ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

A. Information about the applicant

Name of Applicant/Proponents: Mary Lucy C. Rosales and
Luzminda L. Mendez
Position Agency/Functional Division: Master Teacher 2 and
Master Teacher 1,

B. Profile of the Program Course

i. Title of the Program

Four-Day In-Service Training & Workshop on School - Based Mid Year

Assessment of IPCRF and Enhancement Training on Basics of Teaching
Beginning Reading using Marungko Approach for Tandag Central
Elementary School Teachers

ii. Rationale
As per DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2015, enclosure No. 2
“Implementing Guidelines of the School Year 2015-2016” and under
paragraph 4 of the Calendar of School Activities which states that at
the end of the Second Quarter, a midterm break shall be observed to
evaluate the individual teachers and their collective performance as
well as to conduct In-Service Training (INSET) activities in support of
the continuing professional development and assist their needs
based on the result of their TSNA (Teachers Strength and Needs
Assessment), Tandag Central Elementary School shall hold a
midyear assessment and inset activities on January 25-30, 2024 at
the school campus.
This is a 4-day school-based live-out INSET. Two day will be
intended for the discussion and one-on-one review of their IPCRF,
Two day day for Reading Enhancement Capacity building using the
Marungko Approach of Teaching. This Training is well appreciated by
our School Head and led by none other than Ma'am Marilou S.
Saranza. In our conference through our LAC sessions, it has been
proven in the recent Phi-Iri Reading Test of students that according to
the results, still 90% had achieved a fallen score from the overall
student population. We then realized that our teachers need the
development of our skills in the teaching of Reading to reduce the
number of students struggling in reading. It has been also our chance
to meet our Master Teachers Mentor for one on one assessment of our
IPCRF papers completion and clarify the things of the newest updates
and issues concerning the IPCRF on individual Plan.Hence this Activity
Proposal was push through.

iii. Program or Course Description

This is a four-day activity (192 hours) to be delivered via face-to-

face modality but adhering to health protocols. The topics were
anchored and selected based on DM 173, s. 2019 re: Hamon: Bawat
Bata Bumabasa (3 B’s Initiative)

This capacity building also includes the priorities that surfaced from the
result during the conduct of Phil-Iri pre-test.

In this enhancement training, the participants are also led to

navigate the relevance usage of Marungko Approach with an
integration process, presentation skills, remediation activities, and
monitoring the reading progress of struggling learners .

While our school teachers are still adjusting and tuning in to the
new normal and new mode of managing and supervising their
respective classes, it is equally important to provide our teachers a
professional development activity that would help and lead them
improve their reading teaching styles with the use of ICT to redesign
their instructional reading materials that fit to the needs of 21 st century
learners.
