White Whale is a specialist asset management firm founded in 2017. White Whale has two distinct verticals –
Venture Capital and Listed Equities (PMS). The Venture Capital vertical operates via the White Whale Venture
Fund and focuses on making direct investments in tech enabled early to mid-stage businesses in India. The fund
is focused on consumer and financial services verticals, however has a broader mandate across sectors.
White Whale PMS invests in public markets in India with a private equity mindset. The fund's investing philosophy
is to invest in high quality listed companies in India, run by top management teams, that can compound capital
at healthy rates over a long period of time. positions. We emphasize deep, bottom-up fundamental analysis to
deliver differentiated returns. We view risk as a permanent loss of capital and hence, believe in investing only
within our circle of competence and in companies with the highest standards of corporate governance.
The founding team has over 60 years of financial, investing, entrepreneurial and operational experience with top
tier global investment banks and investment funds across India, US, UK, and Middle East.
JOB DESCRIPTION
• The candidate would focus on deep diving into investment opportunities to understand and analyse the
quality of a business and drawing unique insights from his/her research.
• To identify and originate transactions that would fit into the fund’s investment frameworks
• Conduct research and build thesis on sectors/sub-sectors to identify trends and attractive investment
opportunities
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with all stakeholders within the listed & venture ecosystem, from
start-up founders/team, to funds and strategics
• The candidate will work directly with the founding team, gaining hands-on exposure to the intricacies
of investing, including conducting research and analysis, performing management due diligence,
building financial models, and evaluating the risk-reward framework for each investment decision
SKILLS NEEDED
• Freshers with an interest in building a career in investment management
• Proactive self-starter with ability to initiate and take ideas to completion
• Sound business judgment, problem solving and commercial instincts
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role. Independent thinking,
diligence, persistence, and curiosity is critical for long term success in this role. At the same time,
humility, and respect towards individuals within the firm and outside is important.
• Ability to think using first principles and filter signal from the noise.
• Proficiency in using multiple data sources to collate and analyze information by drawing own conclusion
and making sense out of the data
• A candidate who gets along with teams and contributes to making the whole greater than sum of parts.
The role begins with a 6-month internship, with the opportunity for full-time conversion based on
performance.
