Importance of Tourism
1. Socio-Economic Development
- Based on UNWTO, Tourism is one of the world’s major economic sector.
2. Job Creation
- In 2019, the travel tourism industry was one of the world growing sectors accounting for
10% of Global GDP and was responsible for creating one in four of all new jobs across the
world. In addition, tourism supports 1 out of 10 jobs worldwide and provides livelihood for
many millions more involves developing and developed economies.
3. Driving Prosperity
- Due to the pandemic, 88M-115M people would be push into the extreme poverty because
of the global contraction of travel.
4. Maintaining economic stability
- As a result of Covd-19, the travel and tourism sectors suffered losses of almost 4.5 trillion
USD with its global contribution to GDP declining by 49% which is relative to 3.7% GDP
decline of the global economy.
