Voltage Transformer (VT) Rack-IN/OUT Procedure
Earth Switch (ES) Operating Instruction (Busbar Earthing)
A. Racking-IN to Service Position: Busbar Earthing: Ensure all circuit breakers in same Section are in 'TEST' position.
1. Ensure that VT knob is in ISOLATE POSITION before closing the VT door.
2. Close the VT door to free the knob. A. Closing the Earth Switch (ES):
3. Pull out & move the VT knob into RACK IN/OUT POSITION. 1. Confirm Circuit Breaker is in Test Position.
4. Insert the handle into the hole of insertion/withdrawable screw. 2. Confirm cables are not energize by checking 'CVI'.
5. Rotate the handle clockwise to rack in VT to service position. 3. Press push button 'PB' in LV door and hold it, during hold you can rotate
6. Remove the handle and move the VT knob into CLOSE POSITION. Earth Switch (ES) knob to open access for ES operating shaft.
7. Padlock the VT knob externally to restrict any unauthorized person to rack out 4. Engage the ES operating handle; rotate it to the left until handle rotation stop to
VT from service position. close the Earth Switch (ES).
5. Check Earth switch (ES) indication shows .
B. Racking-OUT from Service Position:
1. Remove the padlock before operation. B. Opening the Earth Switch (ES):
2. Pull out & move the VT knob into RACK IN/OUT POSITION. 1. Engage the ES operating handle and turn it to the right until handle rotation
3. Fit the handle into the hole of withdrawable/insertion screw. Stop to open the Earth Switch (ES).
4. Rotate the handle anti-clockwise to rack out the VTs from service position. 2. Check Earth switch (ES) indication shows .
5. Remove the handle and move the VT knob into ISOLATE POSITION. 3. Rotate Earth Switch (ES) knob to close the access for ES operating shaft.
6. Padlock the VT knob externally to restrict any unauthorized person to rack in
Note: Access for ES operating shaft remains OPEN if the Earth Switch (ES) is in
VT to service position.
CLOSED position.
7. To pull the VT out of the panel, remove the front stiffener then pull it out.
