To the Members

Dear Sirs,

China - Establishment of Emission Control Areas (ECA) (No.9)

Members are kindly requested to refer to the previous Japan P&I News No.858 dated 2
December 2016 and No.881 dated 3 April 2017.

Implementation of the low sulphur fuel requirement was started on 1 September 2017 at all
ports in the Zhejiang ECA which is a part of the Yangtze River ECA (Zhejiang ECA includes
Ningbo, Zhoushan, Jiaxing, Taizhou etc.). This means that such low sulphur fuel requirement
has now been implemented at all ports in the Yangtze River ECA. The map of the Yangtze
River ECA is shown as follows:-

Members are therefore kindly requested

that they make sure to comply with the low
sulphur fuel requirement, using fuel with
sulphur contents not exceeding 0.5%m/m,
during their vessels’ calls at any of the
ports in the Yangtze River ECA.

Yours faithfully,
