The Sahara Desert is the world’s largest hot desert and the third-largest desert
covering about 3.5 million square miles located in North Africa. It is home to a
variety of flora and fauna. Vegetation in the Sahara desert includes cactus, date palms
and acacia. Fauna includes camels, lizards, snakes and rodents. (Para-1)
The Sahara Desert is known for its extreme temperature, with day time temperature
reaching 122 degrees Fahrenheit and night time temperature falling below freezing.
Despite its harsh conditions, the Sahara desert is an important part of the Earth’s
ecosystem, as it helps regulate the planet’s temperature and climate. There are over
20 lakes, most of which are saltwater lakes in the Sahara Desert. (Para-2)
