad during the fourth Semester of MBA course, students are required to take
up project work in preferably their area of specialization for the successful completion of the
MBA Program. This project will be assessed by the university experts. The students should submit
3 sets of black hard bound copy of project (with golden embossing) report to the Institute. This
project carries 200 marks and 80 marks are needed for passing.
Projects submitted before due date in hard bound copies only will be considered for
evaluation by the university. Any project reports submitted in soft copy format will not be
considered.
Why Project Work?
Major Project is an intensive study on a topic related to industry in your area of specialization. It
offers an opening to practice what have been learnt in theory. The objective of including project
in the IV semester is to provide an opportunity to students to investigate a problem applying
management concepts in a scientific manner. It enables students to apply their conceptual
knowledge in a practical situation and to learn the art of conducting a study in a systematic way
and then presenting their findings in the form of report. In this the students can study the topic
in detail, gather information, analyze and come up with findings contributing to that particular
organization. As Managers, constantly seek information to take decisions, this activity will enable
the students to collect, synthesize and utilize information for decision making and reaching
specific conclusions.
What can be studied in Major Project Work?
The Major Project taken for study can be related to an organization which is related to your
specialization. It can be comparative study of many organizations, departmental study of an
organization, study of functioning of a particular department, process or a concept which has
been implemented in the organization or any other specific/relevant study associated with the
organization.
Before proceeding on the study, the student should identify the problem he/she intends to study
and know the subject under study. He/she can facilitate this by reading material on the intended
study. Students should check the access to the materials, data, and references for the study.
A review of the Literature i.e., the studies done so far, the topics studied, will give a
comprehensiveview to the student as to which area of study is found wanting or there is a lacuna.
This enables astudent to select the area of study that is most recent and has most application
value. The student must take the necessary permission from the organization if he/she intends
to conduct the study in that organization. The students must conduct a survey/research or
collect primary data which can be analyzed and the conclusion can be drawn. It is also desirable
to use mathematical model/statistical tool to analyze the data.
Objectives:
1. To be able to define the objectives of the study appropriately.
2. To study organizational processes, behavior and select a suitable area (relevant to
specialization) of study for investigation.

4. To understand and apply appropriate tools / methodology for research.
5. To evolve practical and workable solutions relevant to the problem.
6. To conduct a research/survey and collect primary data and come up with a project report
as per the guidelines given.
Guidelines:

date than the guide will allot the subject/topic and students will be dutybound to work
on that subject/topic.
2. The student shall seek the guidance of the internal guide on a continuous basis, and the
