least 45 minutes after pulling out the CD from the original OS install before powering down the
server. Before powering down the system, connect a keyboard, monitor and mouse to diagnose
the problem.
1. The upgrade kit contains two copies of the CIRS OS CD:
a. Insert a copy of the CIRS V4.2.4.13 CD into the CD-ROM drive on S1.
b. Insert another copy of the CIRS V4.2.4.13 CD into the CD-ROM drive on S2.

will be partitioned and formatted as necessary and the first stage of the Windows XP OS installation will copy
necessary Windows XP and CIRS installation files to the C: drive.
5. After approximately 10-20 minutes, the Servers will power down. If a server has not powered down after 20
minutes, there is an issue with the installation.
6. Power up the server and immediately remove the BRCT MX CIRS Service V4.2.4.13 CD.
7. The Windows XP installation will begin and take approximately 30 minutes to complete on each server. Once the
Windows XP installation finishes, the system will reboot, and the CIRS Application software will automatically be
installed. After approximately 5 more minutes, the system will power down. Once all two servers power down for the

Work Flow
• Integration of EBW 2.0 into the Scanner Console
• Enhanced Plan on Surview, including additional reconstructions and MPRs.
• Enhanced graphic planning on Surview for easier and faster operation. Mouse cursor automatically changes its
shape according to the desired operation:
Move the Scan - move mouse cursor into the middle of scan plan box (not over one of the scan’s borders),
then click and drag the scan plan box to the desired position.
Change Start/End - move mouse cursor to beginning or end of scan, then click and drag the line up or
down.
Change Field of View – move mouse cursor to the scans side borders, then click and drag the line left or
right.
Rotate the Scan (Axial and MPRs only) – move mouse cursor over the Rotate icon above the scan
rectangle, then click and drag the mouse left or right.
Resize Plan – move the mouse is over a corner of the plan contour, then click and drag the corner to
change the corner position. This changes the start, end, length, FOV, or X/Y shift. When dragging the
corner, the FOV does not change symmetrically
MPR planning
• During the Plan Scan stage – after the reconstruction is complete, the CT Viewer is launched and the MPR images
are displayed.
• Add an MPR: click on a scan in Series list during Plan Scan stage and click “Insert MPR” button. The MPR is
inserted after the selected series. The MPR “RAW images” are derived from the recon before it.
• Set MPR parameters: Click on the MPR in Series list to view the MPR parameters.
• Change the MPR’s length and FOV: can be done graphically.
NOTE The middle of MPR must always be within the scan’s boundaries.
• Orientation: there are three ways of determining MPR orientation.
Orientation buttons: Sagittal / Coronal / Axial buttons sets the MPR direction and uses maximum scan volume.
Sagittal angle and Coronal angle: parameter in scan protocol. Range is –90 to +90.
Graphic interface to Rotate the MPR: When using a Surview 180, the Sagittal angle can be rotated. When
using Surview 90, the Coronal angle can be rotated.

Pulmo Instructions
• To plan two Pulmo Prospective scans using different scan modes (for instance "max inhale" and "max exhale")
perform the scans as follows:
1. Plan the first scan in the max. inhale mode and click Go.
2. When the scan is complete plan the second scan in the Max. Exhale mode.
3. Click Go.
NOTE Do not plan the two scans simultaneously.
• To avoid reconstruction failure due to invalid pitch, always keep the pitch values within 0.04 - 0.08 and the rotation
time 0.4 or 0.5 sec. The factory recommended values are: Pitch = 0.06 and RT = 0.5 sec.
• The Varian sensor is not supported. The only supported sensor is Bellows.
• Never edit the R tags on-line. After the scan and reconstruction are finished, end the study and only then perform R-
tag editing for the off-line reconstruction. If the peak is not identified use the "Add new tag" function. Editing the last
R-tag doesn't work.
• The message "Respiratory device is disconnected" may appear during the Pulmo scans, even when the device
is performing correctly. When this message appears make sure that the device is connected. If it is disconnected,
abort the scan.
Easy protocols
• Clinically oriented scanning: a new parameter called Scan Type is used to avoid erroneous parameters.
• Parameters that may result in bad image quality are not available.
• Automatic parameters: parameters are optimized automatically according to the scan type.
• Improved protocol interface: a new design offers more intuitive operation.

Cardiac
• New filters: Eight cardiac filters are available.
• CA and XresA are intended for large size patients
• CB and XresB are intended for Average size patients
• CC and XresC improves image quality for average size patients to get sharper images
• CD and XresD are intended for stent imaging
• The Xres filters use a special adaptive algorithm for noise optimization.
The user should select the best filter adequate for his needs. All 8 filters were present in the first and second betas of
BR2.2.1, however special attention should be given to image quality with filters CC and the Xres filters.
• Cosmix filter: Four new filters are introduced in BR2.2.1. The purpose of the COSMIX filters is to reduce the noise
in the vessels while preserving their edges thus enhancing the coronaries visualization in cardiac applications.
Validation of these filters will be done both internally and externally (Not in beta 1)
• Burlap artifact: A correction to reduce the burlap artifact on cardiac images is introduced to BR2.2.1. The
validation of this artifact will be done mostly internally.
• Continue cardiac scan: If scan continued, one ECG file and one volume scan is resulted when reviewing the data
in CT viewer or Cardiac viewer. Not applied to off line.
• Irregularities detection and correction: An automatic algorithm to detect irregularities in the patient heart rate
runs in the background of a cardiac scan. In case such an irregularity is detected, the following occurs:
• If the Cardiac Dose Right was ON, it will be cancelled automatically to allow reconstruction of additional phases
at higher image quality. The user receives the following message: “Cardiac Dose Right cancelled due to unstable
heart rate”.
• The ECG viewer notifies the user the number of irregularities detected
• The ECG wave presents the first irregularity detected.

• The irregularities detected are automatically labeled with a question mark. The user can accept or reject the
automatic detection with the left-click options. Before Accepting / Rejecting a detected irregularity, the user
should review the ECG wave and determine if the detected irregularity is actually an irregularity.
• If the user accepts the irregularity the question mark will disappear and in some cases additional phases will be
automatically added to the reconstruction request.
• If the user rejects the irregularity: the label will be removed and no changes in the reconstruction procedure will
be made.
• If the user takes no action (neither accepts nor rejects the irregularity): the question mark label remains and no
changes in the reconstruction is made.
• In offline reconstruction or in re-recon the user has three possibilities:
• Click Reset
• Recon parameters (such as FOV and Shifts) are saved after evolving.
