Areport isa written account or description of some event,
accident, or investigation of an issue. It is purely objective
innature.
'A report can be a short paragraph a single page
writing or a few pages according to its subject such as
a newspaper report or a First Information Report (FIR)
registered by the police, or a voluminous document, €.9. 2
‘report on the archaeological survey or the annual report
of an institute or departmental or ministerial reports. In
this way, we have various types of reports—newspaper
report, enquiry reports, progress or action taken report,
‘a police report, report of a meeting, etc., each having its
‘own character and format. However, in this section of
‘writing skills we shall deal only with newspaper reports
and magazine reports covering accidents, events,
functions and celebrations.

rooms were full of old women at Nari Niketan, the
