ABSTRACT

A gas detector is a crucial safety device used to detect the presence of hazardous gases in an environment. The system
alerts users in case of gas leaks, preventing accidents such as explosions, suffocation, or poisoning. This project
focuses on designing a gas detection system that uses sensors to detect gases like methane (CH₄), carbon monoxide
(CO), and LPG. The system is integrated with microcontrollers and an alarm mechanism to ensure safety in industrial,
commercial, and residential settings

INTRODUCTION
Gas leaks can pose serious risks, including fire hazards, health problems, and environmental pollution. Conventional
detection methods are inadequate for real-time monitoring, necessitating an automated gas detection system. This
project aims to develop an efficient, low-cost, and reliable gas detection system using sensor technology,
microcontrollers, and alarms. By detecting harmful gases at low concentrations, the system helps prevent accidents
and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

Gas leaks in industrial, domestic, and commercial spaces can result in fatal accidents and financial losses. The
absence of real-time monitoring and delayed detection can lead to severe consequences, including explosions and
health hazards. Existing gas detection systems may lack accuracy, have high costs, or be difficult to integrate with
existing safety measures. Therefore, there is a need for an efficient and affordable gas detection system that provides
early warnings and alerts users to take preventive action.

OBJECTIVES

1. To design and develop a gas detection system using reliable gas sensors.
2. To integrate the system with microcontrollers and a real-time alert mechanism.
3. To ensure the system provides accurate gas concentration measurements.
4. To develop a cost-effective and user-friendly solution for gas leakage detection.
5. To enhance safety in residential, industrial, and commercial environments.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
Main Components:
1. Gas Sensor (MQ-2, MQ-6, MQ-7, or MQ-135) – Detects gases such as methane, carbon monoxide, LPG, or air quality.
2. Microcontroller (Arduino, ESP32, or PIC Microcontroller) – Processes sensor data and triggers alerts.
3. Buzzer/Alarm – Generates an alert when gas concentration exceeds safe levels.
4. LCD/OLED Display – Displays real-time gas levels.
5. LED Indicators – Provides visual alerts (green for safe, red for danger).
6. Wireless Module (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GSM – Optional) – Sends notifications remotely.
7. Power Supply Unit – Provides necessary power to the system components.
